Royalty Thread #8.....A Pregnant Pause

I thought Carol was a female version of Carl, not Charles. If it is maybe they will use it for a middle name. Carol doesn't sound very traditional to me.

I've never seen any shaming of Charles as a father. All the shaming I've seen was for his adultery. But I do think he deserves the honor of his name being used by M&H for the way he has welcomed Meghan & her mother & I think he was a pretty involved father after Diana's death. I like a lot of the names suggested here but I don't really care what they choose.
In what universe is adultry NOT connected to bad parenting? Lying, cheating, sneaking..to say nothing of the time taken from your children....oh all signs of being a great parent.

Way too little and way too late.

I think that Meghan and Harry better do the Lindo Wing and the traditional photos leaving. Anything else will throw fuel on the fire of the ridiculous "she's not really pregnant" narrative. I'm not a Meghan fan and I think that is absurd.

Wait what? I've read a whole bunch of royal conspiracy theories (the latest being the "tiara" feud between Kate and Meghan) but haven't heard of the "Meghan's not really pregnant" theory. I have read some online discussions that are saying that they baby will look "African" and thus the royal family won't accept the baby ... But as I said, royal gossipmongers.

Google 'Meghan Fake Pregnancy' - you will be unpleasantly surprised at how much garbage there is out there regarding this totally made up theory!! Apparently Meghan has been wearing a moon bump that slips and has had plastic surgery to fool us all into believing she is pregnant . I kid you not.

I'm waiting for one of the nutters to post in regards to Meghan apparently not using the Queens gynaecologists - who brought all 3 of William and Kate's children into the world - supposedly referring to them as 'the men in suits'. Instead she is apparently bringing in her own private delivery team headed by a woman which I'm sure will just add more fuel to the fake pregnancy rumour with the nutters saying she can't fool the royal doctors but can bribe others to fake her delivery .

Honestly the poor woman can't win - and the stalking of Harry and Meghan trying to make a private visit to a shop and having pictures taken which Harry was clearly not happy about - as he is trying to cover the camera lenses - tells me he will probably follow his brother and sister-in-laws example and keep his child well and truly under wraps and away from prying eyes.

It is everywhere on royal social media. It goes basically like this: Meghan is too old to have got pregnant so quickly so clearly she is using a surrogate and faking the pregnancy. Proof is first her age, because no one over 25 or so can get pregnant ever (except Kate apparently as many of these people are hoping she has a fourth baby) and in an extension of the conspiracy: claims that she is actually over 40 and lying about her age (there is nothing to substantiate that at all). Other proof includes the vague due date--late April/early May instead of an exact date being given to the press. Never mind that the vague due date has been given for all of Kate's pregnancies as well and that if they had a surrogate, there is absolutely no reason they would not know her due date. Further proof involves the varying appearance of her belly which is a bit odd, to be honest. I'm inclined to think she has padded it or used shaping undergarments at times because it has indeed appeared smaller on days after it appeared bigger-- perhaps a maternity band of some kind for whatever reason at some times. Other ridiculous proof is that her hands and ankles do/have not appeared swollen ("My hands were swollen for an entire year when I had my babies, no way she's pregnant" says Conspiracy Karen on Instagram), her face is not round enough, her belly is too big or too small for the pregnancy stage she is/was at, she shouldn't be able to walk that fast, squat, move in this or that direction ("My balance was so bad that I couldn't turn around without assistance for my 14 pregnancies, she's not really pregnant!" writes Pregnancy Plot Peggy on Yahoo) and on and on and on.......In the racist variation, the surrogate is white and only Harry's sperm was used, not Meghan's egg (and that goes with the age thing--because in some people's minds, a woman can't have viable eggs at 37) so the baby will be white.

It's gross. It's body shaming. It's pregnancy shaming. It's age shaming. It's fertility shaming.

Pointing out that keeping that kind of a secret in the age of social media and 24 hour news would be absolutely impossible given the number of people that would have to be in on the secret doesn't help. Pointing out that there is no shame in fertility assistance doesn't help. A friend had IVF for her first pregnancy and was very protective of that information. I didn't get it. Now I do. Apparently, some people still attach a stigma to fertility assistance of any kind. So pointing out that surrogacy is increasingly common and more famous people have been open about it in recent years doesn't deter them. The rumors of a home birth or smaller hospital and no photo call are feeding it even more.

Anyway...given how widespread that idea is on royal watching social media accounts (there are entire Twitter accounts dedicated to it and a couple of IG accounts pretty committed to it as well), and comment sections all over the web (you can find commenters advocating it at Yahoo, the Express, Daily Mail, etc....), I really think it would not be wise of them to have some sort of home birth and just release baby photos later. Go to Lindo, pose on the steps to shut it down. Some will never give it up, but some will be shut down. And if they can't shut it down a bit, it will follow their poor child forever.

Well she is not using them...so?

Did you actually read my post? I said that nutters out there would use it to gun for her and then I said the poor woman couldn't win. I personally would use the best people for the job and I don't see how the Queens appointed doctors can be bested - but that's me. If she choses to use her own team then so be it.

