I'm surprised they still haven't announced the Men's international selections given the gala started at 7 pm CT?!?
Well, they may have already notified the skaters and are just working on getting the press release/social media announcement done.

I just found Jackie's tweet to be... Odd. He's clearly well-connected and it's not like him to drop a comment like that without thinking there was some significant chance Jason could still be named to the team.

I didn't read his comment that way. I thought he was addressing the assumption/reporting that Jason had petitioned by saying that there actually has been no confirmation that he has petitioned.

Even if he petitions, there's still a good chance that he won't be ready for Worlds. I really do hope that it is equipment issues (or focusing on things other than preparing for competitions) and not injury-related. There have been times in the past when he has not publicly disclosed injuries.

I don't have a ton of confidence that whoever is the third guy in Boston will skate great. (I hope they prove me wrong!) I hope that our two other guys can do enough to take care of three spots for the Olympics. I also hope that there are three guys next season who make it clear that they should be on the Olympic team. (Having said that, jumping content aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the men's competition at Nationals. It was my favorite discipline.)

If the US is going to maintain 3 spots it will be because Ilia & Torgy skate well. The third guy's job is to qualify for the free skate.
To this point, someone on X commented that the 3rd guy needs to be whomever has the best SP score after Ilia & Torgy.

Booooooo (n)(n)(n)(n)(n)(n). And Ashley Wagner needs to do a better job commentating after spreading the misinformation that Brown wasn't petitioning and getting all of our hopes up.

I almost wonder if Ashley's information was correct and Jason's going to withdraw anyway (sort of like Amber and 4CC)? Could this be a courtesy assignment to maintain funding or something like that?

This is why i say nationals is pretty much meaningless at this point.
I'm not sure I'd agree it's completely meaningless. Andrew having an incredible skate really did help to solidify his place and make it so they couldn't possibly deny him a spot on the world team. So in that respect it probably meant something.

I, for one (probably), am thrilled. I hope the monitoring goes well, and he can be there. I’ve never seen him skate live and I’m going to Boston.

If you look at just the Grand Prix:

Brown 79.03 SC
Brown 77.08 NHK

Pulkinen 64.48 GPdF
Pulkinen 64.34 Finlandia

Naumov 73.11 SA

Hiwatashi 74.59 NHK

The cutoff to make the FS at worlds last year was 73.23.

Yup. The only other reasonable choice they could make, IMO, based on the season so far, is Jacob - and his scores are all at junior events, so you know he wouldn't score as high at Worlds, even if his skating does warrant it.

Nothing against Jason but he's not the skater he once was and next year at Nationals i have a feeling he is going to find out especially if some of the other guys get it together.

But, seriously, I'm laughing so hard at this choice. Like, if any of these guys had had their act even relatively together this fall to have posted at least a couple of comparable SP scores to what Jason did at his two GPs, they'd be on the Worlds team instead. But, nope, they save their best for Nats and Nats alone and now, they're getting no benefit of the doubt.

Hopefully Camden & Max will demonstrate they're at least somewhat trustworthy at 4CCs with the Worlds assignment.

I'm of two minds about that announcement:

Personally I find it terrible.

But... as beloved as Jason is, I'm guessing the USFS figures there is little chance he doesn't make the FS unless he falls two or more times. Plus if they have indeed been (as rumored by TSL) ponying up extra funding to him to keep competing, I'm guessing they want their money's worth as a business arrangement.
