Stupid NOC or Skating federation decisions?

It's crazy to think that certain countries National Olympic Committees (NOC) or skating federations decline to send athletes to the Olympics. The Monods of Switzerland come to mind. They earned 2 pair spots for the 1994 Olympics by finishing 9th at 1993 Worlds; yet Switzerland decided to send no one after they finished 11th at 1994 Europeans. How demoralizing for athletes to work so hard, in most cases self funding their training for years before getting any assistance from their federation, to then be denied a spot that was earned for the country.

Any other decisions that come to mind that are just plain dumb?

This was the biggest asshole move...Sweden should thank it's lucky stars that the Marjorov family still skates for them. I would have told them to go **** themselves personally.
Swedish NOC is well known for such decision in smaller sports, you have no shot at medal, we won't send you, it does not matter that you qualified fair and square. I still remember the outrage in gymnastics world when they refused to send Veronica Wagner to her second Olympics in 2008. :wall:
