ISU World Standings are updated after Euros, so we have our complete last group for the rhythm dance. Sinitsina/Katsalapov will be skating last.
Do we know that RD skate order will definitely be reverse order of world standings? The Olys usually have different rules than GPs.

Removed, just remembered any team changing countries would need to sit out next season.

Team Event: reverse order of WS
"Individual" event: draw still planned

It should be something like this for RD

Group 5 (last)
Sinitsina/Katsalapov
Chock/Bates
Guignard/Fabbri
Gilles/Poirier
Hubbell/Donohue

Group 4
Fear/Gibson
Stepanova/Bukin
Smart/Diaz
Fournier Beaudry/Sorensen
Padadakis/Cizeron

Group 3
Hawayek/Baker
Lajoie/Lagha
+ 3 from "skating earlier" half

Skating earlier
Wang/Liu
Davis/Smolkin
Nazarova/Nikitin
Kazakova/Reviya
Kaliszek/Spodyriev
Muller/Dieck
Taschlerova/Taschler
Garabedian/Proulx Senecal
Turkilla/Versluis
Komatsbuara/Koleto
Ramanauskaite/Kizala (yes, they've some WS points, from the NRW Trophy. So they will be part of the draw instead of being the sure opening)

Free skating is reverse order of RD.

When will we know who the Tech Specialist panel is for the Olympics?? I feel like 4 years ago we already know who those 3 people are well in advance.

According to Italian main sport newspaper, Fusar Poli tested negative today. Not even the virus can resist her death stare.

Yes, last time we "discovered" the officials earlier. I remember to have seen the full list in November/December 2017 when the Turkish Olympic Committe put online the Team Leaders Manual drafted by the organizers in which all officials were listed.
However, I remember also commentators saying "the panel on duty today is the one which will be used for Olympics" during some fall events.

So far, I only know that the referee will be Mika Saarelainen (Finland) because he mentioned it in a recent interview.

I’ve seen the name Dostatni come up a lot in the dance fora, but have never been able to fully grasp from the context what his deal is. Would any kind dance experts be good enough to give me the scoop? I’d be interested to know the reputations of the other officials listed there too, if you’re so inclined. TIA.

Many ice dance fans on FSU consider Mr. Dostatni (and Judy Blumberg) to be among the toughest technical specialists in the field. A skater will not benefit from an unclear edge. If the team earns a level 4 from Mr. Dostatni, they earned it!

Hmm, that's not what immediately comes to mind when I think of Dostatni. I remember him being very favorable to Shpilband teams. But perhaps that has since changed?

That was what came to mind for me too—at least in the past, he was partial to Shpilband’s teams.

I believe the technical panel for the Olympics is Poltorak, Elek, and Higashino. It's not published anywhere; just what I've heard.

Dostatni looked over Belbin's jumped turns for years, but always found a way to scrutinize Delobel & Schoenfelder into Level 1 steps. I don't see him as tough. Like @sap5 and @aka_gerbil , when I think of Dostatni, I think of a caller playing favorites with the teams of his friends.

Though, today, I also think about Dostatni as a coach who doesn't understand what a Combination Spin is, but overall has excellent dance teams in development. I really like what I saw from his Juniors last fall. (Sigh, but Flores & Tsarevski... :wuzrobbed)

Does the tech panel change between the TE and the Ice Dance competitions?

Turkkila/ Versluis can't get a break. They are out of Europeans. Turkilla got ********* at the end of December. PCR tests still shows her positive.
They are back at training though.

Good news - she tested negative on Tuesday.

They called Worlds last year. Seems odd.

Anyway, as I said last year, Elek scores tight, Higashino scores generously; and Poltorak is very experienced & in the middle. If this is really the panel I would once again recommend waiting until after the reviews before freaking out because if the former two are the caller and assistant technical specialist and Elek or Higashino disagree--which seems quite likely--there are still good odds the marks could change upon review.

*I think Morozov & Bagin do not have enough lean when they skate. There is my very unprofessional technical analysis, LOL. (Generally speaking, I take it to mean their edges aren't good; but practically speaking, what I actually see is that they don't lean as far and run as much risk of pushing the limit and falling over as a high-quality dance team).

Ichilov/Byelikov debuted (internationally) at Bavarian Open and already got the minimum TES for Worlds.
Similar debut for Leccardi/Della Torre.

However, it seems even the Zamboni would have received a good score at the Bavarian Open.

Have there been any whispers about what the RD is to be next season? I feel like it's usually after Euros and 4CCs that we start to get an idea of what it may be

Haven't seen this posted anywhere and I know they aren't popular but....

TSL did an interview with Olivia Smart where she talks about everything from her partnership with Diaz, the relationship between Hurtado/Diaz, her thoughts on Zhulin:shuffle:, the Maddie Hubbell Olympic ice show quotes that ruffled a few fan feathers, and even talks a little about Tiffany Zahorski and Olivia's tryout with her former partner. That was interesting for sure

Olivia comes across as incredibly forthcoming and it's a lot less DL and more Olivia just naturally talking about her experiences. Definitely worth a watch IMO

Random comment on Russia's junior nationals:

Kagapol losing to K&C seems pretty unfair to me given how superior K&A's edgework, ice coverage, lifts & transitions are to everyone else's in the junior field. It's true they would have won if they hadn't received a deduction, but the difference should have been bigger to begin with. It will be interesting to see how Kagapol fare at Junior Worlds if they're not being pushed by Rusfed over their teammates; I hope they skate cleanly and the international judges reward them because if Rusfed aren't going to roll out the red carpet for them, they'll have to lay the groundwork themselves by winning a major junior competition.

This is all just my personal opinion/relative assessment, of course.

A few interesting points for those who don't want to watch:
  • Olivia says she has no interest in finding a new partner when Adrian is done, unless Scott Moir calls her up
  • After Euros in Graz in 2020, Adrian told her he might want to do another season after the Olympics
  • They talked about it again this summer and left it at a "not a yes, not a no" for now and will decide later
  • Olivia would love to do another season or two if Adrian wants to
  • Madi and Gabi had a convo about the comments from On Edge and they're all good. Didn't sound like there was a problem at all, sounded like more of a "lots of people/fans are talking about this and are upset, so let's just check in to make sure we're both good" and they were
  • She thinks that part of the reason some of the at home scenes between teams with On Edge seem kind of staged is because there are things they'd normally talk about that they wouldn't want to say on camera so they're maybe holding back a bit. But they really do hang out a lot, especially C/B and FB/S she said are super close. So that part is very real
  • They don't get to watch the episodes before they come out
  • She talked about working with Evgeni Platov with her old partner. Said she found him a bit harsh/scary at first because it was her first time working with a Russian. But that he's really great (she may have called him a sweetheart or something like that) and will still send her congratulatory messages from time to time and stuff

There's more, but that's some of what I remember off the top of my head. Lots of good stuff about picking their programs for this season, the IAM coaches, etc.
