Back OT, I LOVE that Mirai has finally seen Miss Saigon on Broadway! I hope it inspires her to bring a whole new level of performance quality to her LP! And of course, I LOVE that Mirai said she's going to keep skating after the Olympics - and why not? She's only getting better!

Nationals will be here soon! GO MIRAI!! :respec::cheer2::cheer:

I think Mirai can do a much better charlotte then she is doing now. Her Nationals 2014 forward Charlotte was a lot better than her current backwards charlotte. I hope she gets a better split in the future. Go Mirai!!

I'm super-superstitious about watching Mirai. Everytime I watch her live on a stream or on TV, she well...you know...isn't at her best. However, when I don't watch live, she tends to do better (NHK, 4CC's, etc.). I'm seriously considering NOT watching the LP at Nats to not jinx her. I was devastated in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 wasn't awful but not her best)...and 2017 was just really one landed lutz away from 3rd.

Maybe I'll hold a prayer circle instead.

Sounds like a necessary sacrifice. We will applaud you for doing your duty as a Mirai fan.

Maybe I should do that . . . Maybe for the sake of Mirai I will not watch her until I read that she in Olympic Champion on Yahoo News!

Um, I think that would be TOO long a wait. Haven't you ever learned the wisdom of lowered expectations and pleasant surprises?

But imagine how much extra time I would have :D

. . . Okay, my expectations are that I will like somebody's skating at Nationals and there will an Olympic team consisting of some skaters, the Olympics will be held with a skating event, and I will like some skating from that event too.

OK. For the good of the order, I'll not watch. No peeking/no cheating. Just everyone make sure she's clean and rotated and we're good to go. If I remember correctly, I've watched her SP at nats for many years and she's been mostly solid - so I'll see how my nerves are doing. We just need her to not skate first or last in the final flight for the FS.

Thank you. You are a noble soul.

Last was a great spot for her in Vancouver so I'm not going to worry about that. First, I dunno.

I just remember her going first in 2015 when she clipped the boards...brave effort for continuing on though. She was last in 2013 and 2017. 13 was the flu.

Have we discussed here her SP dress...she went back to one she wore in the fall of 15 and 16 for her Senior B's for NHK. Any guesses if she'll pull something new out for either of her programs at Nats?

I like the idea of sleeves for the SP because she had beautiful arms in the original choreography. Unfortunately those movements are all gone expect for the footwork seq so I don't have a preference on what she wears. She posted in the summer that was was excited to wear the SP jeweled dress again (the one she wore a majority of last season) but she has gone back and forth with the sleeves costume all season. I think a new costume would be nice but she could wear a sack and still look great.

Detroit - Jewels
SLC - Sleeves
Russia - Jewels
Japan - Sleeves

I am seriously thinking of not watching myself. I may start my own prayer circle, light candles, drink just enough to soothe my nerves...:summer:

I'm going to be ridiculously nervous for her and everyone but I'm going to watch. When Michelle used to compete I couldn't eat, drink or doing anything, and I most definitely didn't have the nerve to watch her. I was very nervous for Mirai back in 2010 at worlds during the FS. I didn't watch her then....

I don't get that nervous for skaters now. Granted this is a pre-Olympics nationals so I'm not sure how I'll be feeling.

You better stay away from the tv and the computer when Mirai is skating. You can always watch the videos once her LP skate is over. Actually you may be ok watching the SP video right after she finishes. If you are attending the nationals you better leave the arena just before Mirai takes the ice.

All in jest of course  but I tend to be superstitious myself.

I think you guys should watch her skate and enjoy. I know it is stressful but nothing can take away my past experiences of watching those competitions live on TV or in person. Remember it is just a sport and Mirai will be fine regardless of the outcome. I mean I turned off the TV in SLC when Michelle flubbed up the flip and still regret it.

So true, as much as I want...well...everything for Mirai in terms of success this season, I do find comfort in the knowledge that she has had an Olympics already, which many have and will not have, add to that she had such a glorious skate in Vancouver and I remember thinking then that no matter what happens she will always have the memory of that.

And she earned a ratified 3A in competition, so now it is all icing.

I have to keep my expectations low because whenever I have high expectations of a skater, I am usually disappointed. It doesn't mean I expect Mirai to finish 10th or something, but I just have avoid expecting a perfect skate.

And she earned more than one ratified 3A!

I've decided I'm with Mirai all the way. She had the heart, grit and guts to come back and add a 3A to her arsenal after her disappointment of 2014, the very least I can do for her is watch her go for that second Olympics. And no matter what happens, she's an Olympian, forever an Olympian, the top American and 4th in Vancouver against the greats of her sport. And once upon a time, she was 1st in the SP at Worlds, beating two legends in the process, Kim and Asada!

Rooting for you all the way Mirai, my Rock Star, my Triple Axel Queen!! :rockstar::respec::cheer2::cheer:

I thought Mirai had no more than 1 ratified 3Axel. Where were they?
At her challenger comp and both her GPs. I forget how many were ratified, at least four. She does two per event. It is ridiculously hard to find online. Her Wiki needs updating. I tried but someone erased what I did.

You may be unaware because none of them have been landed beautifully but at least 4 have been rotated without falls.
