How depressing for Wagner to lose to someone with only a toe and salchow. Not off to a good start, and I'm not feeling the Polivitzian dance with her either. Maybe start over both SP and LP?

I like it's modern, edgy quality.
The program brings a new dimention to Jeremy's skating.

I think that it's a "keeper".

Thanks, floskate!

I suppose that Ms. Riley considered herself the arbiter of all rules in 1989; and since she is a Technical Specialist/Controller in 2009, she still does.

I do think she made a very good point about placement over marks though, its true. It's just back then it was much more fun to get excited over actual scores than placements.

It's always a treat when you make a new montage, thanks floskate! :)

Here's a montage I just made of clips from the 1989 Europeans where costume skandals ruled supreme!! :drama: Oh and you get to see Surya Bonaly skate figures which is pretty rare.

Regarding her controversial artistic merit mark for Alexandr Fadeev, I love it when the commentator asks Vanessa Riley whether she should be concentrating on the performance. Alexandr is the complete package, so I know I was!:D

One more of Tamara Teglassy, thanks to a kind and generous poster at FSVids.

Tamara Teglassy (HUN) 1987 NHK Trophy LP. I think this is the best I ever saw her skate.

That was a very enjoyable performance.

Her technical marks should have been higher. Her program was far more athletic that Katarina's performance, although it was tough field with Midori, Tonya and Katarina on the podium.

She had a very respectable and long career, and competed against the likes of Katarina Witt, Midori Ito, Tonya Harding, Kristi Yamaguchi, Jill Trenary, Debbie Thomas, and Kira Ivanova.

I hope that Tamara gets to see this very soon ;)

I think one of the reasons her marks weren't higher were because of her lack of jump variety. She does a couple of 2axels, and the rest are double or triple toe loops and salchows. She does not execute a loop, lutz or flip.

Still, it was great to watch and she looked like she was enjoying the performance.

Interview on a Japanese talk show with Rena and John from this past January. I can't understand Japanese but about a minute or so John talks about why he proposed to Rena on the ice. They even have an inset shot of the proposal. I know people are creeped out by John, but he gives a sweet answer. Of course you have to wonder about what Rena is saying. ;) The whole interview is interesting despite not being able to understand half of it!

Thanks so much for posting these! While V&V had some interesting choreography, it seems apparent to me that the fix was in!!!

I especially enjoyed seeing B&T's performance --- very interesting. And I guess that the judges weren't ready to give Barb and Paul the world title this year.

Very interesting videos. Thanks again for posting!
