Royalty thread #15: A New Era

I realize there are many, many classifications of Eating Disorders having cared for a few in the 90's.

When I saw Catherine in that red dress, I was reminded of Karen Carpenter. She reportedly not only had anorexia but bulimia. I'm not saying I know anything about Catherine, just my initial shock.

I worked with Mae and her treatments of PANDA in the early 2000's, so I am quite aware of the different causes, different diagnosis, different symptoms.

Why does every person who is slim have to have an eating disorder?

Kate's tall, all clothes are cut in a way that give your body a certain shape and while the color looks great, I don't think the cut of the red dress works well on Kate but I don't think her body looks disproportionate and she looks perfectly fine in the white dress/suit that is also featured in the Elle link that was posted up-thread.

In my opinion, Kate looks just like her sister and mother. And I would not call this family extremely thin.
And I would rather suspect Queen Letizia. But she seems to just love the gym a lot.

They don't.

Camera angles have a lot to do with appearances.

The red dress one seems to be from a fair ways away. The white dress looks closer.

Generally, someone looks thinner than they are when the camera angle is far away. When the camera angle is close up it tends to make someone look a little more fuller than they can be (remember the who camera adds 5-10 pounds (2-4 kilo)

The red dress one from the camera angle gave me "oh" pause

Sarah Ferguson (Fergie) has been diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy. It was caught early by mammogram and apparently her prognosis is very good. With three lovely little grandchildren, she has many years to look forward to. All the very best to her and her family.

Mike Tindall and the The Good, The Bad and the Rugby podcast had Will, Kate and Princess Anne as their guests on the most recent episode. They are the patrons of Welsh, English and Scottish rugby.

The royal feud extends to ignoring the Invictus Games even though the honorees happen to be their own wounded warriors. They could have made a public comment celebrating the participants without mentioning H&M but apparently they are too petty for that. It's not a good look.

So that Meghan and Harry's fans accuse the royal family of promoting themselves on Harry's achievements?
Unfortunately, the situation has already reached a level where the number of pros and cons is off the charts. And I have already written that the decision to remain silent may turn out to be the most constructive. They will be blamed in any case, so why give reasons for additional accusations?

There has been very little royal news of late. Do you think that is because they are trying to keep a low profile or that interest has simply waned?

There has been plenty of royal news of late, just not really of the British royals.

Google Prince Christian of Denmark and Princess Maria Chiara - https://people.com/princess-maria-c...ponds-dating-prince-christian-denmark-7963445

Also, the Danes are having a big birthday bash for him when he turns 18.

Princess Leonor will be swearing her allegiance to the Spanish Constitution later this month.

Princess Elisabeth of Belgium just completed her officer training and there was a nice ceremony honoring her.

King Carl Gustaf just celebrated his Golden Jubilee and there were some gala events.

I think there's news, just less interest for some of us in following it or sharing it or discussing it. For me at least, it stopped being fun around when the Kate vs Meghan wars started, the Harry trainwreck, and the whole Andrew mess. Before that, a nice distraction - pretty dresses and jewels and adorable babies and lavish weddings and other events. Some gossipy fun along the way, bit of fashion snarking, that kind of thing.

When I posted about Camilla's dress above, I had originally seen it on Dior's Instagram and wanted to share it here for something happier, but when I clicked on it to get the link, there were all the comments, mostly about Diana as you can imagine, just awful. Instead I searched for an article so as not to a) subject you all to that and b) get that old war going again.

At this point, it's more fun to follow Taylor Swift.

I follow the Royal Family on Instagram and Twitter, so it's fun for me to see the engagements they attend and see the organizations they support. They just finished their summer holidays not too long ago, but otherwise there's plenty that is being posted on their official sites.

I'm finding Kate & William kind of bland. Other than What Kate Wore which is seldom my style there isn't much interesting going on. And I'm not the type to go googoo over kids so I don't really care which school they go to or who drops off & picks up. Andrew is even less interesting to me. I suppose Charles didn't want the press to have photos of Andrew being dragged out kicking & screaming so he's going to let him stay.

When their kids are older & they get to adult I imagine they will do more interesting things.

They probably like bland over some of the past news items re Andrew, Harry, etc.

They also probably want to spare their kid as much of the media as possible,

This article has a lot of sarcasm. If you think ghosts are real and/or that Princess Diana was a saint and no one should make fun of anything about her even if it's not actually aimed at her, I suggest you skip it. For the rest of us, I found it amusing. But I really, really hope that Princess Di's ghost is NOT going to be in the next season of The Crown.
