Sofia Samo for sure.

It's the pressure of making the Olympic team that made aliona and Sasha go back to TT I don't think either would have done it if it wasn't the Olympic season coming up.

I don't know what happens to plushie now I guess he will just develop some of the kids he has there and try to maybe bring in a top male in Russia. Plushie losing aliona was not that devastating but losing Sasha is.
If he were to do that a swift kick to the rear end wouldn't be far behind.

Twice bitten, third time should be very shy.

Hmm, this is hard news to process. I don't like when all the top skaters are at one coach, but Trusova doesn't need to live her life for me! :). I just thought even though it was wrong for Kostornaya, the Plush thing was providing a little balance when it came to Trusova. It's going to be crazy to have so many Olympic candidates in one place. There is literally not room for all of them on the team.

 given there are only three spots for the Olympics, there isn't room on the team for all of them regardless of who their coach is or which rink they train.

Now who amongst will make the top 3 for olympics amongst Valieva, Trusova , Shcherbakova, Trusova.
It will be a nail biter and maybe we'll see an upset.

Also will the two stepsisters make a surprise ?

Honestly, I don't think this is a good move for Trusova. There were good reasons she left Team Eteri a year ago and none of those have really changed. She still doesn't have a 3A and her skating is still pretty empty without the quads. Those criticisms and the struggles she had with landing all the quads she needed to beat Aliona or Anna were valid reasons to get out of Sambo-70 and going back there? Meh. I wish the US gov't hadn't put the kibosh on visas for Russian citizens because she'd be better off if her meddling parents let her relocate to Irvine to work with Raf full-time and in-person.

As far as I can tell, and please do NOT take this as authoritative in any way, it's not that Russian citizens can't get visas, they just aren't going to be issued at the US Embassy in Moscow, that's all. So it makes it more complicated, but they can still get them. But hopefully one of the Russian posters can confirm whether my understanding of that is accurate.

Well, I doubt Raf would take her on for just the coming Olympic season but I do think he would be a better option than returning to Team Eteri, if she was interested in coming over to the US (which she might not be).

I don't like it either but I am afraid that Sasha had to make a choice - go to ET and have a decent chance to go to the Olympics, or Stay with Plushy and lose political power in a very competitive field.

I hope Plushy can develop some young skaters over the years and establishes himself as a successful coach. It would have been nice if both Sasha and Alena had done better than they did while being in Plush's group. It was not to be. A move back to ET gives both of them a better chance of making the Olympic team.

Right now at least it seems having ET as the coach matters a lot, in terms of performance And politics. Both are important. The young ladies really have only one chance -2022. More talent will keep coming.

At least we have Liza. I hope she gets one of the three spots next year.

Hubby & I in Moscow now...and what news about Trusova. All family & friends happy. Trusova did exactly what’s best for her future.
Pascha - Christos Voscres!
What are you doing in Moscow? Have fun.

Sasha return to TT in my opinion because she and her parents realize she has a better chance to make the Russian Olympic team skating TT than PA. Unless Sasha wins Olympic gold or world's gold 2 months after the Olympics I think she bolts TT again after the Olympic season.

Ive been following Tuk for some time, people use to criticize her weight,
hope shes ok, now her weight drastically looks the extreme opposite or maybe just photoshop ?

Major Photoshop. Liza is healthy and pretty thick for a lady's figure skater.

I haven’t seen this mentioned, but if Trusova and her parents had agreed to train with Plushenko for just this past year and now the time had come to renew/renegotiate the agreement, maybe Plushenko was asking her to commit to his training team for a longer term than she/her parents felt comfortable committing to. (All that contract business he brought up after Kostornaia left him comes to mind.) Whereas, maybe Eteri’s school was happy to coach Trusova for the Olympic season and see what happens after that. Trusova may still want the flexibility of shopping around for the best coaching situation. If she wins the Olympics or even medals, her stock would be pretty high and another top coach besides Eteri (Plushenko is famous, but not yet for coaching success) may be happy to work with her post-Olympics. She may still be looking to play the long game, aiming to be part of more than one Olympic team. She said this year she wanted to skate until she’s 22. She might not have wanted to commit on a longer term basis to as untested a coach as Plushenko and lose perhaps a future opportunity to transfer to a coach like Mishin or Arutynyan. Or even to stay with Eteri, if that works well for her.

Remind me, how old is Trusova now?

No, but being on Tutberidze’s team increases the chance (even if only for the inflated PCS), so it does make sense that Trusova switched back. Her PCS suddenly decreased this season, even though she skated better overall this season than the last.

Hence the switch. But what if she doesn't make the team?

Disappointed, don't like this at all! She really improved this season with Plushenko. Better jump teqnic better presentation. I wonder if she would have switched if she'd won at Worlds.
Of course not. Didn't win world because her SP where she should score made to upper seventies God her mid sixties and cost her any chance of the gold. Sashes father and I blame Plushie for that. Anna peek at nationals in late December and she was eminently beatable at worlds. Plus I should have designed a 3 quad free skate and the score in the mid to upper seventies in the short program and she would have probably won world gold at 16. But instead they wanted to make a big splash with a 5 quad program like Nathan Chen.

Of course to be fair sasha is handicapped by not being able to do a quad in the SP. Anna too for that matter.

Sasha did make some strides this year which makes her switch back to TT all the more surprising. But then again I don't think there's any question that alyona going back to TT and getting her 3A back motivated Sashs to come back to because she knows her best chance to make the Olympic team is with the greatest coach in the world whose skaters are rumored to receive the Eteri bonus. ;)

Had Sasha skated clean in the SP she would’ve won Worlds. It’s not like she didn’t improve with Plushenko. This might not be a move in her best interest. Seems there were valid reasons she was unhappy with Eteri in the first place and will that all magically disappear now?
All the best to Trusova. I hope she beats the odds and gets her Olympic gold.

I was hoping she would stay with Angels of Plushenko. Plushenko made some rookie/noob decisions in program composition with her, in my opinion. However, I felt as a OGM, OSM, multi euro and world titles he could provide her with some tools she can't get from Eteri.

She was making improvements in skating skills, speed and control of jumps. She just missing consistency. Her skating for the upcoming season is going to be less quality than before. I see her regressing actually. I am sad about it too. I don't see this ending well for her.

I agree the reasons Trusova left Eteri will await her. Who knows if it's her parents(rumors) or the Russian Fed. Honestly, I don't see Trusova making the olympic team now. I think this will inspire Anna S.

Right now, the Russian olympic team will be Anna S, Kamila, Liza/Daria. In my opinion.

Trusova is as or now, has the same chance of making the Olympics as Kostornaia
although a lot can happen in 9 months.

and c'mon lower than La Tuk and Stepsister 1 ?
