As Debbie says, Chock & Bates defeated Bobrova & Soloviev at Cup of China so it could be done. Scores in the FD were close & base value was the same, with the same caller who will be at the Olympics.

I think Adam could beat Kolyada, unless Kolyada has the skate of his life.

Adam's season's best score--with a great skate--is almost 10 points behind Kolyada's score from Rostelecom. A performance in which Kolyada fell at least three times. He doesn't need the skate of his life to defeat Adam. Kolyada had two falls and a pop outside of Russia at the GPF and still outscored Adam's SB.

Even if IOC says they are going to ban her she can appeal to the CAS. As WADA itself declared she was at no fault, I can't see her getting banned, even more, she has an excellent opportunity to overturn the verdict if she appeals to the CAS.

The IOC gave the panel no wiggle room here. Was she declared ineligible? Yes.

So this could help China with Sui/Han taking the pairs win on both SP/FS as I don't see the USA taking a win, maybe Nathan with the SP but is not a given

I wonder also if Sui/Han will be skating the team competition at all with their competing just two days later, if they only skate the Short it could still qualify them to the Free skates but there if other couple skate I don't see chinese wining the free hence goodbye bronze medal

Japan-USA-China race will be very very close and come to maybe until the final free skates that will be the Free Dance

Tie breakers for the Team Event

When forming the intermediate and final result, in case of a tie between Teams, the tie breaking procedure will be used taking into consideration
 The highest aggregate Team points per Team from the two (2) best places in different disciplines will break the tie;
 If they remain tied, the highest total sum of the segment/total scores of the two (2) skaters/couples, who build the tie, will break the tie;
 If they remain tied, the highest aggregate Team points per Team from the three (3) best places in different disciplines will break the ties;
 If they remain tied, the highest total sum of the segment/total scores of the three (3) skaters/couples, who build the tie, will break the tie;
 If these criteria fail to break the ties, the Teams will be considered tied.

Yes. I’ve been really surprised at everyone assuming Bobrova would be in Pyeongchang. I can’t see a way, considering the rules.

An agreed list of OAR athletes will be published on January, 29, the preliminary list of participants was discussed with IOC on January,9.
On January, 11 Aleksandr Gorshkov, the head of the Russian Figure Skating Federation, said that they hope that Bobrova won’t have any problems with WADA as it was their fault and not hers, and her name was cleared after all.

I think China will sub in Yu/Zhang for the FS. No need to wear Sui/Han out and if China's getting a team medal, I expect they want their elder statesman to be a part of that.

Aliev will most likely do both programs for the Russian men at the Games. Kolyada might get to do 1, but I doubt it.

Russia and Canada are hard to pick as there are a lot of possabilities to what they might do. U.S is the only easy 1 of the big 3.

I know, which is why I am surprised to have not heard an official announcement and I notice the wikipedia page is still missing hardly anything but the French ladies singles entry.

I dont think he cares that much either way, and you could say the same for Uno. Japan is extremely unlikely to medal in the Team Event as you acknowledge saying they arent even likely to make finals, and obviously if they dont qualify for the LP they didnt medal ayway, so I dont think it is a huge deal. The individual is the bigger focus for both guys, I dont think either would want to do 2 programs even if they make the 2nd.

I picked Uno for the short since that has been his better program this year and there isnt much to go by on Hanyu, but I dont know. It could be the other way around, but I am sure they wont plan on either doing both even if they make finals.

Japan is not in medal contention in the team event. IMO they should save Yuzuru's energy, unless the plan is to use this as a warm up for him. He has not competed in a. Sry long time so it may not be a bad idea for him to do the SP. I am so worried about him that I may not even watch his skate.
