I hope others don't do what I did and made their impression on this program based on a less than high quality video. I just watched a pretty clear version on my tv and it really is beautiful routine worthy of their talent and to compete for Olympic gold. Guillaume's transitions into and out of the elements is exceptional and this is a team that knows who they are and why they are dancing to this piece of music and that does so much in the selling and interpretation of their piece.
 
Okay so, after having watched it like a gazillion times, and now that I've come out of my euphoric state (barely), here's what I think could be improved in the FD :
-the curve lift : I think the recycling of last year's lift isn't very impactful, at least not as much as other elements.
-the spin (I think they messed up slightly at the end?)
-the first half may seem underwhelming in some aspects I think. I'm saying that for the casual skating viewer. To me the first half makes the impact of the transition into the presto part all the more effective.
-I think we can see Gabi working a bit more than Guillaume at this stage. I love her very much and I think she's wonderful but Guillaume is such a magnificient dancer that I think it takes a lot of work to be totally in sync with him, which she manages to do each year but maybe it's still early in the season?? Or maybe it's just the camera work that gives me this impression.

Anyway here are my 2 cents. We'll see a better version at Finlandia so maybe I'll change my mind about all this!

EDIT : also, maybe Gabi's dress could use some sparkles...? Perhaps the dress is a bit too sober. But the color is great!

Yes I don't doubt it. I trust her expressions were marvelous, I was more refering to the physicality of the program (but again maybe I'm wrong, and I'd be happy to be).
 
I thought it was difficult to follow the programme because there were too many close ups (during which you could indeed see Gabi's expression). It's a wonderful piece of choreography and they carry the music so well. I have no doubt this is going to be a masterpiece by February-in fact, it already is. P/C and V/M have two completely different styles and this season's programmes show that even more so than last year. Both are technically brilliant, but V/M are more 'in your face' while with P/C it feels like their mastery is directed inwards and flows in a subtle ( but at the same time very powerful) way towards the outside, if that makes sense.

First a comment on the costumes.

I think the SD costumes are just great. Guillaume's is perfect : all black with a stripe on the pants and Gabriella's is fun without being tacky. She has such great body lines she can wear anything but she also has a natural elegance that makes a difference.
For the FD I absolutely love Gabriella's dress : simple but supremaly elegant with a touch of sensuality with the bare back. She is gorgeous. I'm not sold on Guillaume's costume too reminiscent of the Mozart one. I whish he wore something more in lign with Gabriella either colourwise or with a shirt (silk) instead of a long sleeve Tshirt.

I can't wait to watch the SD as everybody else but I feel the FD is already in a class of itself. I know it needs more work but the choregraphy and the skating are already of great quality. And the lines, the musicality, the emotion and the esthetics are already superior to what I've seen so far. It already is a beautiful work of art. It is dance, the modern/classical ballet kind of dance. Nobody does that as well as they do.

I love it.

Absolutely! Comparing P&C's free dance to V&M's is like comparing the beauty of a Goddess to that of a stripper. No offence, but that's how tacky I thought V&M's free dance was compared to P&C's. Maybe it's just the music.

I agree. Gaby's dress is perfection (unlike Tessa's)

Oh please. Some here do enjoy both teams for their strenght.

Tessa is feline, she's not even bordering vulgar or tacky in the FD. Both FD play to each team's strenghts. Each FDs is an old program turned in a brand new one, nothing really groundbreaking. Both FDs are works in progress still, both are great in their own way.

I reserve judgement in the SDs because so far, I've only liked Penny&Nic's one. Or the ones Igor/Marina did.

This thread is for P/C .Tessa's dress is lovely .Different programmes.Why can't we just enjoy the skating of both teams?
I'm a P/C fan but really like watching Tessa and Scott too:)

I'm not actually a fan of either team (I mean I don't uber either) so I think I'm being pretty objective :shuffle:
On the bright side, the program in your avatar is still my favourite dance program of all time :GnP1:

100% agree. Unfortunately, comments of the same nature appear in a thread for V/M. I don't know but is it really that hard to enjoy both teams and their different styles without attacking the other one...?
 
Gaby's dress is indeed perfect, love the back and the flow it gives to her movements.
I'm still reserved on the SD one but let's see it in movement first. I didn't like Guillaume's FD shirt at first but it does a good job representing the area without the use of 18th century ruffle shirt. It might be a bit too open though. His SD costume is plain but give a night at the club vibe.

How is it "attacking"? I didn't realise it wasn't a self evident truth that Moulin Rouge is tackier than Moonlight Sonanta. It's not a personal attack on anyone. It's a matter of (good) taste.
 
I love it but somehow for me, nothing beats their breakthrough Mozart free dance. I don't know why I feel that way but maybe it is because they came up with such a new and unexpected style then. The noveltly of it was stunning, especially watching it live at Euros.
 
I´m so in love with this FD! Each time I watched it now I was in tears. and like others said before: it ended why too soon. I could watch them skater forever. I LOVE every second of this FD! I like the transitions from the slower to the faster and then again the slower part of the music. The choreography is perfect in each second of the program. That it´s already this good - how will it be in a few months... It´s art, it´s perfection... Guillaumes skating is to die for, but I also really have a soft spot for Gabby. Love her sublime skating. And I also love the costumes, esp. Gabbys. For Guillaume, I wished he would have also a blue shirt, but maybe he didn´t wanted to have something similar to last year? Short: I´m overwhelmed. Thank you to Gabby and Guillaume for this FD!
