War in Israel

I think you misunderstood that part if you watched the same broadcast I did.
It could be as I wasn’t feeling well yesterday and felt wiped last night. I was going to look at it again today. I kinda caught 1/2 of it on cbc gem. Normally it’s a day behind on the app too. Nope it was current for a change last night.

What I mixed up was that it was a blockade blocking them from leaving. Horrors on both sides 😔

I’m not putting this in here to be political, I started to post it in the PI thread but it has more to do with how Israelis are feeling.

Here we have an anchor on Israel’s equivalent of Fox News who has been highly critical of the Biden administration and very supportive of Bibi et al. After Biden’s speech, the anchor looked at the camera and delivered a full-throated and emotional thank you, personally to Biden and also to the American people, for the support, the understanding and yes even the carriers and the ammunition. He apologizes for what he’s said about Biden in the past…it’s amazing.

Of course it’s in Hebrew and I can’t translate the whole thing. Watch it anyway because the body language and vocal/facial expression say so much.

The world should gather up all the extremist zionists and the extreme Islamists and put them in a big arena and just let them kill each other to their hearts content so the rest can get on with living their lives. It would solve so many problems.
Nyet!

Put them in that arena without any weapons but their minds and let them debate each other to their hearts' content. ☮️

@Andrey aka Pushkin @MsZem @PRlady @TAHbKA 🤗

I had no idea Israel had a mafia (I guess every country does, why not Israel?). The things you learn on FSU.....
In fact there had been a massive crime wave before the war, including many murders within Arab communities and protection-related crime throughout the country. But crime is currently down and criminals are doing their part, too!

I strongly suggest everyone avoid the details about what happened in Be'eri and Kfar Aza. Trust me: it was horrific in ways you do not want to think about.

I already accidentally saw it. For others that haven’t .. just don’t. 😔

Thanks for the warning. I won't see it.

You mean a Thunderdome, Mad Max style? "We don't need another hero..." (Tina Turner) A weird movie, but it keeps popping back in my head when wars erupt. Except then we would have leaders with more muscle than brains, probably juiced on drugs, etc. Maybe I thought about this more than I should. :shuffle:

I can't get it to play but I read the comments by others. Good to see Biden receive positive feedback. Republicans are still blaming Biden for This attack (sounds like it).

A confirmed 3rd Canadian with family ties to my city. At least her two children survived. Read at your own risk 😔. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/wor...moments-before-canadian-womans-kidnapping-by/

It is becoming difficult to read the stories, though I watch some on tv. Very sorry to hear about the Canadian. I can't even imagine what the people there must be going through.

Lawrence interviewed Dan Goldman today. He said this attack was completely different from what the Israeli citizens are used to (there is always tension).

As I’ve posted before, Goldman’s brother Bill was on the board of my former org and was a friend before his tragic death in a plane crash. Bill was an academic and a Californian and much about Israeli daily life baffled him, he used to hang with me because I could speak Hebrew to the cab drivers and provide the cigarettes his wife didn’t allow.

One thing that astonished Bill was the casualness with which Israelis accepted periodic outbreaks of violence: he came on the board right before one such in 2012. He so respected the bravery of people on BOTH sides living under very UN-Californian conditions.

He would be heartbroken this week.

What other choice do we have? It's either deal with it or move away...

But what happened on October 7th is so far beyond anything that it's in a different universe.

Fox News now doing great journalism ... I didn't like the clown and pony show from before / Trumped news...

And, Isreal was kinda neutral for Ukraine...Did they make a mistake ?

No. Netaniyahu's campaign included a huge poster of him shaking hands with Putin. The mistake was the current government. The rest is just a consiquence
