Sign of a wrong winner- the 3rd place ordinals

A real sign someone was robbed is when the winner gets 3rd place ordinals and the runner up does not. Examples.

Usova & Zhulin vs Gritschuk & Platov 1994 Olympics- Gritschuk & Platov had 3 3rd place ordinals behind bronze medalists Torvill & Dean. Usova & Zhulin had only 1st and 2nd place ordinals.

Kerrigan vs Baiul- Baiul had 2 3rd place ordinals behind bronze medalist Lu Chen. Kerrigan had only 1st and 2nd place ordinals.

Witt vs Manley- Witt had 3rd place ordinals. Manley had none.

Watch for that when you want to see a sign the runner up was screwed and which controversial or close decisions that applies to.

What's interesting is that there are now sources like skatingscores that can show you the theoretical ordinals a judge gives the skaters after adding up all their GOEs and PCS into a total segment score.

Let's just say Pyeongchang will likely be a crazy exercise in IJS national/block bias...and the Skatingscores server will probably crash.

There is probably an app for that. I wonder if judges use it to score their skaters.

I dont know about all cases of 3rd place ordinals but the Lillehammer results were definitely wrong and the 3rd place ordinals are probably just one sign of that.

That was probably the worst judged Olympics ever as every decision was the wrong one. Miskutienok & Dmitriev should have won and not Gordeeva & Grinkov. Shishkova & Naumov deserved atleast the bronze, they were screwed too. Stojko should have won over Urmanov, and Candelero possibly should have been over Urmanov too. Usova & Zhulin and Torvill & Dean both should have won over Gritschuk & Platov, this was the start of Gritschuk & Platov being the unwarranted judges pets for years. And Kerrigan should have won over Baiul, Chen should have even probably won the silver over Baiul as well.
