The Carolina Kostner Thread

Just watched FS again. Need to fix music cut. Ends in the middle of a phrase - half way through a chord progression. Replace with a bit that ends on the tonic, plz. Audience wasn't sure it was over.

Jumps aside, that was utterly brilliant!

I really don't understand, though, where did her jumps go? I understand it is new choreography, but are the entrances so different that it throws her off? Is it trying to hit a musical point with the jump that is different? Size of the rink? Lack of applause (just kidding).

Seems like they're... "keeping them hidden" and will show them in full power for the Olympic Medal. :)
 
I love the beginning of the program. She is even better than she was 6 years ago, so much more precise and delicate in her movements.
The only sad thing is the spiral sequence into steps of the former program that has disappeared here. It's sad because it perfectly matched the music. That new part is full of jumps, not at all with the music.

Also, for the PCS/artistic inclined fans who lament that figure skating is more than just the jumps and do not feel comfortable with a TES/technical heavy or back-loaded program, Caro is right up their alley. If fans truly want the ISU to level the playing field and put a cap on all jumps all the time programs, one need only to look so far in this quad to enjoy that now, and it is to the lovely Carolina! Brava! :encore:

Thanks a lot Carolina !!!! What a pleasure to watch it. The mistakes are nothing compared to the overall quality of her skating, body movements, choreography...
 
She was so beautiful this weekend. The types of skates that make you fall in love with skating all over again, when the rest of the skaters are losing your interest.

She's a ray of light. What a privilege it is to see her compete again this season. She is the standout of the field, and truly a legend
 
Her skating is just sublime. But to have landed no lutzes, no flips, and no 3/3s or 2/3s and only 4 clean triples in total for the whole competition does not bode well for her. And what a shock that that effort can still place 2nd in 2017.

I know she's my homegirl. I LOVESSSS her to Reese's Pieces but her technical portion is subpar.

I wonder then why Ashley doesn't score that way, especially last year.

Well, if they want to throw some PCS to mi ragazza, Carolina, then is fine with me. She is exquisite.
 
Caro was lovely in Finlandia. It is such a priviledge to see her skating live. I don't care if she falls or does doubles, her overall skating and expression is so sublime and sofisticated. I am so happy that she continues skating.
 
Caro is lovely to watch, and I applaud her for not giving up. Her tech is difficult to get back @AxelAnnie. Where the mind and spirit are willing, the body isn't. That's just the way it is. Kudos to her for trying though in this tech-heavy-driven environment. I will find it interesting though to see whether Caro continues to get breaks from the judges due to superb artistry, while that doesn't happen across the board for other skaters.

Too bad Caro didn't get over the hump in Sochi to win OGM. It would have been deserved there. But too much politics in favor of the Russians was going on at those Olympics.

competimg for her means winning. That s why plushenko calls her medal and that s why i write my posts that way.
