Now let’s hope that Amber continues her mental and physical fortitude through US Nationals (no worries there) and into Worlds. Huge pressure for Worlds but she’s ready for it! Sending thoughts of confidence!
I think handling the pressure at the GPF (and qualifying for the GPF) are a good sign of what’s to come, but I agree that home worlds will be a test.

Amber's win was reported in my local newspaper!
Associated Press, right? "Amber Glenn becomes first US woman in 14 years to win figure skating Grand Prix Final" was the original AP article headline from 2 days ago before it was updated with Ilia's win as well.

^^^ Also on YT (8 am interview with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezOybvOU5rY

Her clip with Jonathan Van Ness:

ETA - TODAY Show 3rd hour (after 9:00 am) interview that includes Van Ness' cameo at the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRq7qVmMeAo
Thanks to @ice coverage for clarifying that this was Amber's second Today Show interview:
Third-hour interview starts with questions from Dylan Dreyer, and continues with questions from Al Roker and Craig Melvin.
Ends with Jonathan Van Ness walk-on.
(I think Sheneille Jones did not ask a question.

People article by Rachel Flynn (Dec. 28, 2024):
Her family made it work whether it was “by buying used blades” or “dresses off of eBay,” Glenn tells PEOPLE. “It's an easy thing to put money into, but for us, we didn't really have that."
“There were a lot of sacrifices made growing up from my parents, even from my sister,” Glenn praises of her loved one's support. "I would say my family have been absolutely essential for me, and their sacrifices, I will never be able to repay, but they're so supportive and so proud of me."
Glenn will next return to the rink when she competes at Nationals, which begin Jan. 20.

Wow, knocked out cold? I knew she had a broken orbital bone but unconscious as well? Wow.

And then the year before that she fell unconscious in the cryo- Booth fell through the door, knocked her head on a cubby locker. Wow.

Pre-Nationals media call with Amber (will cross-post in the U.S. Women's news thread in GSD):

@clairecloutier's thread (5 posts): https://x.com/adivinesport/status/1879312639714828577
“Last year’s Nationals, I didn’t know how to be a champion,” said Amber Glenn on a pre-Nationals call with reporters tonight. “I’m starting to get the hang of it.” She’s looking forward to skating & seeing people at Natls. “But Boston is my priority.”
“We have started building back up,” Glenn said of U.S. women. “People are doing it healthier. We’re seeing a resurgence of longer careers.” She pointed out that 3 different U.S. women’s champions will compete in Wichita (would have been 4 before Levito’s withdrawal).
Glenn said she’s “so proud” of Isabeau Levito for prioritizing her long-term health and career over the immediate pressures of Nationals.
“There was an obvious disconnect that was happening,” Glenn said of her past consistency struggles. “A disconnect between my mind and body.” Neuropathy treatment has made a big difference. She feels that 2 past concussions played a significant role in her problems.
Her neuropathy treatment started with a baseline evaluation that included looking at heart rate variability. A session might involve watching a video of her skating, while getting messages onscreen, based on biomarkers such as her current heart rate or breathing.
“It’s not a fix-all. But it’s helped me calm down,” Glenn said of the treatment.

Excerpt:
"I am feeling very excited. This is my ninth senior championships. Here I am going in as the top U.S. lady, which is a position I'm very fortunate to be in."
"Of course, it's [Olympics] in the back of my brain, but there are so many steps before there that are so important, especially Boston (Worlds) & getting the spots for the Olympics..."
"I don't know what things will be like in a year. All I know is that I have a training plan right now for Nationals & Worlds. But the Olympics is something that I know as long as I keep my trajectory, it'll be something that I'm capable of doing and going to."

Big big shout out to Amber Glenn and her fantastic Free skate at the world team trophy. A clean free skate, so amazing. All triples. Beautiful triple axel and kept her focus. The best she’s ever done.

Her technical score was almost 81 points here. I think her PCS should be higher than that, I don’t know what the judges are doing.

What a season for Amber, just amazing!!!!

Congratulations, Amber!
