Hutch Junior College is the National Champions of JUCO football. It has a good selection of technical AD degrees. The science museum has been mentioned.

My son graduated from their technical program with electrical skills including climate issues. Skilled jobs will be the ones everyone will depend on in the future

It may not be a prestige university or 4 year programs but we will be clamouring for technical skills. He works with car repairs particularly electrical components. When @Private Citizen is evaluating outcomes - these programs do outcome based education.

None of those programs interest you or would draw you to visit.

The Cosmosphere museum is excellent and students contribute to the displays and work. One or two of the projects were part of his program.

Not a big city experience like Boston or CO Springs, and Wichita is experiencing an unusual cold/snow for the area. Just like the rest of the country. Most attendees are there for skating anyway. I know I rarely left the arena when I attended.

At the airport. SW had a note on their app last night about expecting TSA delays at BWI (and i assume those flying from Dulles and Reagan got it too) b/c of post-Inauguration travel and advising to get there 3 hours early. My flight is at 7:30, no way was i getting here that early. I figured with TSA Pre-check and not checking a bag, I'd be fine with the standard 2 hours.

Anyway, airport is dead. No one in line at TSA, I had to pull out my ID while I stood there in front of the agent, I told him I'm used to having a long wait so plenty of time to get it out. He seemed a bit amused. Now at the gate, plane is here, I'm hoping that's a good sign.

But OMG, it is fcuking cold out there!

@Debbie S, I had the same suggested arrival time from Southwest for travel out of DCA on an 8 AM flight yesterday (Monday), and the same quick trip through security. That was after Southwest cancelled my original flight for Sunday afternoon, for no discernible reason. I suspect they hadn't sold many tickets.

[outside of skating here in Wichitia] We drove over to Hutchinson (about an hour away) to the Cosmosphere Museum (https://cosmo.org/) – the second best air and space museum we’ve ever been to (and we’re professionals in this area). Highly recommended if you have half a day and car. We spent more than the typical 4 hours there…but totally worth it!
I’ve been meaning to drive over and see it. My brother worked on several of the replicas/models.

I’m at the Intrust Arena watching practice. The arena is just fine. Seats are comfortable. My only snark is that two different employees were impressed that I came “all that way” just to watch skating. One more comment like that and I’m going to have an epic meltdown.
Well where did you come from??? Hahaha No worries I was telling my Lyft drivers and I could hear the thoughts in their head like WTH?

Anyone know a good place to buy boots or shoes for the weather? My worn down sneakers are not going to cut it lol

Just saw they also have a Cabela’s.

Thanks I might check those places out if I can’t find something closer to the arena/hotel. I am surprised how empty the street are here.

The streets were also empty downtown this summer. Seems like a town where everyone sticks to the suburbs.

It's a workday. I also think I heard the kids had a winter day?
Lol I mean even on a workday I am kind of use to seeing more than two cars driving on the street at 3pm. That is when I left my hotel to walk to the arena.

Oh no, and it seems drilled into the cement

Oh yeah there’s no moving it. We moved over one seat for tonight and it’s better but when the big events start we’ll try to hop across the aisle and sit in front of the trial judges. No tickets in that section were sold. Just annoyed that they’d even sell this seat with this obstruction.

Totally and completely. Those do not seem like valid seats.

Hey, there so Peacock has a wide shot and I can see exactly those gates/bars behind the judges. I’m trying to see if I can see the back of your head.

I wasn’t planning on it but let me know if you do. I’m actually one row higher so it is not too bad.
The only thing I contemplated doing is asking if they could move us to the first row of Sec. 116. USFS put up signs last night on the first few rows of 116 that say Reserved for Trial Judges, but they weren't sitting in the first row. I don't want to be moved anywhere else. The view from our seats is one of the best I've ever had except for the stupid railing. I'm hoping the person in seat 3 next to us got snowed in somewhere and won't make it. Just sliding over one seat makes all the difference.

I hope they can do something for you!
