I'm okay with the rhumba itself but the mixed latin rhythm, oy. I skipped the early groups because too much fake perky sexy going on for me.

All I know is that I never want to see another rhumba SD as long as I live. I am hoping I will not outlive the cycle and have to go through it again

I could only watch the last 2 groups, because I couldn't handle the music for that long. Even Leslie Jones was SO SICK of Despacito, she was craving a La Bamba. I was actually thinking someone skating to Bidi Bidi Bom Bom would have been enjoyable. I was so happy that the Shibs skated to Perez Prado. Who'd have thunk skating to something more 'traditional' would be the abnormality!

Glad that the Shibs SD has been such a hit. I bet they knew it would despite it being such a traditional choice. They worked hard on the remixing of the piece to get the pacing and mood just right and I'm glad it worked.

I've been talking up Ice Dance all day on my facebook page cause people are posting about it. One friend is obsessed with Virtue/Moir. Another said her fave was Virtue/Moir and the Shibs and Cappellini and Lanotte. and the third equally likes Papadakis/Cizeron, Virtue/Moir and the Shibs.

Good advice to avoid the hand wringing and just let it be. Let the Shibs skate their hearts and minds out for us and the rest of the world and just enjoy what they deliver.

I'm on the train almost to Gangneung. Our final event to watch. This will be the perfect ending to our journey to Paradise at the Olympics!

They were underscored... they skated so well and I don't know why they are not 2nd.

Shibs aren't second because this is how figure skating is scored, especially in ice dance. It's heavily political. We can just as well ask why G/P are kept so far down, when C/L aren't better than them, and neither are B/S. It's politics. Plus there's so much tremendous depth and talent. The sport IMHO needs to revamp the competitive structure. TPTB are always behind the curve.

Yeah, I'm trying, but not doing very well letting it go. I think I'll have a glass of wine to take the edge off the bitterness. And hopefully toast the Shibs for doing a great free dance.

I'm a bit more optimistic. From the SD to FD: Israel, Italy, France, and Ukraine was lost. But there was no guarantee that Italy, France, and Ukraine (who had the Shibs in third in the SD) would have done the same in the FD. We also don't know how China, Spain, Slovakia, and Poland are going to judge the Shibs. It all depends on how the Shibs skate and if they skate on fire and hit their levels where they don't lose base value (or gain base value) to the bronze medal contenders, then they'll have a great shot.

We have to believe in Maia and Alex. No negative energy!

The Shibs did so well. The judges were being stingy with the PCS but we'll see what happens now. They left nothing on the table. The picky panel called their rotational lift a level 3 but they gained a level 4 footwork and if we can't have both, let's go with the footwork.