They are already on that. I think that rumor is a bit stupid anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it reported that Kate's babies were delivered by a midwife with the Queen's OB/GYN on call at the Lindo Wing in case of complications. And I believe I read at the time that that is a delivery option for uncomplicated pregnancies in the UK. Having them on call doesn't mean they are in the room and why not have such high level doctors on call in case of complications?

Sorry. I misunderstood.

Uh ... wow. Thanks for catching me up. I don't know why people think Meghan's ovaries are dried up. She's 37. She might have taken some fertility drugs to speed up pregnancy but I know many women who had late-30's-early-40's pregnancies and they were all honeymoon babies.

As for the bump changing sizes there are a number of maternity girdles around that can help women fit into more form fitting dresses.

But the Lindo wing photo op ... I've actually read on some royal forums how much that would "break decorum" because the child is not in line for the throne, and even some conspiracy nonsense that harry has to ask for William's approval? (Same thing is circulating with this supposed tiara feud.) And then there have been some Daily Mail commenters who have talked about heckling the mother and baby with racial slurs if they do the Lindo photo op. So ... not sure that's a good idea either.

Anne (the first to birth in a hospital) had the photo op with both babies as did Sarah and Andrew. These people...

My college roommate has seven children. Two sets of twins, three singletons, and also miscarried one at 12 weeks. They were all born after she was 33 and the last when she was 43. No fertility treatments. Another friend had IVF for her first pregnancy after a couple of years of trying but conceived her second child naturally. Both born after she was 35. My father-in-law was born shortly after his mother turned 46 in a time when there were no fertility treatments. The last is certainly uncommon, but it's not impossible.

I also know a young woman (aged 29) who had to have IVF treatments because she had two ectopic pregnancies in a row. And this woman is not famous. Yet she was appalled at the rude comments she got when she talked about IVF treatments. She said her aunt even said "well then that's not really your child." I have no idea why people think they're entitled to make vile comments about IVF and fertility treatments.

But anyway, this whole thing is really silly. I unfortunately did some googling and there are an amazing amount of YT videos with supposed "proof" that Meghan is not pregnant. For whatever reason they're fixated on her legs not being swollen. Not everyones' legs swell when pregnant. If anything I noticed that Meghan's face swelled more as she advanced in pregnancy.

They've been fixated on the swelling thing since the announcement. Swelling early in pregnancy is not a good sign. Another friend of mine had severe swelling by the end of her first trimester. Her OB insisted it was just a normal pregnancy symptom and ignored it. Within 36 hours of the birth, she was in a coma with eclampsia. She nearly died. Had the OB not dismissed it as normal, it could have been appropriately dealt with earlier. I shared that on one royal site, pointing out that swelling at the time of the announcement would actually be a very bad sign for her and the baby and was informed that all pregnant women have severe swelling immediately.

My friend with two sets of twins carried them both to term, had four babies over six pounds each in those two pregnancies and never swelled at all in her hands, feet or face. She did with only one of the six pregnancies she carried to term.

I can't. I just ran across a YT video with 100% proof that Meghan is in fact a man pretending to be a woman. They call her "man-gan" and they have "100% proof" that shes in fact a he.

I've seen that, too. I'm not impressed with Meghan, quite frankly. She has rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning and I feel like she really, really loves the cameras which may not be good for the BRF in the long term. But this stuff is beyond ridiculous. It is so prevalent, though, that I was kicked out of a royals following FB group for disputing some of it.

It is ridiculous the fixation on swelling. Swelling is not necessarily a sign of pregnancy. Swelling is often a sign of poor circulation and general health. I have a friend who everyone was convinced was 'so cute' pregnant because she was gaining so much weight and swelling all over. They thought that she looked like what a pregnant woman should look like. In fact she had diabetes and didn't know about it and had an excruciating pregnancy.

I suppose this is beyond pointing out but Kate didn't swell much in any of her pregnancies either?

Social media is so ugly sometimes. To think that anyone would be bored, stupid, and hateful enough to post such crap about Meghan (or anyone, for that matter) is just :angryfire:rolleyes::scream:.

I've been wondering for a while if Meghan may ultimately regret marrying into the royal family. Her life is probably a lot more stressful now and less fun than when she was an actress on a TV show. Even if she enjoys attention, she can't possibly enjoy being the center of mean, crazy online conspiracies, not to mention all the negative press from the tabloids. :(

I think it depends. An adulterer can be a man who visits a prostitute once in a while for a half an hour on the sly, or a man who spends most of his time away from his family with his mistress.

In saying 'man', I acknowledge that women can be adulterers also. But I do think it far more common of a practice among men.

In fact, in some cultures it is a common practice and even expected. That would be the case for Greece and Japan - or was, if the practice is becoming less common now. In both of those cultures the tradition is/was for the men to have affairs, but remain married and be responsible to support the family financially.

