I don't know what it is but the first 2 audition shows don't feel quite as fun as usual. Maybe it's JHud who is bringing the tone of the show down. I've loved all the different judges until now but I'm not enjoying her at all. She was better last night than she was on Monday. She keeps breaking into song/screech & she seems too competitive aka unpleasant when she's not picked. And the talent doesn't blow me away yet. No one is memorable for me except the really horrible ones.

So far, I think I like Brooke (Native American girl) the best. Also, Chris (worship leader/drag queen) and the girl (can't remember her name right now) who closed the show on the 2nd night by singing the Chris Stapleton version of "You Are My Sunshine." But, I have a feeling we haven't seen the eventual winner of the show yet. I share your views on JHud ... she's a little over the top. Maybe she'll settle down and be a good mentor once the teams are chosen.

I like Brooke and Chris too. I do find JHud annoying. I think Blake is looking at her like "newbie" when she turns around so quickly.

It doesn't bother me that she waits till someone else rings in. Miley did that too the 1st year she did the show. And the coaching she gave was really good. It's just the attention-hogging she needs to rein in.

This week the battles began. I'm not surprised this thread isn't active. The talent is good, not great so far. My favorite was Damon who was 1st battle on Tuesday. And I like the Amer Indian, I think her name is Brooke. I hope they are saving the best for week 2. BTW, there will be only 4 live rounds this year. :blah:

I've never watched the show until this year, but I don't find JHud any more attention seeking then Miley or Adam.
Blake's Blake. He's beige and inoffensive.
I find the talent pretty impressive, but I still think there's a battle between great singers and ok singers with commercial appeal.
So far I have a hard time seeing anyone sell records.

Going back to the blind auditions, is that the first time they showed a contestant that failed to get a chair turn twice? I'm sure that there are more contestants that failed to get a chair turn more than twice. Just wondering what prompted them to show that contestant.

I thought that Christina Aguilera had an all female team in one of the seasons, but it backfired. If so, then Miley isn't the first to have an all female team as she keeps claiming.

In the blinds I thought Jennifer was so. freaking. annoying. that I wanted to throw my shoes at her. She was somewhat less annoying this week but I hope they don't bring her back. I know that next season the female coaches are Alicia and Kelly Clarkson.

I think Christina had all girls when the teams were whittled down to 5 per team in the live play-offs. But I don't remember her having all girls when the teams were 12 people.

I think I must be the only one watching The Voice this year because I'm talking to myself. Last night's show had the final knockout performances so each coach has 5 members now. Next week on Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday they will whittle down their teams to 3 members. First they will each bring back 1 person who has been eliminated & after all 6 sing they will each eliminate 3 members from their teams. Then the show will go live. We the voting public don't get to participate in this portion as usual. I found a spoiler site with the top 12 singers & I agree with all the picks except 1 so that's pretty good (for me). Of the 12 I think there's about 3 or 4 who may have a shot at a career. Or maybe 1 or 2.

I've been watching. Just not thrilled with anyone this season so I haven't felt the need to comment on them.

They are doing something a little different post season. Apparently, they are setting up some shows to try to showcase the talent after a win, including some previous winners. I know NBC isn't particularly concerned with what happens after the show is over because they don't get sponsorship money, but at least they're trying something. Some of those who've gone the country route are having some commercial success, but there's soooo many people hitting Nashville, it's just a matter of luck.

I'm not feeling this year's contestants. They're all good singers, but the only one who stands out for me is the 16yo rock chick.

I've enjoyed performances each week, but I don't think there's a clear front runner. It's nice, in a way, because it's unpredictable. But it would be nice to have someone really grab everyone's attention. I don't know if I could name more than 2 contestants and I watch a show or two each week.

I agree with the judges choice for Top 12 except for 1 person on Miley's team and 1 person on Adam's team. I actually like Noah Mac, the 18 yr old kid with a refreshing mature voice beyond his years, instead of the typical Justin Bieber/Shawn Mendes type of teen pop voice. He'll get the tween votes if he makes it to the live rounds. He actually lives half an hour away from where I live. Not only does he have a good voice, but he's a good-looking kid, kinda rare. The only other male singer I can think of that looks good and can sing well is Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet. I also think Chloe and Moriah (16yr old rocker chick), and maybe Jon Mero stood out a bit from the rest.

I don't know why they have the comeback artist b/c most of them don't even make the cut.

How Do I Live doesn't seem like it was a good choice for that Hawaiian guy. :yikes:

Results:
JHud -
Moving on: Davon, Shi'Ann, Noah
Going home: Hannah, Lucas, Chris
I thought Shi'Ann was the wrong choice but it was really predictable from JHud. I thought Hannah performed much better. It doesn't really matter, neither of them would have a shot at winning, esp with Noah on their team.

Blake -
Moving on: Red, Chloe, Kesha
Going home: Natalie, Esuro, Mitchell
IMO Kesha was a strange pick over Mitchell whom Blake favored from the start. But I think both Red & Chloe have a real chance of winning.

As much as I dislike Jennifer as a coach, her team is so much stronger than Blake's it's ridiculous. Everyone on her team was at least good -- and the only one on Blake's team I can stand to listen to is Chloe, and she wasn't even his originally.

Davon is an incredible singer but I'm not sure there's a place for him in the music industry. Noah, on the other hand? Kid is a star waiting for the opportunity.

Last night the show was just one hour so it was just Adam's contestants. I was proud of him for choosing the 3 who actually performed the best, rather than the one(s) who have been his sentimental favorites. I think he really wanted to keep coaching Antony but I didn't think he was ready & apparently Adam agreed.

Moving on:
Addison (she was brilliant!), Jon, Adam
Going home:
Whitney, Emily, Adam

I'm looking forward to Miley's team tonight. Right now I want her to choose Brooke, Ashland, & Adam, but it will all depend on how well they do.

I agree, Anthony needs another year or so before he's ready for something like this. Emily was brilliant but she's not right for the show -- I think she would struggle to get votes because she comes across as aloof and remote.

I watched the CMA awards over the weekend. It really all comes down to being in the right place at the right time and having the right songs. Kelsea Ballerini is hot right now in country music. Most of the female singers on the Voice are every bit as good as she is, but she got a hot music video and a good song and she's the current it girl. (Not that I think she'll last long, but who knows). It's really all about luck and finding a good agent to get you to the right places.

I've been watching X Factor UK (on AXS tv in the US) and it's interesting how the mentors approach developing their people. It's clear on the UK show that the mentors are looking for a cash return right away. If the person doesn't look/sound relevant in pop music, they seem to set them up to be voted off quickly. On the Voice, it seems that the mentors are setting people up to be marketable in their own lane be it pop, country, alt-rock or whatever. Emily's obvious lane is stage work, but I don't think Adam could see a way to get her back there as she seemed damned set against going full on Broadway.

Last night's top 12 live was a pretty good show. I only FF'd thru a couple of people. Addison was brilliant, Brooke & Chloe were really good, but I didn't care for Noah's song or his performance. And he's been one of my favorites. Janice closed the show. I can recognize that she's really good but I'm not really into the kind of music she sings.

None of the country people really stood out - Red was competent, Ashland was just ok, Adam messed up the 1st part of his song, & Kesha was really unconvincing as a country singer. She did Midnight Train to Georgia & there was nothing country about it. I hated her version but that may have been because I love Gladys Knight.

So far, I don't like these team performances with the coaches. I'm not a fan of Miley's team's song and she was :yikes: in her style. And Adam's team sounded kind of off. I like the song, but it sounded so low.

I'm DVRing so I can skip thru the fluff. As long as Addison, Chloe and Red get through, I'm good.
