Skate to Milano OWG Qualifier - Beijing CHN - Men's SP & FS

Seriously, between Brain or Pitot/Economides I'd rather see Economides at the Olympics

Hope springs up for Davide still. Yes, Li is next in line, however Fedir Kulish may not get Latvian citizenship and if that's the case then Davide would get his spot.
IIRC citizenship is still questionable for Davide too.

Battle of the Brians - Battle of the Carmen - now we have Battle of the Eleanor Rigby's to make the Olympics. This performance was all over the place.

The :cat: and I came downstairs (without an alarm) in time to catch the end of Marsak's skate and watch the rest of the last group of Men.

Oh boy... Donovan is struggling with his two opening quads; gets it back under control with a decent 3a. Ooof, 3z+3t has a rough landing. Really hot & cold with these jumping passes. His SP lead is going to be what keeps him in the top 5, I think, unless the TES drops on review because of jump rotations - which has happened to him in the past.

It was a good thing the short program was so good, because it will probably save him from this rough free skate. Just couldn't loosen up to get the jumps into the air.

137.39 = 8th Place

Not quite the quality of the short program, but more than enough technical content today.

Not perfect for Gumennik, but he's showing he's aiming for the Olympic podium.

I think he's a really interesting skater. Even when he was a young kid.

Well, a skate like that will definitely put him in the medal discussion for Milano. Not for gold - even without the mistakes, it wouldn't be enough to match Malinin, though he may challenge Kagiyama, Shaidorov & Siao Him Fa at their best.

Lutz is not Gumennik’s friend today but with his base value it wasn’t going to go any other way.

Having the AIN athletes here is such BS appeasing Putin’s pals at the IOC, but I do enjoy Gumennik’s skating. Just a really well rounded competitor.

Doesn't Gumennik have a 4T with all the other quads? Or was it supposed to be a 3lz3loop combination?
