Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir #48: Long Time Running

Am I misunderstanding something? Virtue and Moir hated the Pink Floyd program? I’ve always heard the opposite and how they loved experimenting with different shapes. In fact, that’s why they asked Jennifer Swan to choreograph other programs years later. Any hate would be associated with the surgery and poor communication between them at that time.

(Sorry, I can’t tell what IDC is and I even googled to find the interview.)
Sorry darling. Here it is. I thought the exact same as you re Jennifer Swan, which I why I found this comment interesting.

Zach’s comment is offhand/vague enough that we don’t know why they “hated” it, but my first guess was always the injuries/poor communication/time period that plagued it.

Thanks ! Is it possible the interview is edited and “they” refers to judges?

There was an article I read recently where Tessa mentioned the programs she recommends people who don’t know them well should watch to get a sense of their style. I can’t remember where I read it though.

Hmmmmm......but they medaled at Worlds that year so I don't think the Judges hated it.....I am really not sure. Anyway, no matter. But of course, anything is possible, lol.

Tessa & Scott will be inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in December :)

The inclusion of Olympic favourites Virtue and Moir might come as a surprise, acknowledged walk of fame head Jeffrey Latimer, because they’re still active in their skating careers.

“Many times the walk of fame has celebrated the success of great sports figures and Olympians after (they)… have retired,” he noted.

But Latimer said he believed it’s important to induct sports figures “when they are on top of the world.”

Quick question, what would you guys say is the best version of their Carmen FD? I'm asking because I was thinking about creating a poll about ice dance-specific Carmen programs.

I would say Worlds, or the version they performed on SOI.

Nationals. Even with the straightline lift issue, I feel that it was by far their best performance for the program. The only video of it still up is on dailymotion.

Honestly, the Skate Canada practice videos. Step sequences on fire. Of the few missed opportunities in their career, not ever getting Carmen completely down might be the biggest one for me.

I agree that Nationals is the best in competition (even with the lift issue and the weird Level 1 on the spin)

Same here. I still look out for new information about them on tumblr and twitter and really look forward to photos and videos from their party in Ilderton tomorrow. Hopefully the fans who will go will keep us up to date.
I think it's incredible how professional and big this party turned out to be.

They are and will always be my favorites.

LFP Article about their "Thank you Ilderton" event CBC article
What a great party it was. I loved seeing all the videos, photos and reports of the lucky people who could attend. Scott must be really proud of what his family accomplished. It must have been an enormous amount of work to prepare such a big event. Ilderton is lucky to have Scott and Tessa and they are lucky to have the support of this town. How I wish I could have attended this party.
And another reason to make us prould vm fans. I mean, I don't think it's normal for athletes to throw their community a "Thank you party". They are the GOATS, definitely. :D

Edit: Another article about their special bond Virtue and Moir say thank you to Ilderton in their world-class way
I love the quotes about the Moir and Virtue bond:
All this started with a two-person bond.
Then, it quickly extended to family.
“How lucky are we that everyone adored one another and we just cherish that time together?” Virtue said. “We have such support from the Moirs. They’re my family, too.”
Over those years, most Virtue and Moir vacation time centered around ice dance competitions. Later, it became Olympic trips.
You get the sense those visits will continue.
Virtue’s mom Kate has a cottage on Lake Huron. Just recently on the way home to London, she stopped by Ilderton and popped in to visit the Moirs for a chat.
“As lucky as Tessa was to find Scott, our family was equally lucky to find the Moirs,” Kate said. “I wouldn’t change one thing that happened. We have such a fabulous relationship with them and, of course, they have such an extended family.
“It’s an extension of the community. We don’t live in Ilderton but we feel so welcome here.”
And this is just so Scott:
Early in the planning stages, someone mentioned to Moir he might consider charging a nominal five-buck entry fee per person. He wouldn’t hear any of it, and they gave away nearly 8,000 tickets for free.
“I love this community . . . this is ours, we’re here all the time and we always like to tell people it takes a village,” he said. “It’s true in our case both from London (Virtue’s nearby home) and Ilderton. We wanted to throw an event that gives people a chance to come out and have some fun.”

Yes, who did something like this for there town, invite 8000 people and bring music Star to made great show?
We heard so many times TS even better people, then skaters and this is truth. And Tessa so many times talked about how generous is Scott. ☺️
You are absolutely correct. Wonderful that they acknowledge that their success is because of all the people who have helped them over the years from their early days and the time they had to do fundraising for training and costumes. They are two very special people who make me proud to be Canadian.

Video of Tessa and Scott saying "Thank You, Ilderton".
Video of Tessa and Scott "dancing".
Video of Tessa and Scott closing the party. And Scott made Tessa laugh again.
This twitter user has almost all of the pictures of the event.

Now, that they were back in the public eye for a second, I have been on a short "Virtue/Moir high" and miss them already again. However, I still hope for a short trip to central Europe in winter, so that I can see them live *keeps praying". If not, then :wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed.

Yep, they are training at Gadbois. Scott will help them for the next two weeks and maybe in the future as well. They talk about his help in this video (starting at about 3:00 and about their first meeting at about 8:00).

I love the part where he talks about how excited he is to work with Scott because he looks up to him! Their impact on younger skaters is always my favorite thing and I’m so excited to see how it turns out.

For any Toronto area posters who didn't already know this, the Thank You Canada tour has added two shows in Mississauga (3 PM and 7:30 PM) on October 28th. Now I am glad I was hemming and hawing on getting tix to the Oshawa show - I will go to one of these (...or both? ;) ) instead.

From her Instagram, it seems Virtue is currently vacationing in Provence. After Tara Lipinsky and Merryl Davis did the same not long ago 😎
