I was kind of surprised to see the athletes congratulating each other after their events by hugging and shaking hands though. Guess it’s hard to break old habits. They are having indors EC in athletics now in Torun, Poland. The athletes wear masks on the podium, but not while competing. No audience.
The entire Polish 4x400 men’s team has tested positive for YKW and they have withdrawn.![]()
Eva-Lotta!!!!!!!!Imagine if a skater in the top group tested positive after the long program official practice, so all the top group have to withdraw and isolate
That would make for a very surprising podium!
Ah the contaminated meat excuse....

Shelby Houlihan: American middle distance runner blames burrito for positive test
Shelby Houlihan says she has been banned for four years after testing positive for a prohibited substance - which she blames on a burrito.www.bbc.com
Soooo I don't follow or know anything about Track outside of watching the Olympics. I take it by the sarcastic nature that y'all don't believe her?
When I read the article (again I know nothing about Track or drug rules or anything) it seemed legit to me just me reading the one article. So that's not really a thing that can happen and she probably got caught doping? Is that what you are saying?![]()
Nike is her sponsor. And……now Houlihan has been allowed to compete! Here’s the link to the trials start lists and results page.
USATF has tweeted this explanation.
OH….this could get UGLY. And the trials are in Eugene of all places…….

For all intents and purposes, Bowerman is the same as Nike, isn't it?It probably helped more that she’s a part of the Bowerman Track Club.
Can you imagine the crowd’s reaction to her on the track - and the media’s interview with whoever the fastest non qualifier will be in the 1st round/semis and then the 4th place person in the final? I guess we’ll know for sure starting tomorrow night……
She still can’t compete in Tokyo, right? Here’s the press release from the CAS.

I don't think anyone in the state views them as different/separate entities. Certainly not anyone down at UO, lol.
Really? Because it seems par for the course for USTAF to me.I cannot believe the AIU had to WRITE to USTAF to tell them that athletes who have failed doping tests are not allowed to compete.
ETA that U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials coverage is underway from Eugene, Oregon:But the Athlete Integrity Unit, the agency overseeing anti-doping for international track and field, formally notified USATF of Houlihan’s suspension later Thursday. After discussions between AIU and World Athletics, the sport’s global governing body, and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic and USATF and a series of terse statements from AIU, World Athletics, CAS and the World Anti-Doping Agency, Houlihan was withdrawn from the Trials late Thursday.
“The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, together with USATF, can confirm that we will adhere to the WADA Code and any CAS decisions that govern athlete participation in sanctioned events,” USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland said in a statement.
On Instagram Friday, Houlihan wrote, “I want to be clear that, contrary to media reports, I never had any intention of competing if this injunction wasn’t granted. If I was going to race, it was going to be in the right way. [...]
