Findlay's annual Silver Blades ice show "Cruising to Paradise" was last weekend. Guest skaters were Kate Finster/Balaz Nagy, junior pair team, Sarah Feng/ TJ , junior pairs, and Alexis/Alday (Ethan Alday is a former silver blades skater that used to complete against her in singles event, then they paired up and became a dance team). The 10 graduating high school seniors had a group number in the 1st half of the show, and their senior solos in the 2nd half. Silver Blades coach Cody sang the national anthem, and is going to be going to an Christian university in South Korea after he graduates from univ of Findlay's nursing program.

First half was things to do on the ship. They did a wedding number to Going to the Chapel, dinner was Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast. cruise ship show, sunbathing, etc. 2nd half was different ports- Jamaica (and a Bob Marley song was skated to, 2 versions of under the sea (beatles I think , and the Disney one), and Aruba. The 2 pairs teams did their 2nd number together. Dance team did not have a 2nd number.

I took my best friend and her daughter. Sandy is still battling throat cancer (nonsmoker) and the usher did help her up and down the steps to the chairs . (reserved seats). Next year I will ask for row B or C. front row is partially obstructed by the barrier (and chilly). Since she was getting tired, we had her birthday dinner at KFC . I dropped them off at her house , and then visited my brother and sister-in law and their dog before going home because I had to let my dog out.

Copying this here since it seems like the appropriate thread:
Don't know where else to post this (feel free to move it to an appropriate thread):
Marjorie Lajoie is organizing a show on April the 2nd to support the Autism World awareness day near Montreal (Boucherville). Skaters include Lajoie/Lagha, Fear/Gibson, Plutowska/Flemin, Brasseur/Bardei, Alicia Pineault and others.
It's a good cause to support if you're in the area.

Ice Theater of NY is having a benefit show on Thursday, May 2 at 7 pm at Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers, with Misha Ge as their guest skater.

The email I got says that they will be presenting Gracie Gold with their Will Sears Award ("given to a skater who demonstrates exceptional daring and persistence in pursuit of her passion") but it doesn't sound like Gracie will actually be performing.

Link for tickets ($20): https://www.icetheatre.org/2019-spring-unplugged-performance-vip-party.html

Page linked above notes that Gracie and Misha will be conducting a skating seminar (it says all ages and levels, plus coaches) at the Ice House in Hackensack, NJ on Saturday, May 4, 10 am - 4 pm. Nothing else is posted now but it says to check back for details.

Brian Boitano posted this on ice photo with the cast of the Skating Club of San Francisco's show that honored Yamaguchi this past Saturday (Dinh Tran, Carreira/Ponomarenko, Feng/Nyman, Sierra Venetta, Emilia Murdock, Kate Wang & Alysa Liu): https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvtr7BWF1jJ/

Alysa Liu will be a headline performer at the SKATE IT FORWARD benefit show at the OhioHealth Ice Haus in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, June 22, 2019: https://www.instagram.com/p/BuZHnxyHBQB/

Skating Club of Wilmington, DE Annual Spring Show
Johnny Weir (Sat), Ting Cui (Sat), Lu/Mitrofanov, Ilia Malinin, Julia Biechler, David Shapiro
https://skatewilm.com/event/2019-spring-ice-show-skating-superheros/
Here's an article, originally published in The News Journal of Wilmington, about Johnny Weir's participation in next Saturday's club show (April 6): https://www.apnews.com/986aaa533af54e08a06c245745842571
“They have been so accommodating with my schedule and make it possible even for me to train in the middle of the night,” says Weir...
The skating club, which first opened in 1964, will host about 170 performers across the two-night event, including special celebrity guest skaters, such as Weir.
Pairs team Audrey Lu and Misha Mitrofanov and skater Ting Cui are also scheduled to perform.
...
While Weir has been busily preparing two new numbers for an upcoming tour in Japan [Fantasy on Ice] at the club in recent months, fans won’t be seeing those on April 6.
Instead, Weir says, “I’ll be pulling out an old fan favorite that I hope makes the audience smile.”

I saw on social media that the Saturday evening show of the Wilmington, DE club show with Weir and Ting Cui is sold out (not surprisingly). If anyone goes to Wilmington -- or to the Aston, PA shows (post #3 above) -- this weekend, feel free to share any impressions/highlights here afterwards.

