Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir, #46 : Until the End of Time

If the third set is one of their additional features, and the disruption would have caused a first or second twizzle to lose a level, than the third twizzle should not be counted as a feature thus causing them to lose a level.
It's what's written in the books.

Anyway, congratulations to Tessa&Scott, especially for getting the maximum points in the No-touch. I think it's asolutely incredible. And deserved. Also, everything level 4 (you don't have to worry about this tech panel... on the other hand other skaters should because some calls were odd, but not for V/M)
They did fell slightly more tensed here to be honest than in SCI, but that happens. On to the FD !!

I really don't need you to assure anything. It's getting annoying. And if you wanna cite the rulebook, plz do it in specific detail, because we have been covering that. And I still think they should get the feature.

-_-
Check it on the ISU rulebook

To my eyes it's three rotation. And the commentator on my stream counted three out loud and went on saying it shouldn't affect the level.

This:

is the start of the third rotation and he stumbles in the middle of it. Notice how Tessa finishes the rotation with her back to the camera. That's because that twizzle set starts with them facing towards the other end of the rink, so Scott stumbled before he could finish the rotation. Even if you think the actual twizzle started half a rotation prior with them facing toward the camera, Scott's exit still wasn't clean as he tripped on the exit.

Did you guys see Phil Hersh's article?

I keep wondering if V/M saw it before their skate, cause that crap was released and designed just to mess with them.

The twizzle would've been a L4, if not for the stumble. Every other element was called as a L4 (with a panel that isn't exactly "friendly"). That just means all they need to do is skate the program clean - which we already know they're capable of - and they'll get a huge score. So, who cares?

NHK means nothing in the whole scheme of things. Unless V/M pull out before tomorrow, they are going to GPF and that's when it will actually matter if Scott screws up the twizzles or not.

Right now all I care about is getting to watch them skate their FD tomorrow, because MR is slowly becoming a favourite of mine. The amount it grew from ACI to SCI was incredible, so I can only imagine what we could potentially see them put down on the ice tomorrow, not only technically but emotionally. I'm super excited. Go V/M! :)

Like V/M themselves, I think many of their fans are perfectionists, too. We are so hard on them sometimes. I realize NHK doesn't matter that much. So let's enjoy their performances more.

The timing was definitely... interesting.

This tweet basically sums up my thoughts: https://twitter.com/jm_thayer/status/929047093934739456

Giving gifts to judges shouldn't happen but with the ridiculous amount of conflict of interest in the skating world, this is super minor. Somehow having the head of Skate Canada judging at this comp is fine, having someone very close to P/C be on the technical panel is fine - but this is a scandal? Of course changing those things would mean overhauling the entire way skating is run, and has been for ages. So instead Hersh plays gotcha games to perpetuate the politics of it all.

Yeah. I noticed people tagging V/M in their conversations too. I was hoping they wouldn't see it until after they were off the ice, but I doubt that happened.

IMO, SC should have seen the optics here. But as that tweet noted, Didier Gailhaguet is the president of the FFSG, so excuse me if I roll my eyes at this supposed 'scandal'.

Oh, and those weren't gifted from SC just to the judges, to the Staff, Volunteers, and Athletes as well.

I think they shouldn't worry about that stumble too much. Because the short dance was executed perfectly. It was a stunning performance. I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end for the very first time. I wasn't happy with the music choices/editing especially, but this time it all came together. They were perfect! Plus, maybe it's a good thing the mistake came now. They'll learn from it. And always better at NHK than at the Olympics. ;)

Just a note. Guys, please stop arguing. Just because Tessa and Scott make a mistake, and we know it happens rarely, it doesn't mean they fall from the top spot. Everyone knows their quality. They're living legends who have inspired so many people in and outside the business. And as this seems to be their last season, why spend it by arguing/discussing trifles when we should be enjoying them and the perfection they take on the ice with them.

Disgusting Phil Hersh article on V/M .low even for him what a reach. How much did Didier pay him to write such stupid nonsense ?http://www.globetrottingbyphilipher...anada-ice-dance-olympics-judging-tessa-virtue
You see, the best thing is not to pay attention to such articles/comments/rumours etc. One doesn't have to go far; only seeing profiles of the top ice dancers is sometimes a testament to his/her patience. And sadly, reacting or getting angry doesn't help, it won't stop it. If I may give a piece of advice; ignore all of it and focus on the positive aspects. :)

On another note, I found a picture from FD's practise at NHK. Is she wearing a green dress now or am I blind? If so, how many of them does Tessa have...

I think it was inappropriate for Skate Canada to have given the judges this as gifts but overall I think a 200.00 pair of earrings would not be swaying judge’s opinions. I doubt it effects Virtue and Moir’s moods going into this competition.

The earrings weren't $200 though. The earrings actually sell for something in the $50-$60 range. Essentially, Phil's argument is that Skate Canada is trying to influence judges with mid-priced costume jewelry.

The earrings were not from Tessa's line. They were given to, it sounds like, everyone who participated in someway in the event--volunteers, competitors, etc. H&B is headquartered in Regina. They sponsor a figure skater, so it seems like their being involved in the event is sort of an obvious thing for them to do.

You know, years ago, no one seemed to have the slightest problem with the boards at US Nationals being wallpapered in the logos of the companies sponsoring Michelle Kwan. More present day, Coca-Cola is sponsoring Nathan Chen. Will it be a conflict of interest if a judge drinks a can of coke?

My suspicion is any other skaters from any other country, and it would be a non-issue.
