The Canadian adult skating community is very sad right now because Pat Noddin, one of the brightest lights in Canadian adult skating, passed away this week.

Pat was one of three adult skaters to have attended every Adult Nationals in Canada (2004 through 2016 IIRC), and was the oldest competitor at the very first Adult Nationals in Canada, when she was 67. When she was told that she could not compete in the ISU international adult events because she was too old, she successfully lobbied to get the maximum age limit removed. She participated in the ISU events in Obertsdorf and in Ottawa, the latter when she was 86. She also competed in the World Masters Games two months after she had a hip replacement.

She also got to skate on a session with Don Jackson, Kurt Browning, and Brian Orser which was arranged as a surprise for her.

Pat was a wonderful person and did so much for adult skating. We will miss her.

2004 (Burnaby) to 2016 (Oakville) - I was one of the three, along with Pat and another friend of ours.

Thanks for the thread! Pat was a true icon of adult skating and was still skating at 88, just a couple of weeks before she passed. We will miss her so much.
