Thank You Canada Tour - V/M, Chan, D/R, Osmond

Kaetlyn’s Facebook page indicates the first show was sold out so they added a second show. Tickets are still available to the 7:30pm show, so the sold out part might be a bit of a stretch ;) but it looks to be selling very well.

Typically skating events in Newfoundland haven’t had great attendance (think 2005 Skate Canada :slinkaway), but Kaetlyn’s presence totally changes the game.

I hope this tour does well in all markets so that it sticks around and isn’t just a one off thing :)

Not everyone can or will schlep into Vancouver, especially on a school night, or afford the $$$ ticket, parking,is etc. prices and primetime traffic in, and I'm glad they decided not to skip Abbottsford. Cirque was a one-off, and I was sorry to have had to miss it, but it's a lot different than having the skaters you see on TV and have been rooting for for years appear locally and for much more reasonable and family-friendly prices.

I'm not saying the show shouldn't play in Abbotsford. I'm simply pointing out that it is not a small market compared to some of the other tour stops. I would also guess that since the Abbotsford Centre is way underused, the show was likely able to get a fair price to go there.

In comparison to other stops, sure. But having grown up in NYC Metro in a town that was 50 minutes by bus and 22 minutes by car on the weekends to NYC, but where a good number of my classmates had rarely or never been to NYC -- we might as well have been growing up in the middle of the country -- having lived in NYC for many years, where I knew way too many people who rarely got out of their neighborhoods except to work -- the "I don't go north of 14th Street" or "I don't go to the [east/west] side" brags -- and having moved to Seattle to meet people who grew up on the Eastside who had never been across the lake to Seattle until after high school and where people think it's a good thing not having been over the lake in 20 years, abstract market and "metro" definitions don't always mean that much.

Got mine! Section 13, Row B, Seat 8. I wasn't going to miss this! I hope the Sudbury page will let me get tickets to the Meet & Greet.

Had to jump in here and say hi to the Sudbury people- I grew up in Dowling and lived there for 19 years. I'm now in London and will be going to the London show. So glad the tour is going to Sudbury!

I'll be at the London show too.

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir promoted the tour yesterday in Toronto along with Kaetlyn Osmond and Elvis Stojko... here's an article by Lori Ewing: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/f...ott-moir-thankyoucanada-tour-launch-1.4741417
Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are headliners and co-producers of the "Thank You Canada Tour" that opens Oct. 5 in Abbotsford, B.C., and makes 26 stops across Canada.
"It's a nice outlet for us creatively to sort of explore different avenues artistically and with our skating movements, and styles and things," Virtue said. "But it's also nice to have this project because it allows us to focus that energy and fill that void that competition may leave, just so we can channel that into something that we're really passionate about."
Osmond, who along with Virtue and Moir and Stojko, did a whirlwind media tour of Toronto on Tuesday, said it's a way to rekindle some of the magic of Pyeongchang.
"It was such an amazing Olympics, and we built such a great friendship during this time," Osmond said. "Normally we're all gearing up for competitions right now, and instead we're gearing up to do the tour together, and with everything that happened last year, it didn't quite feel like it was done yet, so being able to do this continues it a little bit more."

Exactly a week to the opening show in Abbotsford!

Rosaleen and I will be driving out from the Broadway-City Hall sky train station (there's a Modo car share accessible van there - first time to use it). We have room for passengers, if anyone would like a ride.

Also wondering if anyone would like to meet for an early dinner in Abbotsford before the show, especially as we want to make the drive before rush hour.

I'm going as well - with a couple of friends. For those looking for a dinner spot - there's no restaurant close to the venue any more (other than McDonalds down the road) but lots in Abbotsford to choose from within a 5 - 10 minute drive.