Wow, Johnny Weir still has it. He skated to Creep in a black turtleneck, black leggings and a long, flowy black skirt that he used to great effect. He did a stunning triple toe and interpreted the music with beautiful and inventive movements. After the finale, he came to the boards to greet fans. He was delightful and gracious in receiving flowers and gifts, posing for pictures, signing autographs and giving hugs to fans.

Julia Biechler was fantastic also (One Moment in Time.") I wish she had been given a suitable introduction by the rink announcer, but there was no introduction for her. Julia looked trimmer and fitter than the last time I saw her in person, and given all the discussion of eating disorders and their pervasiveness, I hope she got into condition a healthy way. Her skating was sublime and she looked to be really enjoying her performance on the ice.

Tony Lu did his program to Queen. He did several big triples, including 3a. Might have done a quad, not sure. He landed almost everything. Boy needs to project, though. He skates inwardly and does not engage the audience.

David Shapiro gave a very engaging performance to a non-Buble cover of "Feelin' Good." He is a great dancer, sinewy and flexible, finds the nuances in the music and uses the blade VERY well. In a fun "cowboy" group number, I could not take my eyes off him.

Lu and Mitrofanov skated twice. Did a double twist.

Ilia Malinin and Nick Hseih both gave strong performances. Peter Liu had small roles in the group numbers but did not skate a solo.

Ting Cui did not perform due to injury.

Second to Weir's performance, biggest applause went to the "Baby Shark" song. Four pre-schoolers in tiny shark (mascot-style) costumes toddled onto the ice followed by an adult ice-dance couple, she in a pink shark mascot suit and he in gray. Let's go hunt d-doo-d-d-d-doo!

Any Boston area FSUers planning to go this year? Marissa Castelli is the head choreographer of this year's show.
Jessica Pfund and Joshua Santillan will be the guest skaters in the 'Life's Frozen Moments' ice show set for 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, PA: https://news.psu.edu/story/566644/2...ozen-moments-ice-show-set-april-14-pegula-ice

I can't keep track of the MANY ice shows/carnivals in Canada now that National Team athlete appearances is no longer posted online by Skate Canada.

Lubov I. posted an IG story last week that mentioned Valerie Saurette helped them with an exhibition number to "Ain't No Sunshine" that she and Charlie Bilodeau will perform this weekend in Goose Bay (Labrador). Thank you so much for the reports and video links. I've only started to watch the videos (so have not watched very many yet) but just had to say how much I enjoyed seeing Johnny - this program is a reminder of everything I always loved about his skating.

Re-posting this snippet from the Canadian Pairs thread: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...-news-and-updates.104046/page-56#post-5577225
Tonight, I was at the Repentigny FSC, near Montréal. Usual show. Usual guest (Soucisse Firus and Zoe Duval-Yergeau, for the third year in a row). Then they annouced surprised guests. Training together for only a month... Lubov and Charlie!

Sorry, no video or pics. I can't even say what was the music... Since I read all the comments about that new pairs, I was expecting a good show, nice lifts but above average jumps.
...
Conclusion: I was more pleased than I expected.
ETA that Ilyushechkina/Bilodeau have 2 exhibition programs that I know about: "Feel It Still" (Portugal. The Man) and "Ain't No Sunshine" with choreo. by Valerie Saurette that they were scheduled to debut in Goose Bay (Labrador) earlier this month.

"Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier ... along with U.S. Novice Men's pewter medalist Joseph Klein, will be featured during a show with the Central Illinois Figure Skating Club on April 27 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, IL" (same venue for SOI on May 4): https://www.pantagraph.com/entertai...cle_f47b2b65-eb32-54ea-84c9-906d5072cdbb.html
Event/Ticket info: https://www.grossingermotorsarena.c.../04/27/cifsc-presents-lets-celebrate--seasons

Jordan Moeller "will return to host his eighth annual fundraiser for Children’s Oncology Services, Inc. In its first seven years 'One Skate at a Time' has raised more than $70,000": https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/daily-southtown/news/ct-sta-community-news-st-0419-story.html
"The event will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 4 at Southwest Ice Arena, 5505 W. 127th St., Crestwood [Illinois], which has donated its facility for the event."
Scheduled to perform with Moeller are Courtney Hicks, Jimmy Ma and the 2019 U.S. Junior Pairs bronze medalists Isabelle Martins/Ryan Bedard.
