My two fav ladies. :)

CAROLINA KOSTNER: A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
By Hiro Yoshida ©IFS

From the sidelines, Kostner had watched a new generation of young and precocious talents from Russia dominate ladies’ skating the last two seasons, but she believes that she and other veterans such as Mao Asada still have a lot to offer the sport.

“It’s absolutely exciting that there will be two of us, especially since I had the chance to meet Mao outside of competitions — which was fantastic,” Kostner said in reference to the “Ice Legends” show that took place in Geneva in April in which she and Asada performed.

“I discovered that it was a nice moment to not just get to know each other, but to actually exchange experiences. For me, Mao has been absolutely inspiring with her journey and what also happened in her life. I can learn so much from her and I think we can be a good force, a counter-balance maybe to a completely different style, which are the little ladies coming from Russia.”

Will the Finlandia Trophy be livestreamed by the ISU? (I could not even find it on the ISU site.) I will be traveling that weekend but might be able to catch some of it.

Alas, my trip to SA is cancelled. This is not my year to see Mao perform live.

I hope you get to see Mao skate sometime, spun silver.

I really like your new avatar, rosewood. Mao is doing a glamorous pose and her autograph shows she is full of heart and a lovely star. However, it does bring back some bad memories because I was so sleepy, jet lagged and star struck when I met her that I accidentally left her autograph at the skating rink. The good thing is that even though I ran out of power on my video camera, I still remembered to take a photo of Mao with my phone.

Here is a press conference of Mao after Mao's incredible Sochi LP performance:

Here is Mao's comments after her magnificent Madame Butterfly performance with Mirai Nagasu acting as translator.

Mao's adorable early interviews with rather irritating music unfortunately

Too bad about SKAM, Spun Silver! Join my c'est la vie club. ;) As for the live streaming of Finlandia T I'm waiting for a reliable news so far. I'm expecting Russian streaming.

Love to see which Mao remains in people's mind. haha Everyone has everyone's Mao in his/her mind.

_______
Usually Mao participates in a press conference for GP circuit together with other team Japan skaters on the day or the next day of Carnival on Ice (Japan Open's gala). It's supposed to be on Oct 1st this year. Mao may skip the conference this time since Finlandia Trophy is too close (FT starts from Oct 6th).

Thanks to yhma fan for posting these tweets and pictures of skaters who wished Mao happy Birthday. They are all nice, but Adelina's is the most impressive. She wrote such a beautiful birthday wish to Mao. I can really feel how deep her admiration is and how much warmth there is between them as shown in the picture. Adelina knows English really well or was this translated.
