US Figure Skating Nationals Predictions

PAIRS: I think Efimova & Mitrofanov will successfully defend; followed by Kam & O'Shea; McBeath & Parkman; and Shin & Nagy. Shin & Nagy will join Kam & O'Shea in Milan, while the top 3 will be named to Worlds. Liu & Bedard will head to Four Continents.

Your thoughts...
You think Chan/Howe are going to finish behind the 4 teams you named as well as Liu/Bedard?

Ok -- maybe they'll finish 5th in front of Liu & Bedard. No doubt they have some great pairs skills, but I have no confidence in Emily executing throws and sbs jumps and it just brings down the rest of the program for me. For the life of me, I still CANNOT fathom how she went from swishing 3toe-3toe en route to a junior title to a deer in the headlights every time she jumps.

LOL. This is US pairs we're talking about here. Alisa and Ellie aren't any more likely to execute all of their throws & SBS jumps than Emily. ShiNagy are still a work in progress and the only way they beat ChanHowe is with a lot of help from the USFS powers that be.

I'm sorry but there is an actual universe in which chan/howe screw up badly and shin/nagy skate perfectly and could beat them. Like are the odds good? No. But everything is not some conspiracy lol.

I realize that there is an actual universe where that can happen, but as you said, the odds are not very high of that happening. What is possible is that it winds up being closer than it should be and somehow ShiNagy get an unnecessary push over ChanHowe because of the USFS powers that be.

But, realistically, I expect ShiNagy to blow up when the pressure is on because that's what they've done every time they've been in a pressure situation in the past year starting with 2025 Nats. Winning Golden Spin, which was a relatively low pressure situation for them, isn't anything to hang hats or make bets on when it comes to ShiNagy's ability to deliver two good programs - especially with what is looking to be a packed house on Friday night.

Of all the people who have made posts so far yours I identify with yours the most.

On second thought, now that I looked at it closer, not so much. Tee-hee Love you anyways.

I am making wild wild guesses. I watched the men's practice and kept thinking, that guy's so good, he's going to medal. And the next one: No, HE'S gonna medal.

I have no idea. Only solid prediction is that the Olympic team will be really strong.
