http://results.isu.org/ws/wr2020-21/wrmen.htm #1 only for the last season but weighted toward Hanyu otherwise? Sorry, I think that this is messed up.
They really need to address the rankings - they'll never be completely accurate, but they should be a little closer to reality. Maybe five best international results regardless of limits on number of Grand Prix events.

The WS rankings generally reward skaters who compete more often so someone like Nathan, who competed less than normal over the last few years, will be negatively affected as a result. That said, I think it's kind of understood that rankings are going to be screwed up for some time due to the pandemic so I wouldn't worry too much about them.

I agree. Even if WC 2020 had happened with Nathan coming in 1st and Hanyu 2nd or 3rd, the WS rankings at this point in time would still be the same because he didn't compete at 4CC 2020. The only difference is that the point gap would have been slightly smaller but not that much tbh.

No, 4CC (and Euros) is in the same category as Worlds, a major ISU championship. Skaters count one of those per season. If WC had happened, Nathan would have those points. Since it didn't, he has no major championship points for that season.

Agree with the comments upthread that it's not worth worrying about. Barring disaster this fall, he should be in the final group for the SP at the Olys. And even if not, he's still Nathan and will still be awesome. I doubt he's worried about his world ranking.

Ah, ok, so if WC had happened, they'd only have counted WC for Hanyu (and not 4CC)?

Correct. Well, assuming Hanyu earned more points from his WC placement than 4CC. They count the highest number of points from a championship. The 4CC/Euros scale is a bit lower than WC, but occasionally, skaters/teams do end up having their 4CC/Euros points counted vs WC.

If Nathan had won 2020 Worlds his total would be 2040 + 0.7(1200) = 2880
If Hanyu had finished 2nd at 2020 Worlds his total would be 2554 + 0.7(1080) - 588 = 2722

Got it! Thank you both!!

Figured the ISU would have to update the rankings, as Cranberry and LPID internationals are coming up this week and the JGP next week.

I haven't seen Eric Prober who won Jr. Mens at 2021 U. S. Nationals mentioned at all. Is Eric still competing?

Would it be fair to assume after Cranberry that the SA spot would go to Jimmy Ma (Paniot and Naumov would also be good choices) and Nebelhorn to Vincent Zhou?

After this weekend, I think Vincent is definitely going to Nebelhorn. And the SA spot will either be Jimmy or Paniot.

I think Jimmy is the most likely? Although I would expect both Paniot and Naumov to get senior Bs. Paniot has the second highest summer score, but having not seen Glacier Falls, I don't know how his actual performance at Glacier Falls compares to Cranberry, whereas Cranberry gave USFS a direct comparison. Naumov already has one GP. Paniot and Ma have none. So my money is on the TBA spot goes to Ma, Vincent to Nebelhorn, and both Paniot and Naumov (and probably Ma) to Senior Bs.

I agree. I guess we will find out soon. Isn’t champs camp this coming weekend or maybe next week?

Last week of August, I believe.

Listed on the ISU website for Lombardia Trophy (Sept. 10-12 in Bergamo, Italy), the 1st Challenger Series comp. of the season (eta that USFS' International Assignments page is updated now & confirms these assignments):
Tomoki HIWATASHI
Yaroslav PANIOT

Ilia Malinin (drew last, #14, to skate) and Lucas Broussard (#4 to skate) are set to compete in the SP tomorrow at the first JGP in Courchevel, France (competition thread is started in the Kiss & Cry section).
Top 11 Junior Men's summer comp. total scores as of today:
...
170.29 Goku Endo (Orange County Open this past weekend, only skater)
2 junior men have been added to the ISP:
Goku Endo (67.21 in SP + 103.08 in FS - got credit for 3Aq = 1 bonus point in SP; 3A< in FS)
Philip Baker (65.89 in SP + 99.74 in FS at Cranberry Open)
