What Anna Wintour thinks of Duchess Meghan and Duchess Kate: :)

Season 9 will be it for DoS Meghan's former show, Suits on USA Network:
https://www.wmagazine.com/story/meghan-markles-show-suits-ending-with-season-9

I think the fact that both Meghan and her co-star/ love interest on the show, Patrick J. Adams, left after season 7, is what hurt ratings for the show. The original premise for Suits was specifically centered around Adams' character. Adams leaving along with Meghan was a big hit for the show to take. It becomes a different show with a completely different chemistry.

I love that dress on Catherine.
I saw one article call it Meghan inspired because of a similar colored burberry coat Meghan wore, but it's a rewear for Catherine, isn't it?

Kate has worn it twice before. The first time is when it was announced she was pregnant with George so I highly doubt she was inspired by Meghan!

Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan are both equally fashion conscious and very astute about what suits their bodies and their personalities. Even before Meghan met Prince Harry, Kate and Meghan had been wearing similar outfits sometimes by the same designer. That's not unusual for two superbly fashion conscious, high profile young women. On the day that Meghan visited the Hubb Community Kitchen last November she wore a burgundy outfit with dark stockings, while on the same day Kate appeared at another event in a burgundy outfit with dark stockings. Seemingly, they coordinated their looks that day even though they were attending separate functions.

Last January 30, Meghan wore a McQueen tux to the Endeavour Awards ceremony, while that same evening pregnant Kate was wearng an absolutely gorgeous blush pink McQueen gown at a state dinner in Oslo, Norway (during a visit with William to spend time with the Norwegian royals).

Here are other examples, most of which are coincidental prior to Meghan joining the British royal family (aside from the first pictures of the burgundy outfits which seemingly were coordinated):

Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan both have brought beauty, style, substance, presence, and positive attention to the British royal family. Hopefully, they are both inspiring and supporting each other. That's a win/win for all involved.

Yesterday DoS Meghan visited the Natonal Theatre wearing what's been described as a blush/nude or beige ensemble by American designer, Brandon Maxwell:

@aftershocks Be that as it may, in this particular instance there was no inspiration simply because Kate has had this outfit for at least six years. I too wore burgundy the day both Kate and Meghan did as I am sure many women around the globe did. Correlation does not equal causation :saint:

I find these comparisons, along with all the “channeling Diana drivel” quite irksome. Yes, Kate was wearing earrings that previously belonged to Diana. Earrings that Kate had restyled to a style she prefers. It doesn’t mean it is some ode to Diana every time she wears them. (And this is coming from someone who was a huge Diana fan back in the day.)

Yeah, there is lots of drivel and noise surrounding the British royals. I agree re not every thing worn is a nod to Diana. Fashion themes in general can repeat from generation to generation. OTOH, there definitely are cases where Kate has purposely worn outfits or colors in an homage to Diana. But not always. Hopefully, the royals are letting the drivel and trivia all slide away. They have better things to focus on, such as their growing family (immediate and extended) and the important humanitarian projects they are working on, and their support for the Queen in taking on royal patronages as QE continues to cut back on her public duties.

As far as the outfit Kate wore in Scotland, right, it's a lovely plaid outfit which is not an unsual style for any of the royals to wear in Scotland. I agree that the media and especially the tabloids lay on a lot of stuff real thick. I'm not addressing the obvious reaching and making up stuff just to fill article space. For all we know, Kate may have been the one who tipped Meghan for the plaid coat that she wore in Scotland last year. There's a great deal we don't know and never will about the behind-the-scenes goings-on among the British royals.

What I was pointing out in my previous post is that both royal ladies are of a similar age, and both are very stylish and high profile, so it's not unusual for them to wear the same designer, or sometimes rock similar-looking outfits, with no coordination having occurred whatsoever. And we can actually see that having happened on a number of occasions even before Meghan met Prince Harry. But now that both ladies are part of the most famous family in the world, I wouldn't be surprised if they've shared fashion and designer tips.

For me, the burgundy with dark stockings look was way too similar on the very same day by these ladies to not have been winkingly coordinated by them. Ditto the vastly different McQueen outfits on the same evening last January. That was too cool to have been a coincidence. Perhaps they both knew they were each planning to wear McQueen that evening. If they didn't, that's interesting. However, that evening was definitely a wow for them both regardless of whether or not they intentionally planned to wear the same designer/ different outfits.

How do you know Kate is paying homage? Does she confide in you?

She may have similar dress, jewelry and it may have or is something similar to what Diana may have worn, but my guess is Kate wears what she does because she likes it.
Of course, Kate doesn't share her dress choices with me either.

Two other things to consider. One, as far as jewelry goes, Kate has a number of heirloom pieces. This is quite usual given her in laws. It is interesting to note, however, the new pieces and pieces she owned prior to her marriage are quite different in style. Second, Royal calendars are usually set a year in advance. I remember reading an article back in Diana’s day where it was disclosed that the wardrobe is also often set six months to a year in advance. This makes sense on two fronts. First, custom designer clothing is generally not produced overnight, and second, given that Kate is a fairly busy hands on mom, it would be reasonable that she would sit down with an assistant and look at her engagements and figure out all the outfits.

