i would be actually surprised if they're allowed a second oly gold.
they won once already, the second time it was US turn, next will be France's.
levels, bobbles, performance in the day etc etc...dont matter.the real issue is 'geo-political'. Gailauget wants the gold for France. he even twitted about it.
in ice dance is much easier to pretend one team is better than it really is. just hand out record scores. only a few know something about ice dance. judges and feds are free to make their deals.
i'll just keep adoring VM, but since i'm fed up by the score situation and the nonsense i see on boards this will be my last post on fsu. much love to you :) marty

I feel your frustration but am glad you won't give up on V&M. as for FSU. I did that for 2 years but have chosen to ignore the unpleasant people on this board. We will miss you.

I just want to know why there's an inflation of scores already. What's going to happen by February if the scores are maxed out?

Anyway I think we should wait till GPF at least before we start freaking out. Tessa and Scott knew what they were getting into when they decided to come back so we have to trust them. For me in the SD there really should be no contest IMO. For the FD it will come down to which team can hit their levels. I was going to say something else, but I think I shouldn't so I'm not accused of being a hater lol.

We are always accused of something, LOL.

Yeah well I guess I can't blame the posters that have decided to leave then. I'm actually a PC fan, but I can't help seeing a double standard or people even being hypocritical when it comes to them. For years VM were accused of skating the same thing even though they weren't. And PC have decided to stay in the same style for 4 years now, but it's all of a sudden ok because it's art. I just find it hard to swallow after all the hate VM have taken over the years.

Well the British Eurosport commentators said that V&M are in a league of their own & they can't see these programs being beat so not sure what the judges are trying to prove at Cup of China..probably when they are together in a comp we will see V&M seperate themselves from P&C..

Not that it is worth anything, but you might want to hear what the Eurosport commentators said about Papadakis/Cizeron today. They seem to have changed their minds.

I don't see how VM being criticized for doing the same style (which I don't think they did for what it's worth) is the reason they lost in Sochi. And PC ARE being criticized for doing it too (even if again, it's irrelevant). It's an endless and senselss circle tbh...

Totally agree this will be my last post as well at least until after the Olympics, I'll see what I want to do then! I have been thinking about it for a while now. i just want justice, and nice words exchanged. I will say may the best during the Olympics win! I LOVE Tessa and Scott and WILL always support them! This decision is also one I've made to set up some priorities in my life. It has been nice to chat with you guys! Blessings!

I understand you guys. If the Shibs decide retire after olympics, probably I am done with figure skating. I already tolerated enough injustices towards Mao. Being a fan of this sport is fooling yourself. I do not know how skaters can stay motivated with this situation.

hi! I've never written here but today I really have something to say. I just want you to know that I'm a former pair and single skater and I'm still in touch with lot of people in the figure skating world. All the ice dancers I know thinks VM should be in first and the Shibs in second (I'm italian and I know italian skaters so no nationalistic bias). I can add that all the people (coaches, athletes) know very well how much politics are important in the game. I hope skate canada knows what to do but is really frustrating to see this kind of judging, for VM but more so for other teams who are not even allowed to take part in the medal competition outside of the bronze. Today I'm so angry and also so sad for this sport. here's hoping that VM can win the gold and after they retire the shibs can have their chance of getting the top spot they deserve. good luck guys! don't loose hope :)

O, good luck! Wish you all the best!
I hope you, guys, want to stop posting not because PC ubers had attacted this thread?
British Eurosport commentators were really good this time, especially compare to allezfred, who disn't know nothing about FS :)
They talked about VM are best in SD. Today they talked about FD and really prized PC. So they showed respect to both teams.
I think VM really need support now, didn't you think so? Esp if the Sochi situation will happened again.
They are doing everything they could, traning hard, try to be good people after all. Then VM couldn't to do nothing with judjing system, preference, politicks.
So if Didier twitt could influence on PC score, so why SC still not post some scandalius message? :))))))))) Joke. Hope nothing could help DG to repeat what he did at 2002 OG.
Good luck TS next weekend! Wish them stay healthy and clean skating!

I honestly don't know if judging will go for or against V&M come February, but I can at least live with them losing to P&C. The teams at least have fantastic skills. Sochi was just such a piss-off, losing to a team I don't think was of the same calibre and being saddled with such shit programs.

I do think P&C's FD score makes me again wish V&M had gone in a different direction. But it's too late now.

I really needed this. Thanks for posting it.

;)
And BTW, there were nine countries on that pannel. Yet it always is the french's fault.

I do think P&C's FD score makes me again wish V&M had gone in a different direction. But it's too late now.

I don't care for their FD but I don't think a different program or a different style would have changed the scores. And really the difference is almost entirely due to levels + V/M's mistake.

I do think skating at the same competition as P/C benefits V/M, especially if they skate back to back. What is worrisome is that V/M will most likely not be in the final group for the Olympic SD, while P/C, with a win at Euros, will be.

Anyway to lighten the mood in here V/M still have the highest SD score and were only 0.57 behind P/C in overall total score at their respective GP events. That can pretty much be explained in the GOE for that CiSt and that double twizzle of Tessa. PCS does not favour either team at this stage, they are tied.

This is going to be a rollercoaster but it doesn't have to be Sochi (and it isn't imo ). Just enjoy the ride but if it's easier to enjoy away from figure skating boards then it might be the best way for one to enjoy it and not let the it ruin their final season for you. With all that was going on in their heads during Sochi and after their showing in the team event they still went out there and skated their best performances to date of both their programs in the individual event. They can do this, you just have to stay calm, enjoy their last season and leave the rest up to them. :)

I think the start order for the first 10 teams in the ISU rankings is decided by draw...? If I'm not mistaken.

I am with pani. "Come what may" ... I am going to enjoy this season and cheer my heart out. In reading between the lines with what Tracy Wilson said, I have come to believe they returned to competitive skating because they were not fulfilled with the way things went leading up to Sochi. I think the silver medal mattered less than the whole experience and this time they are truly skating to a short dance and free dance that they both absolutely love. I concur - they are both amazing programs and - unique and different - and I love them.

It will be a fight to the finish! Bring it on I say.

What’s the time difference in Korea? That was the rare but awesome thing about Vancouver I could watch it live with only a 3 hour time difference.

Well the gold is very important to them but yes they are in a different place in their heads. Very happy and confident.

oh for fracks sakes, anyone who does not see the quality of P&C skating skills has blinders on because even though I think their FD is a big snoozefest, their skating ability is amongst the best ever. I can be honest and say that it is a preference thing.

Virtue and Moir are my favourite skaters but they need to earn the gold... it isn't theirs on a silver platter.

Frankly, I hope both teams skate balls out and may the best team win.

Sorry but BOTH are deserving

I'm just happy that my two favourite teams will be going head to head. Both are exquisite and talented, so I'll be satisfied with a win from whomever brings it more. All I hope is fair judging prevails with none of the sketchiness that was seen in Sochi. So let's just breathe and soak in the beauty of ice dance:)

I would put Virtue/Moir as one of the best ever though too.

It’s early in the season .. where is the Grand Prix this year?

Actually, no, they haven't. Mark Hanratty wasn't doing commentary at SC, so he couldn't have changed his mind since no one has heard his opinion about anything in specific at Skate Canada. The only direct comparison he made was that he said after watching SC, he was convinced that VM would be a lock for the OG, but now he was questioning that - which means that he thinks it will be a competition, not that PC > VM. The other commentator (Chris? Nicky? I can never tell who out of those two is the second commentator), who did do SC commentary, said many good things about PC but never said he would put them above VM or anything directly comparative. So as usual, @allezfred is just hearing things the way he wants to hear them.
