And we have the roster for JGP Courchevel I, the first international junior event in a year and a half.

It is, indeed, the first ISU junior events since 2019 Junior World Championships. However, there have been some junior international events in Ice Dance last season: Minsk Ice Star and Winter Star, Santa Claus Cup, Egna Dance Trophy, LuMi Dance Trophy.
Some of the Courchevel second tier entries were able to compete in front of international judges last season:
Lika BONDAR / Artem KOVAL (134.88 at Winter Star and 126.81 at LuMi Dance Trophy)
Louise BORDET / Thomas GIPOULOU (126.69 at Santa Claus Cup)
Célina FRADJI / Jean-Hans FOURNEAUX (124.50 at Santa Claus Cup)
Katerina MRAZKOVA / Daniel MRAZEK (123.39 in Egna)

Maya BENKIEWICZ / Nicolas HENAULT and Darya GRIMM / Michail SAVITSKIY were Intermediate Novices last season. At Santa Claus Cup, the Germans outskated the French couple by 20 points.

Like M/G in Canada, the Browns are jockeying for the #1 spot in the U.S. - Junior results from the Dallas Cannon Classic, the first major summer ice dance competition earlier this month: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2021/29929/CAT020SEG037.html

Israeli teams Shira Ichilov/Laurent Abecassis and Mariia Nosovitskaya/Mikhail Nosovitskiy went 1-2 in Senior: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2021/29929/CAT021SEG039.html

Anne Calder's report on the competition for IDC was published on July 23:

Their dance field is already incredibly crowded. I don’t think they have any pressing need to hold onto him.
But that doesn’t mean anything? Somehow I doubt the Russian Fed will be altruistic with the reigning world junior champion. They’ll be getting something in return.

Yeah, Kolesnik. I could see the USFS bartering with the Russian Fed, saying "You give us Smirnov and we'll release Kolesnik to whomever you have lined up for him."

Is Kolesnik more beefy than V. Angelopol? Just asking.
If you're suggesting that K/A would spilt for Kolesnik - I doubt they would. Not only did Angelopol choose her after her performances but his uncle is on the coaching staff, plus they are incredibly well matched and seem to get along well. They'd be foolish to give that partnership up.

^^ I think we've already been through those options. Davis is apparently dating Smolkin (right?), and there were rumors of a Morozov/Kolesnik tryout a while ago when Kolesnik was in Moscow, but more recently he has been back in the U.S., trying out/practicing with a different partner.

I was just curious given the shrinking size differential.

The first international senior outing of season for the midnight blues (Lake Placid) resulted in

0 Level 4
1 Level 3 (Pate/Bye)
1 Level 2 (Min/Eaton)
11 Level 1
4 Level Base (Kerry/Dodds, Hertenstein/Binkowski, Harris/Wollomer + Nosovitskaya/Nosovitskaya who fell)

Rettstatt, Fraser-Lukanin and Dostatni were calling.

Some thoughts on the Olympic qualification with a month to go:

I would assume Kazakova/Reviya (if they are healthy) and Turkkila/Versluis are fovourite for top 2 spots.

Garabedian/Proulx-Senecal look in a fine position.

Harris/Chan and Min/Eaton are close, one way or the other. Between them it will go down to the performance (and panel of judges) of the day.
Taschler siblings, Yanovskaya/Lukacs and maybe Fioretti/Moscheni should be in this mix too.

Great Britain (assuming Fear/Waddell are their #2 team now) don't look ready to challenge the above mentioned group.

Anybody else I am forgetting?

like... the points?

There's no good way to decide but that sounds like a particularly strange one.
