It's crap like this that causes some of us to defend H&M way more than if people could be rational about them. In this case, the organization often honors celebrities who fly including such notable aviation pioneers are Harrison Ford and Angela Jolie. (Yes, really. Those are past honorees.) Organizations do this all the time to bring attention to their group and their cause(s). There is nothing special about what is going on here that some retired military people in the UK need to give quotes to the media.

Ok. Admin has politely requested that we post Meghan and Harry discussion on this thread so I'm posting this message to boost it up to the the first page again. I am in the untenable position of a person who likes all members of the royal family except Andrew. I always watch the royal weddings and other occasions. I don't think any of them are perfect icons and I don't expect them to be.. They are all just people. I think they all deserve privacy when they request it. Kate owes nobody any explanations. Meghan can keep on juggling opportunities to keep her nuclear family solvent.

Now I see while I was trying to think what to write that @Sylvia has postked a link to this thread! That would never have occurred to me. I'm retreating to ancestry.com. I'm better at genealogy.

Harry & Meghan are in Nigeria & on the 1st day Meghan wore a dress that the designer named "Windsor". I've been reading about all the evil motives behind her wearing this dress. It couldn't be (like me) that she actually liked the dress. Or that she didn't read the tag & didn't know it was called that. Or she knew but thought no one would care. No, she was thumbing her nose at the Windsors. Of course.

I don't think H&M have always been correct in handling family dynamics but I think this is a non-story. This hysteria has to stop. All it does is sell copy.

I have a feeling she's one of those women whose mid-sections vary in size a lot (I am another one of those women -- I can go from a flat belly to paunch real quick), so I play it safe and get something slightly baggier around that area.

That it wasn't a super tight fit didn't bother me with this dress. It's bothered me with some others but I thought the way this dress was cut looked rather good on Meghan.

The red dress looks quite pretty when she's sitting down (maybe why she chose it) but it looks odd when she's standing up - possibly because the ruffles are much stiffer than the body of the dress. The contrast doesn't really work IMO.

I like the red one. The peachy-camel-beige one looks like she tore down some curtains and wrapped them around her body. With minimal sewing to make the top.

It's sad.

When I first read that he was getting it, my reaction was the same as a lot of critics. But I keep forgetting that Harry is a military veteran and I think that makes a difference. He served and then he came out and set up a way to continue serving (Invictus Games) and as stupid as he can be with his family, I respect that.

I would be surprised if it turns it down because this has been going on for a couple of weeks and the latest "Harry might turn it down because he is sad" angle is just the last 1-2 days and a quick google search tells me the awards on tomorrow so I will read into that what I like

I don't know Pat Tillman and don't know the criteria for the award but I do think the Invictus Games is the one good thing he has been involved with and means a lot to the athletes/veterans so I won't take that away from him. If they are happy and this Tillman's family is happy then I would think that is all that matters at the end of the day.

But it does make me wonder if the gossip is true about him and Meghan micro-managing their PR team/agents/staff .. because they always seem so spectacularly off with their timing in most of what they do and I would think they could afford quality people to turn this around for them. But it just doesn't seem to be happening for them and one can't keep using the same four year old excuse to explain it away.

The backlash, aside from the usual when it comes to anything Harry or Meghan, doesn't make sense to me, so I just read a few articles and all of them stem from remarks made by Pat Tillman's mother (despite there apparently being others who object, so far I haven't seen anyone actually named). There's a foundation that works with EPSN on choosing the award winner, and several winners of the award have also supported it. So that made me wonder if Mary Tillman has other axes to grind - it's interesting for example that someone who has been a strong advocate for her son's legacy is not involved in the foundation that bears her son's name - it's run by his widow.

Speculation of course, but as usual we're seeing that most of this crap comes back to one source that's then endlessly repeated like it's fact, and that the so-called experts and insiders mostly seem interested in supporting their own brand by keeping their name out there. Not to be totally mean, but in looking into this, I did also discover that the mother published a book about her son, and is currently available for speaking engagements.

Harry and Meghan do a lot of things wrong, but IMO accepting this award isn't one of them.
