Team Russia Test Skates: Junior (Aug. 1-9) and Senior (Sept. 7-8)

They have started uploading HD videos on Channel 1.

ETA: they are making some vids private? LOL
With that said, I wonder who gets moved out of their events? I think Kunitsa and Vetlugin from the reviews :shuffle:

ETA: Okay, they are unblocking the vids. LOL

WTF is this music cut to 'Gangsta's Paradise' for Mozalev? :wall: @alchemy void might love this damn much, but what the hell is this? First part is stunning, the final with 'In this shirt fits his style, but what the hell is that in between? Otherwise I would have loved!

Unsurprisingly, I actually thought the transition from Gangsta's Paradise techo remix into To Build a Home was really quite well done!

Disappointed by the ladies FS (after yesterdays SP)
Nothing outstanding for me.
All Tut skaters totally rushed with overloaded choreo.

Sounds like he kept his FP from last year. Somehow you missed that 🤭

You're right, again. Damn.
Well, to my excuse. Last season I was busy ubering Savosin and Murashov in their last junior season, so 🤷‍♂️

Valieva, Sinitsina, and Kanysheva all look very ready for the season. Sinitsina had the most interesting program to me. Valieva was technically spectacular but she left me cold. The Eteri camp is in desperate need for outside choreography - the programs overall were totally :blah:

I thought that despite the fall, Usacheva looked very good as well. I’d be surprised if she’s not working on a 3A given how big her 2A is.

Tarakanova was totally disappointing - she used to be so passionate but this was totally flat. She needs more flair for a Latin program.

Sad my new fave Kromykh had a disappointing skate. Even sadder that she is skating to Ghost. :shuffle: Still she did better than Frolova, who I thought was the weakest skater here, and Vasilieva, who had a poor SP and didn’t do the FS.i hope she can still get a JGP.

If Eteri's camp and Gleikh were judges on "body of work" as choreographers, in a show/event dedicated to "their choreography", it would be reasonable to judge them on "repeating", "using some of the same elements for all skaters" and whatever "sameness" they are accused of in music, style or moves.

But it is the skaters that are judged as "individuals", on a given season, for given programme, on the day they skate, against other skaters. The skaters are not judges by "an element or music" another skater "last season" was given by "the same coach". If the music and an element works for this skater - then it is about the skater and his/her performance at the time of performance.

What I’m saying is that Daniil’s choreography is lazy and uninspired and his skaters deserve better, frankly. I’m not a judge; it’s just my opinion.

I have to agree. While I respect the insane level of content and conditioning the Tutberidze skaters have, these programs are really starting to look identical, devoid of personality, same mediocre choreography, and a glut of (difficult) but meaningless transitions. It's all very cookie-cutter, which I suppose is a symptom of Eteri's empire growing so much over the past few years.

Valieva is like a mashup of every Eteri skater the past 4 years, without any identity at all. For me, it's just waaaaay too much. YMMV, of course. Having said that, I do like what Tutberidze has done with Kostornaia and Kanysheva, who already had established some sort of vision with their previous coaches.

Anyways, I still love Kromykh. And I love Ghost, so this is a win-win. ;) We even got a 3Lo pogosplat, just like Pogo used to do. I'm with @oleada and hoping she can get a JGP spot!

Sinitsina was awesome. She didn't make much of an impression on me last year, but this is a cool program and well-suited for her. Inspired music choice! Nice 3Lz3Lo in the bonus, too.

Kanysheva was pleasant, but I didn't like it as much as the SP.

I totally admire Tarakanova for just powering through Frida, stone-faced, with minimal attention to the music. I actually think this has decent potential--the music is well-matched to her power, but she's going to have to perform at some point. Someone DM her Liashenko's 2004 Euros LP immediately!

Pogo is exactly who she reminded me of!!!! A more balletic one, however.

No, of course, it is a matter of opinion. I just don't see how it can always be considered so bad and "insert a point of critique" for this or that, if pretty much all his students keep on either winning or getting medals in practically every competition for the last 2-3 year, with "that choreography". Which to me means that his choreography is at least good enough for these skaters to win or to medal. It's not about "him as an artist" but "what works for the skaters"... and that's my opinion, of course.

It's like an interior designer who works for clients, on their demand. It's not what a designer can do as a "designer" but how well he satisfies the "clients", and how the clients are happy when their friends come to visit and say "what a beautiful house you have".

Khromykh reminds me more of Tsurskaya in her first season (with worse jumps because Tsurskaya’s jumps were huge, but in the skating style and presentation).

A combination of Pogorilaya and Tsurskaya? Oh boy, heartbreak ahead . . .

Overall:
Russian junior pairs scene is insane :respec:
I personally miss the typical classic russian team now with all these modern approach programs, but well, there is hope for the FS.
So many good guys, they really stand out (especially in non-top teams)

Panfilova/Rylov I am surprised I like most of it; the music switch for the steps I disliked (of course) and think the end did not suit them at all. The rest I liked. Her 2a looked solid, loved the lift entrance and position and I just can't help: Rylov is a rockstar. Loved him from the first moment I saw.

Kostiukovich/Ialin no big fan of the program but you can't help loving them. So unique, so good.

Akhantieva/Kolesov, happy they kept their Interstellar SP, I really enjoyed that one. Like the new costumes. I have a soft spot for them, hope they make junior worlds this season.

Pepeleva/Pleshkov are ready to jump in when one of the Top3 falters. Good job. Loved his 'don't give a **** about my shirt gone' attitude.

Could not agree more with @Ka3sha: Totally loved Vislobokova/Brukhanov; never heard of them iirc; it's like Fedichkina is back in pairs now. Awesome.

Loved Nazarychev. Who is he? Never heard of him. Unfortunately she seems pretty :blah: to me. Who are their coaches?

Artemieva and Mukhortova in the same event, well, those were the days :drama::rofl:
