SYTYCD Summer 2017

Part of the issues with the dances comes from spending too much time catering to the egos of the judges by showing their reactions!
I haven't liked anything Les Twins have done.
They have great energy but I've seen way better dancers in their style.
Fikshun is a way better dancer, even though I don't think we saw him at his best.

There is something powerful about Les Twins, due to their height and looks, when they move together in unison or sudden contrast, but I think Fikshun is both more precise and more nuanced. He just didn't use the versatility he learned on SYTYCD for this competition. Too busy juggling shows? Not sure when these were taped.

I agree the Final should be Eva Igo, Kinjaz, and Keone/Mari.

I love love love the blue haired girl. Kaylee something. I hope Cyrus picks her ^^
I must have watched Kaylee's audition 10 times. I'm worried, though. The all star comments weren't all that and most preferred Havoc.

I guess I'm going against the grain here but I like WOD and detest SYTYCD this season.
WOD:
A little too much of the judge's reactions but that's tv for you. I really love the different dances. Glad that Eva Igo made it through. I've really liked Kinjas all along but agree that they were not as strong last night. I love Swing Latino but find that I don't know where to look as there is so much going on. I wish they do some fast and slow, highlighting some dancers rather than fast, fast, fast. I think Keone and Mari got hosed. I do love Les Twins but I think they're getting a pass based on rep and I think JLo wants them to win.
SYTYCD:
I've watched twice and hate the format. The All-Stars do not have what it takes to be hosting. They have a few stock comments, repeated over and over. The dance is not anywhere near WOD and the AllStars seem to favour 3 or 4 poses along with some tears and "vulnerability". Best part was Sonya! Make her a judge! I did like the 2 dances done for each one of one pros' 2 finalists. That rang true.

I too agree re Keone/Mari - that was amazing. They :wuzrobbed: I do love that Les Twins worked around the injury, but that was not the most interesting wheelchair or businessman/homeless piece I have ever seen.
Kinjas' piece was too quiet -- gotta bring the bang to the finals like Swing Latino and Eva did.
I just got around to watching SYTYCD, and I am very disappointed in the talent level and format. IMO, there are only a couple of standouts, and I'd prefer less Academy and more performances (Top 20). I like seeing the contestants paired up together and I like some partner switching. I'd like Sonja to judge, but not if it means we don't see her choreography.

Wasn't happy with anyone in the finals in WOD except Eva.
Keone and Mari were way better despite my sympathy for Les Twins injury and the way they made a negative into a positive.
But they barely moved their feet.
I know the injury etc, but the other guy could have moved his feet.
There was hella of a lot of posing and not much dance.
Kinjaz surprised me in picking such a subtle piece for the division finals.
Their precision is much better then Swing Latina. I find the elegance and line missing from the Swing Latina dancers especially the women a lot.

But they brought out all the stops. And in a sense deserved their win over Kinjaz in this dance.

But overall Kinjaz is a stronger team.

It's very obvious though that Jennifer's choices are what's going to win.

She is a producer I believe.

I think it will be Les Twins unfortunately.

I had managed to forget that SYTYCD was on this summer, so have only seen last Monday's episode. I completely agree with you @Rob about the talent level (I was underwhelmed by quite a few) and the format. In fact, I hate the format! I will watch again next week, but not sure whether it will hold my interest enough to continue. At least I can rewatch some of my favorite dancers, pairings, and numbers from earlier seasons.

It seems that Kaylee and Cyrus must have kicked Nigel's puppy. Kaylee gets a craptacular, ill fitting costume, bad lighting, then tepid comments. Geez, Nigel, it's week one.

The fact that this was the only comment indicates that interest is low for the season. While totally understandable, that makes me sad.

I don't like the new stage. The camera work seemed off. The reveals became annoying by the third couple.

I think having each contestant dance only with one all-star all season defeats the purpose of all-stars. The all-star is supposed to uplift the dancing of the contestant. I don't want to see Cyrus and Comfort struggle through a waltz. I wasn't going to pass judgment until I saw the first show, but it robs the show of the vibrancy of mixing and matching couples, constantly having fresh energy and having an all-star help fine tune a contestant in an unfamiliar style.

The crappy comments would make Kaylee the frontrunner to go home first, but other people also showed weaknesses. Comfort's partner getting bleeped did him no favors.

Lastly, who styled Mary? Her dress and hair were horrible.

I thought the comments for Kaylee were fair and on point to be honest.

Her lines weren't very good.
And her legs and feet were very sloppy.

I actually agreed with Vanessa saying she needs more breath and air in her movement. She danced very heavy. Which surprised me based on her audition.

When comparing her dancing to Koine or Robert's partner, Taylor, the difference in skills is glaring.
But yeah the dress for Kaylee and the choreography weren't the best.

I didn't love all the dances.
But that was mostly based on choreography or music choices.

I think the talent level is fine, average I guess.

I think they went with a top ten and all stars to hopefully increase ratings.

I didn't watch Monday's SYTYCD until last night... how surprising (not) that every all-star chose an opposite-sex contestant as their partner. And nearly every one chose a contestant in their own genre.

Logan moves like a combination of a cat and a snake; I could only imagine what that piece would have looked like with Alison instead of Audrey. And OMG, Lex in that tap piece with Gaby?

Can't say I was surprised, but I was disappointed. I hoped someone might step outside their comfort zone.

That said, Logan and Lex were outstanding.

I guess this show has fallen off the FSU radar.

I thought the elimination was fair. The dancing was good. The camera work was much better than last week.

I still think Kaylee and Kiki should have been in the bottom.

For sure, one or the other. Not really surprised that Robert and Sydney were there, but stunned about Logan. I did not see a big redemption from Kiki this week. He was okay. Kaylee was much better this week, but I didn't love her. My guess is Sydney is next to go.

Yeah. Agreed
I was shocked and baffled by Logan.
I'm guessing Sydney too is next.
Kaylee was much better this week. I think she is getting the alternative vote.
I liked Robert. Was a bit surprised he was in the bottom.

With the fixed pairings, some people are bound to vote for their favorite All Star and not the contestant. Unfortunately for Robert, Jasmine isn't one of the ones likely to have a rabid fan following.

You might be right
He was heavily featured in the lead up to top 10, and has a very vibrant personality. I would have picked him as a favourite.
Kiki is probably getting a lot of the ballroom votes because he's well known there.
I doubt it's from Jenna. She was in the bottom three 4 times in her season, despite the fact I don't think she deserved to be.

With Allison not dancing last week, I don't think Audrey pulled in too many votes for Logan.

How much crosses over between DWTS and SYTYCD fanbase-wise? Because Val has posted on Instagram to get his fans to vote for them. That might possibly earn her a little more time.
