After having done the 6.0 judging and watchparty for 1998 Ladies Worlds SP, which IJS competition should we watch and judge next?
(Date to be determined; please leave suggestions in here, but keep in mind there should be enough time for judges to score in advance)

Poll expires in 2 days.

Once the competition is chosen, everyone who wants to judge can confirm in this thread. Or confirm already, when you know you would do whatever event :D
Based on the motivation (and time) of the judges, we could even judge the entire event of all options (not only GPF ones), as all SP's/RD's/FS's are online too.

This time we try to do the watchparty after we have FSU judges results, so we can present them already in the watchparty.
@alchemy void and myself still trying to figure out how we gonna make this work :p

Looking forward to it!

Just to clarify, the 2016 GPF was the one held in Dec 2016, but is technically part of the 2017 season? Same with the 2015 being part of the 2016 season?

Exactly.
And same with the Ice Dance GPF 2017 as part of the olympic season.

I'd like to judge any event, but I voted for the 2015 Pairs GPF since it has Yu/Jin. :cheer2: Also, for whatever reason, I find IJS singles kind of boring to judge, and the dance events are too recent and will probably be a regurgitation of the the same ice dance fan wars.

I am really curious of 2010 results by FSU judges but I don't want the thread to be the usual fan-drama.

And I love pairs more, so maybe everyone of us voted for any pairs event should change the vote last second and focus on one pair event :skandal:p

I vote for Fan Drama - it could be months before we have new Fan Drama so we might as well rehash 10 year-old fan drama.

As 2010 seems the frontrunner so far.
Anyone knows, where to can find the Scale of Values from back then? I am kinda lost :shuffle: :gallopin1
Thanks.

I have a copy of ISU Communication 1494, for the 2008-09 season. There probably wasn't much change for 2009-10 because there wasn't an ISU Congress in between.

There were big changes between 2010 and 2011 (introduction of < vs. << distinction, introduction of choreo sequence, etc., as documented in ISU Communication 1611).

So our little pairs revolt did not work out :D
So Plushy vs Lysacek, Olympic Men FS 2010, it is :EVILLE:

Following posters have already announced their interest in judging.

Tech Controller:@alchemy void FSU
Tech Specialist:@misskarne FSU
Tech Assistant: @skatingguy FSU

Judge 1: @Jeschke 🇩🇪
Judge 2: @casken 🇫🇷
Judge 3: @Marco
Judge 4: @kwanatic
Judge 5: @morqet 🇬🇧
Judge 6: @rosetintmyworld 🇨🇭
Judge 7: @ChelleC 🇮🇳
Judge 8: @RoseRed 🇨🇦
Judge 9: @Plusdinfo 🇦🇪

Not sure anyone wants to join the tech panel. Are we giving @misskarne full power here or will you act as a judge? :watch:

Everyone who is interested in judging please speak out and confirm in here, tell me which country you'd like to represent, and note, if you would judge SP too, or only FS.

If we have full panel for SP, we present scores of SP before the FS watchparty. So we would have the complete FSU result.

Judges will have enough time to judge. Spreadsheets will be handed out once panel is complete and we know if to judge FS only or both.

Any interest by our 6.0 event judges?

Foiled by one vote! :drama: I demand a recount. :mitchell:

All you judges are going to put Dai in first place anyway. :p

really - for the < and << calls.
There was only < call for a quarter (or more missing) which was already a downgrade.
This was Miki‘s dilemma with all her 3lz3lo combos back then, or am I wrong?
<< was later.

Oh, I also found ISU Communication 1555, which is dated June 2009. I can't find it online.

There are a number of small updates from Comm. 1494 throughout. Not sure what would be the best way to communicate them all. Is it possible to attach a document to a PM?

From the last page, the "Remarks and clarifications" may be of interest:

1. Jump elements and Throw jumps

1.1. The sign “<” will not be shown to the Judges. They will evaluate the GOE as they see it (without slow motion).
1.2. When establishing the GOE, poor take-off includes cheating at the take-off and putting the full blade on the ice in toe jumps. In throw jumps it includes turning of the Man on the ice before throwing the Lady in the air.

2. Spins

In Pairs Short Program the Solo Spin Combination must have at least 2 revolutions in 2 basic positions (correction of printing mistake in Technical Rules, page 97, subparagraph e).

3. Spiral Sequences

In both Singles and Pairs, when establishing the GOE, Judges should take into account the quality of the execution without evaluating duration of each position (as they have no tool for this evaluation). The duration of each spiral position will be evaluated by the Technical Panel which will take this duration into account, when establishing the Level of Difficulty of the Spiral Sequence.

3.2. In Singles (like in Pairs), if there is only one spiral position (three seconds long), no Level and therefore no value will be awarded.
3.3. In both Singles and Pairs, if a free leg drops at the hip level (or lower) and then comes back to the allowed position (higher than the hip level), this continuation should be ignored and not counted as a new position by the Technical Panel. The Judges will evaluate the quality of the whole sequence.

4. Lifts

Any break in the continuous rotation longer than 3 sec. will be considered as a carry attempt.

Yay! The men's event won. Add me to the judges' list please! :cheer2:

Funny enough, I didn't follow the men closely back then so I actually don't know what the fan drama was concerning this one. I think that will make me a good judge to have on the panel since I'm somewhat blind coming in and will be seeing about 90% of these performances for the first time.

I'm in.

I would be fine doing both the SP and LP, spread over the course of the summer. Keep in mind, if we're implementing a technical panel, this will realistically take a longer period of time to judge.

Not sure anyone wants to join the tech panel. Are we giving @misskarne full power here or will you act as a judge? :watch:

If we have more than nine judges, I would volunteer to be the technical controller. I don't think a 3 person tech panel would be such a bad idea.