I have no idea whether Charles' affair with Camilla impacted his parenting. Given the amount of support the Royals have for their children, possibly it didn't. And she was/is he true love. Being with her would have made him happy, and being happy might have helped him to be a better parent.

I don't see how the Queens appointed doctors can be bested

Are those the doctors who delivered the Queen's children? If not, she hasn't required any pregnancy care from them, so there's no way of knowing how good they are in that regard. If they have, they're quite old, so there's a good Chance there are younger doctors who are better or at least, who are better at delivering babies.

But what I think is more important than anything is who Meghan is comfortable with. Not everyone is comfortable with every doctor but everyone should have the doctor they trust the most around, especially for something as stressful as giving birth.

There's actually a valid theory that famous people often get the worst medical care. Reason being the power balance between a famous person and a doctor is shifted. Many doctors end up being enablers and/or unable to speak to their client in frank terms.

It just so happens that the Queen has excellent genes and is a hearty ninety two year old but her father was a chronic smoker and no doctor had the nerve to tell him to stop and he died of lung cancer at an early age. The Queen Mum continued to drink and smoke into old age. She too was blessed with good genes.

One can be a good parent and a horrible life partner.

You can love the children, and hate the other parent. What is a bad parent in an adulterous situation is trying to pit the other parent against the children.

I wonder the same thing. She is annihilated in the press. I can't believe some of the stories I have read. Her clothes are the wrong fit, wrong color, and the wrong style. Her hair is always wrong and inappropriate for the occasions. Her smiles are fake, scheming and devious. Her body type is all wrong. She is a controlling shrew that has come between Harry and his friends, his brother, his sister-n-law, his father, and his uncle. She has ignored all royal protocol by crossing her legs, closing car doors, laughing with the queen, wearing nail polish, trying to out-dress Catherine and insulting the queen. (Even though on this very site there are videos of Catherine closing her own car door and crossing her legs - I guess it's just allowed for Catherine). And let's not forget that she is such a witch, that she has made Catherine cry, and her staff is crying, uptight and quitting all around her. She was criticized for flying in the private jet of her friend and having a baby shower. The same news source that wrote about how "fortunate" Catherine was to be able to "borrow" the private jet of the Duke of Windsor for vacations slams Meghan for doing similarly.

No one could have anticipated just how much the press hates her. Certainly, I don't think Harry or Meghan thought it would be this bad. In my opinion (and it's just my opinion) I think 85% of it is racially motivated and based solely on the fact that she's African American. And that's something she can't fix, and in time no one will ever forget. She will always be black and unfortunately some media and many internet trolls, just can't accept the inappropriateness of her marrying any royal, much less the beloved son of Diana - Harry.

I started "following" the royal family after watching Catherine and William's wedding. I really like Catherine. She is classy, genuine, and beautiful. I think 95% of her clothing is spot-on, sophisticated and elegant. The other 5% is kind of "old" for a thirty something year old, but I'll be darned if she still pulls it off and looks good. Even ugly dresses fit her like a glove and seem to work. I haven't really formed an opinion on Meghan. I wasn't really thrilled with Harry's choice, but tried to have an open mind. But the unnecessary brutality of the press coverage surrounding her is just wrong.

Look back a few years and you will find similar talk about Kate. Heck you can still find it about Kate. It is nothing new but that doesn’t make it right. The press build people up in order to tear them down. They did the same with Sarah Ferguson and, for a while, to Diana, but then Diana died so she was suddenly a saint again. Everyone who enters the BRF is a “breath of fresh air” “the one the Queen likes the best,” and “will modernize the royal family,” that is until they aren’t and they won’t, then the press turns on them. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I suspect some of the more dreadful stuff is racially motivated, but 90% is the same old same old, and 5% is probably fairly legitimate critic (Meghan has worn some ill fitting clothes for example and strictly speaking a critic of clothing, at least for someone who says very little and is in the public eye, is not personal.) But the building up just to tear down is really tiresome. I hope neither Meghan nor Harry are reading the press. As for photos when out in public, Harry is going to have to take a chill pill. There are many effective ways to deal with the press and getting snarky and covering lenses is not one of them.

It's a bit too late for regrets.

She knew what she was signing up for. She should have been prepared to be in the public limelight and to be the target of media scrutiny.

No one could have anticipated just how much the press hates her. Certainly, I don't think Harry or Meghan thought it would be this bad.

Maybe not. But now they have to deal with it. I hope their love for each other makes them stronger.

This goes beyond scrutiny from the professional or tabloid media to a crazy (and kind of scary) mob maliciousness, IMO. I’d consider it a form of online bullying.

Imo some of the plans being circulated online to kill the baby go beyond cyber bullying and I hope police are investigating the threats.

Yikes - I haven't seen those threats but I don't click on any pages that are full of hate. Hopefully the authorities are taking any such threats seriously. I wouldn't be famous for anything not with social media as it is now.

My great grandmother had at least ten children. She had several in her forties: her last child also was born when she was 46 (My mother was 41 when I came along.)
