The Voice Season 14 Spring 2018

I've only been impressed by a few people. But lots of people rise to the occasion in the battle rounds & surprise me.

I think you quoted the wrong person. I don't think I said that.
no, you just asked what i meant and i explained.

A lot will depend on how she plays the battle rounds. Every time there's a new coach, there's a potential for making a mistake that ends up being costly.
yeah i guess so. have any new judges won? because after christina's departure they just can't find a permanent member anymore.

Alicia won on her first try.

When CeeLo had to leave, it opened the door for rotating the coaches. I don’t think the producers plan to fill seats 2 and 3 permanently.

Ugh, Sundance Head. Talk about getting multiple chances... he went pretty far on Idol, had a record deal afterward, then went on the Voice... has he been heard from since?

Not as far as I know... I've only seen him on a single commercial of the Voice since. I folly Billy on social media through Facebook and IG but as far as I can tell, his music opportunities have been limited and he hasn't had the big career revival that I was hoping he would.

I liked Billy's voice & I even bought some of his music but I didn't vote for him the last couple of weeks. I can't remember why or who I voted for but it certainly wasn't Sundance.

I don't think NBC is the least bit concerned with what happens after the show itself nor do I think ABC will be with American Idol. They don't receive any revenue from tours or records etc. The record companies care and it's really up to them and the winner's agent to promote the contestants.

The battles started last night & I really enjoyed most of them. And I picked 5 out of 6 winners but that wasn't hard for most of them since several of the losers were fodder. The one I missed was Brynn vs Dylan - Kelly kept Brynn but Blake stole Dylen - I thought they were so evenly matched but I really preferred Dylan. My favorite battle was between Jackie & D.R. King. (Kelly &) I picked D.R. but Jackie was fabulous too. The other 3 coaches tried to steal her but she chose Adam.

Last night also solidified that Kelly chose well during the blinds. Both of her singers who lost their battles were stolen. The 3rd steal was from Adam's team.

I love love love Dylan too, taf. The guy just has IT. Just finished watching the rest of it, awesome.

I had thought that this year's crop was kind of meh but I'm really enjoying the battles. Most of the people really have stepped up, even some of the ones I originally didn't like. I don't always understand the steals (or lack of steals) though. Take Jaclyn for example. I was surprised she got a chair to turn & I thought she obviously lost her battle but then Blake stole her. Of course most of his steals are young girls.....

Now that they know more about their original teams, the steals can be for fodder for the knock outs. Blake has used this strategy a lot to avoid putting people he likes up against each other.

Knockin' On Heaven's Door was my favorite battle. They both sounded great. I wasn't originally impressed by Miya (former cop for NY) but I can see her potential now.

That last steal from Alicia was underwhelming. So far I don't find any of them memorable (at least the ones that were shown in full). I'm actually finding the AI contestants more memorable at this point.

Why didn't Alicia have Terrance & Livia battle earlier when the other coaches would have steals left? Livia definitely deserved to be stolen. Maybe Alicia didn't want anyone else to have her.

We don’t see the battles in the exact order, so I try hard not to read anything into it.

I don't know if Alicia can decide the order of the battles.

Last night the first knockouts - and the show had no sound. I started to watch my DVR about an hour after it started & there was a notice on the screen from my cable co that they would fix asap. What worried me was that my DVR would stop recording at 9:00 & it would have recorded the 2 hours with no sound. But when it was fixed the playback was perfect & complete, thank goodness. I enjoyed most of the performances. The cream is starting to rise to the top so it was hard to pick a favorite. Nobody sucked.

the knockouts are done & I enjoyed most of them. I thought the previous winners as mentors were mostly helpful & it was fun to see them again. Jordon smith has a wicked sense of humor. the one who surprised me the most was Cassaddee Pope. she is so professional now & had good advice. I thought it was too soon for Chloe to be a mentor as she has had very little experience plus her advice wasn't very good & was often opposed to blake's.

Last night was the recap of each coaches' team which I always enjoy because by this time in the show I keep getting confused on who is who & which team are they on. Some teams are stronger than others but they all have at least one contestant who could win.

My picks for best on each team:

Kelly: Brynn, Caleb, D.R.

Blake: Spensha, Pryor

Alicia: Terrance, Johnny, Britten, Jackie Foster

Adam: Rayshun, Sherane, Jackie Verna

I don't have a clue who I'll be voting for.

I thought Sonika's (AI15) version of Bring Me To Life was better than Jackie Foster's. More convincing.

Ehh...no one really stood out after the knockouts. Maybe Britten is the best at this point. Maybe Spensha/Wilkes/Dylan would be next.

Shouting doesn't equate to good voice which the coaches don't seem to care.

Kelly almost let Dylan get away b/c she didn't want too many males on her team. Again, I really don't understand why the coaches are obsessed with having a balanced team. Just pick the singers that sing well, regardless of gender, genre, etc. Don't make the decision difficult. There were several singers who were not stolen, no chair turn b/c of the coaches were looking for a specific type of singer to fill up their team, regardless if they sang well or not.

I think britten is my fav too at this point . who knows who I'll like next

I understand the coaches wanting a balanced team. They don't want a singer who will be in direct competition to someone else on their team. you notice even Blake doesn't usually fill up his team with country. If he has an old school country then he'll have one that is more progressive country.

Watching the Playoffs tonight. I don't remember this format. I feel like I'm watching in fast forward, which is fine because we don't have to sit through tons of judges' comments.

Kelly's team up first and boy do some of them sound flat or off-key or something :scream: Maybe they're nervous?

Yeah, but having 3hrs of recap episodes is just excessive (one after the battles, the other after knockouts, both within 2 weeks of each other, which is too close). I would rather watch unaired battles, knockout, and blind auditions. Maybe they don't want to spend extra money producing unaired performances.

LOL @ Adam for not liking the new playoff format, calling it 'stupid' or something like that. I kinda like it. I don't have to listen all the bs praises from the coaches. I was not wowed by a single performance. Christiana's version of 'Take Me To Church' was awful. Don't know why Alicia saved her. Surprised that Alicia didn't save Terrence. All the judges thought he would be in the finale during the blinds. I think Alicia was surprised Jackie was voted in by the public. At this point, I think Britten is the best, even if his latest performance wasn't his best. That's how weak this season's team is.

I like just about everyone. I think overall they are much better than the ones on AI. I was sorry to see D.R. King go but he didn't do his best on Monday. My least fav is Cristiana. She sings off key every time.

Rayshun overdoes his performances. Maybe that's why he's in the bottom two. The two Jackie's look similar. I get confused between the two. Jackie Foster's performance was kinda awkward. I did not like DR King's version of 'White Flag'.
