Project Runway 2017

Whaaaat, no Tim Gunn? Not replaceable! I like Christian Siriano, but what gives? Heidi I could care less about.

I like the idea of Christian Siriano as mentor. I thought he was a pretty good guest judge and he certainly has established a name for himself.

I am beyond thrilled that PR is returning to Bravo, the show definitely suffered under the Lifetime logo. I'm hoping they stop the stupid stunt casting and get back to more realistic challenges and more realistic deadlines.

I don’t care what network it’s on. What’s most significant to me is that they’re going back to the original production company, Magical Elves.

Bunim Murray was known for Real World and Bad Girls when they picked up PR. I suspected that they’d stress the nut jobs, and wasn’t surprised when the show featured less design and more drama.

I missed the Bravo seasons of project runway and decided to find them. They are on DailyMotion and I started with Season 1. OMG it is fantastically weird. In the Lifetime episodes they complain about items looking like student work. So far Season 1 is all student work. I love that you even see them doing their laundry and one contestant would work for a few hours and then say he was done. He'd leave. Can you imagine that today?

Season 1 had some amazing talents and some of the most intricate and beautiful pieces.
Austin Scarlett's corn silk dress, his Banana Republic dress.

Jay McCarroll's Empire State Building dress :swoon: , his envy look was striking. I can't think of anything Jay created that looked student like, he was wildly creative.

Kara Saun's wedding gown, her futuristic look. Another talented and professional designer.

I'm still bitter about Wendy Pepper winning the damn red carpet look that bumped Austin, but Jay and Kara Saun really brought it to the finale. Jay's collection remains my all time favorite of all the seasons.

Yeah there were some young and inexperienced designers, but I don't think that has changed with the later seasons.

I loved Austin Scarlet. I'm finally at the point with are the final 3.

When did 'night out to drink' stop happening? I would not be surprised after the accident if that was the last time they go off on their own. The Page 6 guy - it was so creepy to see him looking at the 16 year old model - times really have changed about what is shown on tv.

It's so funny to watch and then google - who drew on Pepper's daughter's photo?! Where is Mario now? Etc, etc.

And the grammys red carpet dress that Austin got bumped for was one of my all time favorite dresses from any season.

The winner was well deserved - but they did not take the money or internship! After all that hard work? Now I am wondering when PR took out the 10 percent clause.

With Scirriano as the mentor and one of the judges being from Teen Vogue are they hoping to pull in a younger demographic?

Not sure. The production team will be the same as the original seasons. Christian’s demo skews 30+. I’m just hoping for fewer nut jobs and better design!

I've missed everything since season 12, sadly. I was no longer able to access episodes online. I figured at some point I could get DVDs from the library or on Amazon. I already own DVDs of the first 3 seasons (the best of all)! Season 4 was spectacular too -- the winning season for Christian Siriano!

Cross-posting from conversation in U.S. ladies thread:
He's the mentor for Project Runway Season 17, now that Tim Gunn has moved on ... I kind of doubt he'd want to compete again.

Exactly. Siriano has no need to compete on PR again. He is probably the most successful and well known in his own right of all former PR winners/contestants. He's scrapped and scrambled and taken advantage and then some of every opportunity via creative brilliance and hard work. Siriano has created custom designs for some big names, including Leslie Jones and Michelle Obama.

Sadly, I have to find and catch up with past PR episodes starting from season 12, as for some reason several years ago, I was no longer able to access content online and I don't bother with cable. I don't know if current episodes are made available on Lifetime without having to purchase access to their online content.

So I see now that the show is no longer aired on Lifetime. Maybe I can access it on Bravo. Maybe I didn't miss too much that was exciting over the past few years. I love Tim Gunn! And I missed him the most!

I'm watching, my most favorite designer is on it.

The awkward part is the constant reminder that the winning items will be on jcp.com and they are not. I hope the designers got the money!

I thought there were a few really questionable eliminations in the beginning weeks, but the top group is pretty much who I expected to be there minus one of them.

Alyssa really loves Michelle. I don’t have any problem with her and think that sometimes she hits it outta the park with her designs, but when she gets it wrong, it’s really wrong. And every season she seems to be the one doing all the narrating and sharing of opinions on just about everything. She gets a lot of producer-interview screentime.

Which one?

Dmitry "Dima". I feel like the winners are the most jcp marketable designs. It really sucks. But I love him. His total revulsion at the jcp fabric challenge was hysterical. I think he wants to be sent home, the Lyft transportation, the whole thing seems to not be what he thought he was signing up for.

Dmitry is one of the best designers PR has ever had, IMO.
His work is consistently excellent, whatever the challenge.

I agree although last week he deserved to be in the bottom for that space alien outfit. lol

I think 100% of the designers (including Michelle, my favorite) thought gender-neutral meant void of any sexuality and show no skin and cover them chin to toe in garbage sacks. If all designers went home for that challenge I wouldn't have minded.

Yes, his metallic alien outfit - I think he was kind of asking to be sent home. All he really needed to do was make something he would wear. And I cannot see him wearing the spacesuit. He doesn't seem to have his heart in this. Nor does he have the camera time he has had in the past. I would not be surprised if Michelle wins. Everyone seems bored. I bet they do not have the housing, food, and entertainment budget they used to have and they spend their off time watching the producer's netflix account and eating frozen dinners.

Y’al best back off of my TV boyfriend. Dima is MIIIINNNEEE.

I’m liking this All-Star season better than most of the all-star seasons. I just wish there wasn’t such a bias towards the American designers. Except the guy from the Netherlands—I can’t imagine how he actually won anything more complicated than a cake walk, and his attitude was terrible. He should have gone earlier. I’m not fond of the Canadian’s attitude BUT I think he was robbed of at least two wins and that might make me pissy too. I liked both Aussies. And I wish the guy from the UK would have stayed longer—I agree he should have been towards the bottom but not eliminnated. He could have been interesting. Irina and Michelle annoyed me on their own seasons and they really annoy me now.

I started watching, but haven't watched past the 4th or 5th episode so far. Not terribly impressed and can't believe Anya!!!! is on and still getting a pass on draping the same damn BS she did from day one. How is it she gets away with only having the most basic of sewing skills? I was sorry to see Seth Aaron go so early, but he seemed a little bored with the whole thing. I always liked Dmitry and so far he's not disappointing. I guess I'll try to catch up.

Honestly, though, I'm just biding time until the real show comes back on Bravo in a couple of weeks! :cheer:
