Tarasova/Morozov Cheer Thread

I think they may just be trying too hard. I want them to take up meditation or something like that.

I think T/M are one of the most resilient teams currently competing. They went through so much, both on and off the ice but still managed to improve and seem to have an amazingly strong love and support between them. I never once saw them give up during a skate. They do fall apart sometimes after an error happens but they never look like they checked out of the program like so many other skaters look like when they make errors.
They've seen their personal relationship fall apart, they were basically dumped publicly by a coach who badmouthed them in the press, they competed with tons of injuries but they always show up, always.
I wasn't rooting for them to win an Olympic medal back in 2018 but I still remember the devastation on Evgenia's face in the K&C after they finished their FS and realized they won't win an Olympic medal. The fact that they came back after that kind of devastation is enough to show their resilience in my eyes.

They just need a coach or a sports psychologist. Meditation can be done after they retire. :)

I do agree that they try too hard and put too much pressure on themselves.

I have been convinced of this since nationals last year and watching Evgenia’s reaction to that. I think they just want it too much.

I think everyone who reads and regularly posts in this thread knows my thoughts on how Mozer negatively impacted them (Evgenia) mentally.

T/M simply lack the nerves. They fall apart under pressure unfortunately. They will make excellent show skaters. I love their Ordinary People John Legend gala especially but they crumble under competition stress and this is why Moser just couldn't continue to support them. Nothing against them it's just in their DNA. One can only hope they'll make the team to Beijing.

The best thing that happened to them was that Mozer left them high and dry. Good things happened to them only after they were away from Mozer. It Could be a part of their confidence/self esteem issues. Evgenia in particular was kind of mentally dependent on Mozer. When Mozer dumped them, it must have really hurt.

I wanted them to go to Tamara since day one. She is a real psychologist/coach.

I am comparing T/M to other talented skaters. Loads of talent but just can't pull it off to realize their potential.

May be this belongs in a separate thread. So there will be another thread.

Here is a thought.

Are they spending too much time practicing the SP and not enough on the LP?

I disagree that Mozer dumped them because they couldn't handle pressure. She somehow preferred S/K who had major injury problems and Z/E who were not that great or that consistent either. T/M were like step children.

T/M were not falling apart when they were with Mozer. I saw them at the worlds in Boston. They were one of the few pairs that skated two clean programs. V/T, S/M, S/K all had errors.

In 2018 they were winning competitions but couldn't handle the Olympic pressure and their personal relationship issues at the time.

At the 2019 worlds they skated a clean SP and a nearly clean LP (one mistake on sbs jumps by Vladimir,I think, but not a fall). They were happy with their performances. Then Sui Han skated even better and T/M had to settle for a silver.

After that successful performance Mozer dumped them. It made no sense at all. T/M persisted and went to Marina Zoueva, thousands of miles away from their home. Then they had to handle sickness, injury, lack of training facilities. That is a lot to overcome.

They have handled so much! They don't have nerves of steel, like e.g. Anna Shcherbakova or Sui Han, but these two deserve respect. They are lacking in confidence and I don't know if they will ever get it back. :(

I don't think that's quite it. They did a clean LP and poor SP at Cranberry.

It's sad she didn't realize what a gem she had. I will forever be convinced she deliberately gave them worse programs for the Olympics to prop up S&K (whom I also liked and who were also ruined by Mozer). And you're right, T&M used to be pretty consistent. At 2019 Worlds I thought they'd won for sure until S&H skated clean. Similar to 2003 when I thought T&M 1.0 had it until S&Z skated.

Deleted post.

ETA- Finally watched their LP, after Dobre posted how to get around the pop ups and ads (use full screen).

They are so beautiful! So much detail, sophistication in their skating! I just love watching them stroke around the ice, their beautiful extensions and postures! The lifts are exquisite. I think they have made the ending smoother than at Cranberry. They even received a good response by the audience at the end, but they looked very unhappy- understandably.

I had a feeling that Zhenya was rushing every tech move just a bit. Nervousness? For anyone else it could have been just having a bad day, but with every mistake they seem to lose confidence and carry that memory into the next competition. Other than the two major errors they skated well. Much better than the test skate. They should have received high marks for skating skills.

Sadly they have built a reputation for not delivering the tech content, so the judges will mark them low even if they do deliver it.

It is best to not expect anything in terms of results. It is hard though because they have so many great qualities. I am afraid that at SA they are going to blow the SP because they have been skating it well.

Tamara used to do something to relax her skaters before a major competition, like a snowmobiling experience (actually that didn't go too well, LOL) before B&S's Olympics In SLC. Her hypnosis of her skaters is well known. May be they ought to hire a hypnotist? Can a Sports psychologist help them unload whatever stuff they are carrying? Eteri's magic does not seem to be working. What about changing the costumes after two poor performances?

I am grasping at straws.

After watching Karen Chen's skate to Lady Caliph, I wondered who could skate to this gem of music that was used by B&S in 2002? I would love to see T/M's interpretation of it - hopefully as eligible. Idont want them to retire yet.

I found this video of their LP practice. It is 27 minutes long.

I like it that there is a supporting team around them, that works on the details.

Their gala at the 2018 Russian nationals, which they won.
music - Ordinary People by John Legend.

I had never seen this program from their 2019 European gala (silver medal). I don't know the music.

Not a good outing for them today, I felt like it was mostly nerves but I hoped they put these types of messy skates behind them. I hope they'll regroup in time for the GP season and maybe do another event before SA.
She really looked dejected while bowing etc. I always remember Scott Hamilton saying "Dont sell the mistakes". Yes it wasn't what you hoped it would be and you are dejected.....after you leave the kiss and cry....not when you are bowing at center ice and acknowledging the fans who came to see you.

I watched their Claire de lune SP again today, after a long time. Even though I love it, I think they made the right decision in moving to the more dramatic WE (statue/artist) SP.

I haven’t seen any indication they’re planning on doing another RC event. They don’t need to, and I imagine at this point, the focus is now on the GP events.

I see Pepeleva Pleshkov will be there too, and at SA. I am looking forward to seeing both pairs.