The idea that she is running to her closet in the morning and figuring out what to wear, or calling up Meghan to discuss wardrobe choices seems just  to me.

As I said, personally I am not focused on whether Kate is 'paying homage' on this occasion or any other occasion. She simply has sometimes worn a style or color similar to something Diana previously wore, and of course, both Kate and Meghan wear pieces of jewelry that belonged to their mother-in-law. I will say that I think it's obvious Kate purposely wore dresses inspired by outfits Diana wore while leaving the Lindo Wing. I think that's especially true for the first outfit Kate wore when leaving the hospital with baby Prince George, and then the most recent red outfit she wore after the birth of Prince Louis. But the royals aren't going to confirm it one way or the other, nor do they need to.

Again, I'm not focused on nor do I care what the article was driveling about. I think the main point is: practically every day (when Kate and Meghan are wearing their engagement rings) the duchesses are wearing jewelry that belonged to Diana PoW. And wow, what an honor that must be. These ladies know better than anyone else exactly how much Diana means to her sons, unsurprisingly. It's simply not a big deal though for anyone who is a royal family member and who actually knew Diana. And I'd say that both Kate and Meghan know Diana much more intimately than the public does, via their husbands' fond memories and recollections. :D

The media and tabloids will make overdone hay regardless. I'm not even sure what the big deal is about this topic. Kate and Meghan are stylish in their own right. And so was Diana. She's their mother-in-law and all royal ladies likely take note of fashion of the moment, of the past, and of what other fashionable royals are currently doing, while always keeping in mind their own likes and dislikes and what works well for them.

Case in point: Meghan's gown at the Sentebale benefit show was similar to a gown worn by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, which can mean any number of things from Meghan having seen CPV's gown and liked it and desired something similar, or Meghan's designer, Roland Mouret, was influenced by CPV's gown to make something similar which Meghan saw and had adapted or perhaps the similarities between the gowns are purely coincidental.

The idea that she is running to her closet in the morning and figuring out what to wear, or calling up Meghan to discuss wardrobe choices seems just  to me.
Said who? Your OTT exaggeration on this knows no bounds apparently. This topic is really a trifle. We simply do not know everything down to the detail about what goes on behind palace walls, unless you are a former royal staffer or a royal insider or an expert on British royal trivia of all kinds. I think some takes are common sense, and then there's overdone ridiculosity.

Based on how they draw that conclusion, we all pay homage to Diana when we get dressed. "Kate wore jeans! Here's a picture of Diana wearing jeans! It's a tribute!!" Or any time she wears a dress that they can quickly find a picture of Diana in one of the same color. If you've worn basically any color of dress in the spectrum in your life, you, too, have probably given sartorial tribute to Diana!!

Palate cleansing:
The Duchess of Sussex visited the ACU today, wearing another updo hairstyle:
http://madaboutmeghan.blogspot.com/
http://www.meghansmirror.com/royal-...visits-association-commonwealth-universities/

And yep, DoS Meghan was still wearing her 'homage to Diana' engagement ring, looking lovely as usual and more pregnant than ever. :D

Royal journalist Chris Ship reports that the Duke & Duchess of Sussex plan to move into Frogmore House in March:
https://www.itv.com/news/2019-01-31/harry-and-meghan-to-move-to-new-home-frogmore-cottage-in-march/

Hello magazine has launched a #HellotoKindness campaign to champion positivity and fight against the Internet trolling and online attacks of 'Kate vs Meghan stans':
https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/a26074213/kate-middleton-meghan-markle-warring-fans/

"'Some people feel the need to compare [the two duchesses], or create a competition,' said Christine Ross, editor of What Would Kate Do? and Meghan’s Mirror, 'when in reality the world needs both women—women who raise awareness for worthy causes, encourage kindness, and support their communities and the world around them.'"

The Sussexes will be visiting Morocco at the end of February for 3 days at the request of Her Majesty's Government:
https://twitter.com/KensingtonRoyal/status/1093809895487488000

The Sussexes attended the Endeavour Awards ceremony last evening:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr6Vr5gdCso (views of H&M entering the building; Meghan speaks to one attendee about her pregnancy)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2RnApC1r64 (H&M entering and being announced before the ceremony; Meghan is introduced to present one of the awards -- and as usual she expresses herself with such eloquence in praising the nominees: "... You don't have that ripple effect, unless each of you make that first wave ... thanks from all of us for being that inspiration...")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsMaswFMjeA (voice-over from a published account and photos of the ceremony)

Meghan wore bespoke Givenchy (very simple, understated and elegant)
Were these her style inspirations, or style advice by Givenchy designer, Clare Waight Keller?

The Sussex baby is huge and still growing. Meghan's bump is bigger than it was only a few days ago at her last public appearance. She looks glowing and happy, despite all the noise in the media:

I'm glad to see the Sussexes' friends, as well as many prominent people speaking up on behalf of Meghan and against the awful media attacks and online trolling directed toward HRH Duchess of Sussex:
