Actually, genetics dictates that some genes are not expressed in favor of others. That's the way diversity works. Dominate genes are expressed. Recessive are not unless there are two recessive copies of the particular gene. Therefore, it is not unlikely that traits from a particular ancestor are lost in successive generations. Or the recessive gene is carried along. It depends on the gene and happenstance.
The choreographer Frederick Ashton was a great favorite of the late Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth's mother. He used to tell the story about how one day, there was a new or temporary manservant who brought them tea, and when she learned it was undoctored tea, reportedly said, "Will one of you old queens get this old Queen some real tea?"Perhaps the Queen had to have a tipple after posing with Trump
Love Kate's hat, hate her dress. Maxima is maximum Max, love her (check out her earrings! they are apparently two of the diamonds that usually top one of her biggest tiaras). Sophie is disappointing, she usually stuns at Ascot but today's outfit is meh. Light blue was definitely the colour of the day, with HM the Queen, Kate, Zara, and Beatrice all matching and Eugenie wearing a slightly darker shade. Hard to find good photos without resorting to the Daily Mail (they do always have amazing photos, but such a nasty tone so much of the time).
That link gave me a list of articles but no Royal Ascot pics. I'm therefore going to link to the Daily Mail - whose royal coverage is a lot less biased that the Daily Express and who do fabulous pics:
I also liked Anne's dress. Eugenie's was alright but her hat didn't go with it at all. Are bows at the throat coming back into style? Nooooooo!![]()

There are some yellow pleats in the skirt of the dress that match the colour of the hat. I like the yellow and blue - just would like some sleeves or a jacket of some sort.
Why isn't Meghan there? I know she is on Maternity leave, but she is only a stone's throw from Ascot. Way to fabulous an event to miss.

It is a scene from Ascot Opening Day in My Fair Lady. There is even a song that describes it perfectly. The song is Ascot Gavote. It is where Eliza makes her entrance as an English Lady. If you watch the vid of the song you will see how it captures what we saw in pictures. The Ascot event is a royal tradition I kind of don't get. None of them ever really look like they;re enjoying themselves and it honestly seems exactly like that scene in My Fair Lady where ladies in huge hats are making "small talk" with each other. Only Zara and Anne are into horse racing and horses. The others aren't at all. William in particular looked really bored.
With that being said I liked Kate's blue dress with the exception of the big pussy bow. It just was one more layer of fuss in a dress that already had a lot going on.
What was up with all the baby blue colored dresses?
Not a fan of Kate's dress. And the shape of her hat reminds me of these sweets that you get in Germanyhttps://www.pitopia.de/scripts/pictures/detail.php?pid=872546

I missed the yellow pleats. She did have a yellow umbrella though as well as nips front & center.
