Thank You Canada Tour - V/M, Chan, D/R, Osmond

Kaetlyn actually said this tour didn’t come about until after she’d already decided to sit out the Grand Prix.

Yes, she said this yesterday in an article posted like 8 hours after my speculative comment :p

Knowing that the tour (at least the idea of it) had been conceived of a while ago, I wonder when she made the decision. I guess it doesn’t matter though!

I think maybe they shoukd talk to Jason Brown before locking in on the confetti idea.

It sticks around, and even if you think you've cleaned it up for the next show, you really haven't.

I recently saw a production of Aida's where they dropped large gold confetti on Amneris and Radames in the big Act II finale. For the rest of the opera, especially the Nile Scene, random bits of gold confetti wafted from the ceiling, like the roof insulation at 2006 Ottawa Nationals.

I'll be at the Kingston, ON show - a friend bought tickets for his wife, daughter and I using the pre-sale code. He couldn't get it to work online but was able to get it done by telephone. An early Christmas gift :D

Presale code CANADA worked this morning - just got an email with pre sale code SKATE. Good luck getting tickets - hope to see some of you at the show in Abbotsford - we're in Section 100.

Abbotsford is the fifth largest city in BC. I appreciate that the tour has a show there, but the definition of "small market" seems to be a little, um, flexible.

The cities they're coming to in Alberta are all over 60,000 people, but rarely/never get skating shows. Especially Red Deer which I think might be due to how close they are to Edmonton. We've had the Holiday or Celebration on Ice tours a couple of times in the past but the last time that happened was probably 2012 or 2013.

Things are relative. 5th large city would never get a SOI.

Abbotsford is close enough to Vancouver that anyone who wants to see SOI can drive in to see it there. And the Cirque du Soleil skating show just played at the same arena. It's really not as skating deprived as the PR for the show is suggesting :)

Not everyone can or will schlep into Vancouver, especially on a school night, or afford the $$$ ticket, parking,is etc. prices and primetime traffic in, and I'm glad they decided not to skip Abbottsford. Cirque was a one-off, and I was sorry to have had to miss it, but it's a lot different than having the skaters you see on TV and have been rooting for for years appear locally and for much more reasonable and family-friendly prices.
