I do too. Even though it's not part of Olympic consideration for 'body of work' I'm sure the US officials were watching just the same...

On #USChamps18 call, @mirai_nagasu said her goal "is to go for everything.... put out 2 good performances & let results fall where they will." Regarding #PyeongChang2018 team criteria, she said, "I don't necessarily feel I have to win" in order to be named to team. (1/2)
Regarding triple axel, @mirai_nagasu said she enjoyed the attention & recognition the jump was getting & still does 10+ reps a day in practice: "It's as good or better than my other jumps." 2/2

Nagasu said during the teleconference: “It would mean the world to me to make the Olympic Team." She is keeping the 3 axel in both her short program and free skate. When asked if she will compete next seasons she responded, "I'm taking one competition at a time."

The moment of truth is almost here. I am getting too stressed to post. BUT -- Mirai is trained and focused, and she knows Nationals like the back of her hand. I keep thinking of that wonderful Instagram pic of her in Pyeongchang last year, but posted recently with the words, "Looking to the future and thinking, Yes, I can." It was so calm and sure. She is not a kid any more. She is a young woman with a plan. I love it that she feels ready. Go get em, Mirai!

I love the messy bun too but it would be a disaster in competition!

I am trying to not get my hopes up too high. Of course I want Mirai to skate great, and make the Olympic team, but I am trying to avoid a major disappointment, just in case she doesn't. I will still support her.

What I want is for there to be strong correlation between the hard work and achievement Mirai has had in practice with the performances she delivers in competition at US Nationals.

This is my first Nationals since about 1999 that I will be sober for. Therefore, I think I may be even more terrified than usual to watch Mirai with no crutch to lean on. You are stronger than I am. I don't normally drink while watching skating (although last night being NY's Eve...) but I can't possibly get through the ladies without a bottle of wine! I do trust in Mirai's training, I do I do I do! I don't believe in spooks, I don't, I don't, I don't!

Go, Mirai! Just focus and do what you do in practice... fiercely!!!

She looks great. I want her to be able to think "bend knees more. breathe." throughout both skates, because she tends to stiffen up and *that's* what causes the URs.

Our girl is looking pretty good! Solid jumps. I think the choreo at the beginning is much improved and is it me or did I see better transitions between the jumps and greater speed throughout?
