I am hearing this from reliable sources but take it for what it’s worth at the moment. Miner out. Gonna assume the announcement is Chen, Zhou, and Rippon.

I wish Grant was on the Olympic Team.

I would be less upset if Adam did not just leave out elements (single jumps with no apparent effort to do multiple rotations) because he was caught up in his own mind and forgot he was in the middle of a competition program.

You're trying to break it to us easy, or scoop the announcement?

What's the scoop on 4CCs and Worlds assignments?

I didn't hear anything about 4CCs or Worlds but talk is Ross is out but it's just from sources, so I dunno. I wonder if Tony and I heard it from the same person.

It's a reflex when a skater pops a jump, not that they aren't making any effort. We fans are way to quick to jump on skaters without any actual personal experience or knowledge of what they go through day in and day out for 4 1/2 minutes of competition do or die.

That is not an excuse. Even if Adam fell on his a$$ on two jumps in a row, that would have been better.

Ah, I'm making no excuses for anyone. I'm just saying it was a reflex. Whether or not any of us are competitive figure skaters, you can't think of an equivalent in your own life that you wish you had a do-over. It's going to be hard enough for Ross and for Adam without blaming Adam for stumbling over the finish line with those two crucial lapses. What would the committee have done had Adam placed ahead of Vincent. Probably still bumped Ross for the Olympic team.

Whatever happens, we shall see how it all pans out. Figure skating can be a cruel sport.

^^ Great. Have you ever competed at Sr Nationals in the final group for a spot on an Olympics team?

Ah, I'm making no excuses for anyone.

I am actually more interested in knowing if you competed at Sr Nationals in the final group for a spot on an Olympics team.

If not, then you owe @Lanie an apology for demanding criteria you yourself can not live up to.

Have you?

No. I'm not setting myself up that I have either. I'm saying that none of us know. I was addressing @Lanie who said many here are skaters. I'm not a skater, so I'm asking what @Lanie's personal competitive experience has been, not trying to start an argument or a pile-on or a knife-fight.

Don't worry he/she is detached.

I'm a she @Jarrett. I said in another thread that I was a detached observer of the ladiezzz discipline, not that I'm detached from figure skating in general, nor from the men's discipline in particular.

Do you really expect anyone to believe that you were honestly asking Lanie if they have been in the final group of Nationals? And that you weren't being petty or sarcastic? As if that would be the only person with an idea what pressure as a competitive athlete can feel like? You are a piece of work.

No @bardtoob. I don't have anything I need to apologize for saying. You are the one misconstruing, jumping to conclusions and getting upset for whatever reason.

Look. Emotions are high. We all love figure skating. You and I can be laser sharp at picking people apart, but I am not going to do that. However, it did seem like you were saying you did know while @Lanie does not yet you also do not, and that is a very dirty way to hold a conversation.

I think Ross should go because Adam looked so out of it that it was as if Adam was doing intentional singles while Ross completed a clean program with a clean quad.

Yep indeed, emotions are high, and lot of misconstruing of tone and intent is going on here too. We are not all going to hold the same opinions. I already said in the other thread who I would pick to go to the Olympics: Nathan, Ross, Adam.

Vincent URed most of his quads and he didn't particularly perform well on the GP either. USFS set the criteria to make Olympic team selections based on body of work, so that would tend to go against Ross over the last couple of years, not against Adam. However, I think actual performances should be looked at rather than necessarily placements since the judging is inconsistent and variable from event-to-event.

What is this about from you Jarrett? What's your real beef? What are you really upset about? I was not even addressing you. Lots of negative accusations coming from you, which are uncalled for.

If this proves true, I think it's an absolute shame that it really does turn out to matter less to absolutely deliver on the day than to build up a decent (but not world-beating) resume.

Body of Work makes sense to me when it comes down to a case where leaving a skater off the team could actually alter the outcome of an Olympic or World podium, or if it's Worlds and there's legitimate concern about securing spots for the following year if adhering just to Nats results. Nathan would have a huge case if something insane had happened for him here. But I just don't see that Adam's good Grand Prix series -- which included a couple of events that missed some big name guys, it's probably relevant to recall -- is worth knocking off the silver medalist who substantially outskated him here, today, at the season's highest pressure event. I would feel better skipping over Zhou simply because third/fourth are a little more comfortably interchangeable, but even so, I'd prefer to stick with the podium for this event and tweak things instead for Worlds, where spots are on the line.
