Wow! Congrats to both of them.

Their students have won so many OGMs! I counted six.

Olympic silver medals and World titles - too many to count.

OGM- Urmanov, Plushenko (Mishin)
V&V, M&D, K&D, B&S (Moskvina)

Did I miss anyone?

I agree:)

Fabolous occasion to celebrate, those two are both legends. Funny Moskvina became a pairs coach and Mishin a singles coach. One pair that's not mentioned that much regarding Moskvina is Ina/Zimmerman. Of course they never win a big title, but she really did a good job with them, culminating in two clean programs on home Olympic ice 2002. Especially the LP was spectacular. Highlight after highlight in creative choreo. They both energized and loved every second of that performance. (And of course also a bronze medal at worlds the same year, though they didn't skate so well there).

I watched it once and wondered 'where are the throws?', then rewatched and found one 'sort of' throw that would not be a throw by today's standards.

The program is dated, but even so, M/M are a legendary team and their skills would be distinctive today.

And their unison, what a thing of beauty that you don't see much anymore. :(

Mishin gave him the jumps, Tarasova gave him the polish.
:) Majorov and Mishin gave him the jumps. Yagudin says in his book, that he jumped all the triples bar axel, when Majorov (who was his first coach) decided to move to Sweden and brought Yagudin to Mishin.

In his book Yagudin also says, that Tarasova decided he shouldn't enter a jump at a fast speed. He says his jumps became consistent, when he had managed to change his speed.

I would give Mishin Yag's OGM as well.
Well, Mishin gave himself Yagudin's medal - saying, that two his students medaled at those Olympics.

Yagudin... :) also thinks he got his Olympic medal thanks to Mishin in some degree, because Mishin kept saying bad things about him and Tarasova, - by doing so Mishin made him work hard. :)

I don't know if they were planning on continuing or not but I feel like their career got derailed by the drug test controversy (is there any definite story or is it still all muddled?). It's a shame because it really looked like they were ready to take their skating to the next level. 2002 was their most successful season and unfortunately their last. I don't think any US team has done as well as them since.

Either way congrats to both Moskvina and Mishin! I'm sure its hasn't always been smooth sailing but 50 years is amazing. I envy them for being able to do something they love so much for so long :encore:

I admire both of them. Moskvina and Mishin are so smart intelligent persons. Mishin has a great sense of humour!! on very special way..

It would seem Artur Gachinski will be there too. He posted some clips of him practicing his Roxanne program with a caption that implied it (if the auto translate worked properly)....

There is an interview from 2016, with Tamara Moskvina (in Russian), where she tells two interesting facts, not widely known today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7j-7RrPoPs
- She was a 5-time Russian National Champion in Ladies Singles. At the time she was married already, and she and her husband decided that Ladies Singles require too much time and commitment, so she transferred to Pairs. Her summation is "I transferred from Singles to Pairs for sake of family".

- In the interview she tells the story of "biellmann spin". In late 1950's/early 60's, she was watching gymnastics, saw this element, decided to try on the ice, and included it in the programme. Later she heard Bielmann's coach saying "yes, we're doing what that Russian girls did...".

There is a 50 minute long (older) documentary about Moskvina, in Russian, but it has a lot of interesting vintage footage, which does not need translation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Sq602eMSAw

... and i have to post this, it is so cool she can still do that...

You mean the Platinum!!! :D
Yes, according to his wife( she said one gold and one silver is platinum) his fans made that big campaign for him and started to repeat the "platinum medal" everywhere. Plush had nothing to do with the platinum ( he didn't even know when the journalists asked about it ). One of the administartors of his official site ( if you would read that site know those admins are amateurs, fans ) put the platinum medal's pic the front page and the scandal was ready. The American media liked it. It is a well-known story if anybody wanted to know the tuth could hear it. But that was much more better story "Plushenko awarded himself a platinum medal"! "But he is only a jumper" "The quad is not everything"! ' He lacks of artistry"! etc.. Did you remember?
I'm just saying...

It was a prank by a crazy fan, who photoshoped a picture with 3 medals - Silver SLC, Gold Turin, Platinum Vancouver, and posted it on Plushenko's fan page. It was officially disputed by Plushenko and his agent.
The crazy fan got the idea to make such a picture, because Yana, Plush's wife, said in some interview "so much work and pain went into preparations for Vancouver, that any medal is worth its weight in platinum to us".
