Yuzuru Hanyu Cheer Thread

Hanyu is my favorite current skater among men, and I thought that alone may jinx him. However, I forgot how tough he really is mentally. I admire his humility. Last night after the SP when Andrea asked him about his LP, he said I just want to skate.

I was happy that NBC showed a shot of downtown Tokyo, with a crowd watching the men's competition.

I am thinking of buying a Pooh bear now, the one resembling Yuzuru's.

Plushenko is happy, he wanted Hanyu to win. And he was right he said some days ago: Yuzuru likely to win the Winter Olympics again and Yuzu can win with salchow and toe only. And he wanted Javi to a medal.

Hanyu just revealed in his press conference that he is STILL injured and not fully recovered.

It's a miracle he pulled it off.
Yes, Yuzuru said his ankle is not fully recovered yet: https://twitter.com/rockerskating/status/964753568325623808
I am so proud of him. All these years being his fan, all these struggles finally pays off.
I love the land of Korea.

And do you know that Yuzuru won the 1000th Olympic Gold, talk about LEGEND: https://twitter.com/GeumNa/status/964748824605466624

Mind over matter for Yuzuru. I hope he allows his injury to fully heal. Sounds like we may not see him at worlds this year and I am ok with it. I want to see him fully healthy and back for the next quad. He is still young.

Yude from golden Skate forum said this. I am afraid he will not go to Worlds in Milan. I hope him a well recovery.

Yomiuri newspaper reported this morning that he started jumping quad 10 days before the competition, but it didn't mean that he was fully healed and he had to take potent medicine to calm down his pain. I was very shocked reading this but I didn't post it here because I thought it was better not to since it was just right before FS and we needed to be positive and supportive for him. And I also thought we'll get more information later from Yuzuru directly.

Amazing amazing amazing!! Congratulations to Yuzu and his fans. What a phenomenal champion.

I’ve been watching figure skating with my dad for these past few days, who knows nothing about the sport, and he actually gasped and said “wow” at the ease and beauty of Yuzu’s elements and overall skating. Even to people who know nothing about skating his quality is immediately apparent.

So happy for him. To hear that he’s accomplished this while still injured is just mind-boggling.

Before I saw Yuzuru's SP, I thought it would be a miracle if he wins the OGM this time, given the training time he had missed. I shouldn't have underestimated his mental strength. Physically this is like a miracle because his injury has not completely healed. It is incredible what he pulled off. He is going to be such an inspiration to skaters in Japan and worldwide!
