Mmmm, on the tape, it looks like Maximum Security bobbed and weaved a bit on two different crucial occasions down the stretch but slightly I'd say. Plus, Maximum Security was leading throughout most of the race. I'm not an expert, but I don't think it was the horse's fault. Maybe the jockey should be fined, but it's a very close call and a harsh call to strip Maximum Security of the win, therefore I have to say,
DISAGREE (although I might feel differently if I knew more about the disqualified jockey's career and all of the horses' overall performances this season)
Favorite Triple Crown Winner:
Affirmed
Secretariat
American Pharoah
Justify
Most Difficult Triple Crown Loss in Belmont:
California Chrome
Funny Cide
Spectacular Bid
War Emblem
Real Quiet
Silver Charm
Sunday Silence
Smarty Jones
(My choices are American Pharoah and Secretariat almost equally, but AP broke a serious drought; and War Emblem followed by California Chrome and Spectacular Bid)
I love both interlopers, but the visuals and audience reaction are unbeatable for
Music loving dog!
Kangaroos
or
Dolphins
And btw, after reading up on the 2019 KD race, I was absolutely right in my estimation. The jockey who came in second on Country House was not really impeded. The two jockeys who actually were slightly impeded on their horses never complained, and they had more right to complain. If anything, the jockeys on the horses who were impeded likely had a chance to beat Country House, but none of the horses in the race were going to beat Maximum Security (the favorite), even without the slight impeding. As I said, the jockey (Luis Saez) should have been fined but his horse, Maximum Security, deserved the win. Country House does not have a chance to win the Triple Crown, whereas Maximum Security might have. The sport just shot itself in the foot (i.e., pocket book), and angered a lot of bettors who lost huge amounts of money.
