I am super excited!! They could actually bring glory back to Russian pair skating. Yes, yes, I know they already won Olympic Gold, but they could actually become one of the all time greats (if they are given good programmes which Jesus Christ was everything but!). After the embarrassing exit of Stolbova & Klimov, it's up to V&T to come back and show who is boss :p

If Aliona & Bruno are allowed to skate as well, pairs skating will be too exciting for words!

V&T vs D&R vs S&M - :smokin: :skandal :revenge: :argue: :angryfire

me ---> :biggrinbo

We may see the first round at Nebelhorn Trophy:cheer:. IIRC Aliona said that if Bruno was released in the summer they would start competing there!
With them, V/T, D/R, S/K, T/M, K/S and all the chinese pairs, next season is gonna be amazing!:rollin:

http://sportstories.rsport.ru/ss_photo/20150421/825035979_825034063.html Some photos of them at a charity event with children. They're so cute. I hope it doesn't give them any ideas about retiring and starting a family - not that having a baby would mean she has to stop skating. Max looks ridiculously huge on those rides.

No, but it could mean taking a year off (like Irina Rodnina). I don't think they can afford to do that, considering how competitive the pairs field is now. Hopefully they will wait until after 2018.

Well they already lost a season, so I'm sure they wouldn't want to lose another one. And IIRC in an interview a couple of months ago Maxim said that now they are thinking about the next olympics so children will come right after that ;).

ETA: Here's the link to the NTV interview with subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPsbn_u9vyY (creds to borzaya from GSF).

According to this article ( though i don't know how reliable the source is ) - http://zanews.ru/shou-biznes/55070-v...venchanii.html

- they're planning to have their wedding this summer
cheer.gif

- they don't want the wedding to be completely traditional, though Tanya believes her dress will be classic and white

- they don't have their wedding rings yet

- Tanya says she is still not ready to change her name, maybe she will add Maxim's, so it'll be Volosozhar- Trankova

- Arrangements in the registry office in Moscow will be done in the near future. Right afterwards they will get married because they decided not postpone it.

Well, if they are surely coming back, my hope is that V/T do something exciting and well beyond what they've done in the past, which was beautiful to watch aesthetically (wows re some of their technical mastery), but never reached the level of iconic or especially memorable.

I agree with this. Although I loved their Masquerade Waltz SP a lot. That was iconic for me but it was the only one, unfortunately.
They can do so much more. I keep imaging them skating to K&S LP this season, it could've been really beautiful, with all due respect to K&S.

I've thought the same, K&S LP would have been amazing on them, maybe we would have been able to see it more consistently cause that program is a jewel. I just don't get why Morozov all the time. Sure he can make good programs (I can't recall any at the moment but I'm sure there are) and it helps to get the points but they can get something better than that.

Just imagine what Moskvina could do with them. I hope that now that they've won everything they can go for something more artistic, that really puts them between the GOAT in pairs (cause I do think they can reach it).

I love some of Morozov's program for Dai, almost all of them actually but he didn't choreographed them all. He did a good job with I&K swan lake and P&T SP in Sochi, but I don't like the rest of his work. In anycase, I don't understand why him always either. I really do hope they are going to change, although I suspect they will keep their programs they worked on this season. I'm told one (I can't remember if it's the SP or LP) is really good. I hope so.

Morozov did Masquerade Waltz which is IMO probably the second best pairs SP of all time, after B&S' La Califfa, so he's capable, and I don't know why he mostly doesn't create anything special.

I read that V&T plan on keeping the two programs they had for last year, which were both his, so I'm really disappointed. In terms of their skating and elements, they are surely one of the best pairs ever, and I wish they had the choreography to support that. Unpopular opinion alert, but I felt the same way about Gordeeva/Grinkov who did their best stuff as pros.

I agree with this. Their Masquerade Waltz SP is iconic, I think, and the only memorable V/T program so far. It actually took me a while to warm up to that program, the reason being that I loved the version of it that Domnina/Shabalin did a few years back (i think in 2007-08). Domnina/Shabalin's Masquerade Waltz FD was, to my mind, almost the perfect interpretation of that music. But I see now that V/T's program is also a masterpiece and shows off all of V/T's best qualities.

I don't remember what V/T's new SP music is but I remember the LP is to Dracula, and that makes me nervous. I can just see Max going completely OTT with his costume and facial hair.

The SP music is from a Bollywood film (Ram-leela), the name is Nagada Sang Dhol :).

Alan Silvestri usually has great soundtracks for films, he's one of my favorite composers (and I don't know why till now someone chose to skate to his music :shuffle:) so I'm really excited to see what they can do with his music, and of course with Dracula.

I was actually more worried for the SP. I've listened the song and watch the movie lots of times and I loved it :biggrinbo I'm just a bit worried for the 'cultural apropiation' and how they will make work such a 'dancable' theme? But with your comments Amantide I'm much calmer (and excited) now.
Is gonna be a long wait till we see their programs :(.
