In junior dance, Tali/Lafornara are out of Challenge Cup. I expected that, because they have junior worlds next week. But Paolino/Tuba are also out -- no idea what that's about, unless they needed a little more recovery time. Petracchi/Basile and Ventura/Frasca are in.

The panel of the last occasion for Worlds minimums is

Janet Coton (Great Britain) as technical controller.
Marie Louise Gijtenbeek (Netherlands) and Marien de l'Asuncion (France) as technical specialists.
Referee is Christian Baumann of Germany.

Judges are Kliushnikov of Azerbaijan, Volle of France, Hanrahan of Great Britain, Kolecsanszky of Hungary, Mineo of Italy, Prins of Netherlands, Saprykin of Ukraine.
 
The NosoSibs are out of Challenge Cup and have been replaced by the Kazakhs, so we're back to 3 teams seeking the TES mins.
 
No TES mins earned today in the RD at Challenge Cup, so the Worlds field should be set at the 36 teams listed below, barring any injury WDs.

Pucherova/Lysak have mentioned on their IG in the last week that their season is over so it would seem that Simova/Aksenov have been assigned to Worlds. Haven't seen any announcement for the Polish team (best guess Polibina/Golovishnikov).

It will be interesting to see how the TES mins are utilized next year when we have the re-introduction of the Qualifying Rounds at Worlds.

The theme of the rhythm dance isn't really relevant to the quality of the early flights at worlds. What do you remember about the first flight of the rhythm dance from last year's World Championships?

And the best part about figure skating is bad ice dance.

Nothing will stop me from seeing those early round RDs. :lol:
 
I don't think this has been brought up in here yet, but it seems a decision has been made to crack down on the FD choreo step. Seven teams got a ! on it at Egna; today, five teams got it at Challenge Cup. I hope all teams going to Worlds have noticed what's going on and will fix any issues they might have!

Oliver/Bojanowski are leading the ranking so it'll probably be them
 
Well, I'm going to have to say it was a long night for me watching the early dance groups from Euros. I remember getting to group 4 late at night after a work day & thinking maybe it would pick up enough for me to keep watching, but I looked at the list & realized there was no way I was going to make it through even the next 3 teams. I ultimately enjoyed Europeans probably the most of any dance event this season, actually; but I needed sleep. Orihara & Pirinen were ultimately wonderful & would have kept me awake, but they weren't up until 21st! Think about that. They were 18th at their last Europeans in 2020, and there were 23 teams below them at this Euros.

Should be much easier to stay awake at Worlds as I'll be in Montreal. Finally!

I don't think I've ever seen this before but the Cypriots didn't get any points for his twizzle in the free skate. It's not listed as base - it's listed as SyTwW4+SyTwM. He did stumble out of the first twizzle, but completed the second one, and was initially given a level 2.
 
I think it's a sign of how talented Darya and Michail are that, even though this is only their third try, a medal feels overdue! :)
 
I think the Junior Worlds podium this year is a really talented podium, with potential for all 3 teams to make a mark as seniors (whenever they get there).

I hope this means we'll see them competing for a very long time! :D Same for Mouaden/Bigot.
 
I am so excited about the ice dance competition at Worlds, despite not expecting any surprises regarding the top three and top five. The competition just to get into the FD and then the competition for top 10 is going to be so fierce. I wasn't expecting Wang/Liu to return to competition this season and had practically counted them out, but they are on the Worlds team and skated really well at the Chinese National Winter Games. So it's one more team who can be a threat to some of the expected top 20 teams. I also hadn't expected Komatsubara/Koleto to do so well in the second part of the season as they did at 4CC, or for Harris/Chan to improve so much from the beginning of the season. For instance, looking at the FDs, Lim/Quan should be in the top 20, but the RD is their weaker program, so they are definitely in danger of not qualifying for the FD.

As for the top 10, Chock/Bates, Guignard/Fabbri, Gilles/Poirier, Fear/Gibson, Fournier-Beaudry/Sorensen, Lajoie/Lagha, Reed/Ambrulevicius, Lopareva/Brissaud and Turkkila/Versluis, so 9 teams, are all expected to make it, but it's going to be a fight between the Taschlers, Demougeot/Le Mercier, Carreira/Ponomarenko and, as much as I hate to say it, Davis/Smolkin, for that remaining top 10 spot. Also, the competition between those teams and Lopareva/Brissaud and, especially, Turkkila/Versluis who haven't been very stable this season, is so close, that one more or less serious mistake can be all that it takes for that team to fall out of the top 10.

In short, I just can't wait for that competition.
