They have tons of camps. I don't think anytime recently the results have been really questionable in terms of team. There is also three up three count so specialities play a role.

I think recently the teams have been more than fair.

The system is very clear and everyone really knows what they have to do to make the gymnastics team.

I don't understand those of you who are questioning whether anyone will watch nationals any more. Was there not amazing skating at all ranks of the competition? Is Ross' skate any less amazing because it didn't open another door for him?

People went there to see a competition not a show. If judges are fudging marks it is a show only. People are saying if judges knew Adam and Jason were going to implode later on they would not have marked Miner fairly. What kind of crap is that.

If they had to take the podium, he probably would have been cheated out of it by judges trying to manipulate the podium. That didn't happen, because the podium is not the team, and he deserves his silver.

Well if we are going by the criteria the committee decided by, Nationals is Tier 1 which I assumed was weighted more heavily than Tier 2 and Tier 3. I guess I was wrong. My point is though, is that Rippon's overall body of work set forth by the selection criteria isn't that amazing to justifiably name him to the Olympic team 11-1.

I think the USFSA was screwed no matter who they selected (for the 3 places- not the alternates), and am surprised the vote was 11-1.

Maybe it's like in the jury room. Pressure was put on some voters to come out with this result. Who knows? Jason sadly does not end up in the 'room where it happened.' I love all these guys (these lovely and very special U.S. men -- all so classy and sportsmanlike) and how hard they all work. I do not love USFS, nor ISU.

I want to see an interview with Mark Mitchell, but he probably will be too choked up to say how he feels. Plus he's pretty much a classy guy who tends to go along with the program, however shitty it is. God this sport gives me indigestion and gray hairs. And I need to get back to facing my own life challenges. Unfortunately.

They picked the top three for the ladies and not all were happy, they didn't pick the top three for the men and not all were happy. So no matter who they pick, some will be furious, absolutely furious.

The furious came into play because the judges played with the marks to get the desired result so there would not be fallout for not picking 1,2,3

Yep. You know who the top all arounders are and what places need to be filled in 3 up 3 count. It is fair. I felt the team becomes obvious.
Some screamed Ashton not making it but I felt taking two girls who could do AA (injuries happen) and score around the same on bars made all the sense in the world and was more than fair.

Actually, yes it is strong enough to justify naming him over Ross. I would question the 1 holdout vs the 11 who saw things rationally.

Eh. Max 9th at Nationals the last two seasons, Grant 4th & 5th. Max has a good skate and medal from the Grand Prix this season and that's about it. I know Grant had bad showings on the Grand Prix, but Max's 30 point loss here to Hochstein should've tipped the scales in Grant's favor IMO.

That's true. Perhaps Max's higher placements over Vincent (I seem to recall reading about those...a few times) were taken into consideration.

Nationals probably was weighted more heavily. Rippon finished 4th, not 12th.


The Jason decision is a little questionable with nationals being Tier 1.

Skaters can do multiple challengers but that’s rare too. Miner didn’t have the scores to do two gp events so could have done more challengers if he has that type of funding which he doesn’t have either. One thing affects another!
