There was a while back a tiny little debate in my country of birth Trinidad. There is a local type of Christmas music called parang that is curiously enough traditional sang in Spanish. Daisy Voisin is one of my favourite parang singers from childhood. But in recent times artists have tend to sing parang tunes in English only. Traditionalists would prefer they stick to Spanish. Which form do you prefer?

Hmm - I'm conflicted because I tend to want to respect how cultures want to do things (especially something like this that's reasonable) BUT I also have a problem with telling person X that they individually have to do something in X way in expressing themselves.

But this is for published works, not someone singing at home or in the shower......so you have to think about the audience if you want them to buy your songs.
