I also don't want to argue then argue. What a joke. Maybe we wouldn't say that because most of the gay men in figure skating don't have girlfriends and as a gay man myself I wouldn't call any of them sexy. And yes you are over sensitive.

I agree with you @Jarrett. Oversensitivity to the max. What's wrong with saying that having a boyfriend or a girlfriend no matter your gender, can give you confidence as a mature skater that helps bring out your sexy, sensual side in a show performance? :D

In Mirai's instagram story, she states that this is not necessarily her last year, but she doesn't think she'll make it thru another 4 years/the next Olympic cycle.

Oy, get over it. Yes, Mirai is a pretty mature woman, but I'm her to admire her athleticism ... And maybe admire some artistry, if she shows some :shuffle:

I think any growth Mirai is currently experiencing as it pertains to her calmness and relaxed-looking performances in front of an audience can be attributed to an increased level of inner confidence and comfort more than anything else. Sure, there continues to be room for improvement, but Mirai, imho, has managed to become much more comfortable in her own skin which has been noticeable to fans. But, you know, if Mirai's boyfriend has been instrumental by inspiring her to bring more confidence and sass onto the ice, then we need to arrange to have him parked in the front row of every competition Mirai is at this season! :skandal :inavoid:

I just came across this from 2010 Olympics. I kinda remember this feature. But yeah, a bit of Olympics over-hype, and a point in time. Mirai sounds the same, but she just looks younger:

I don't think it's over-hype, they didn't make it out like she was going to win (despite the "dark horse" labeling in the segment), 4th ended up being a great finish for her. That's a cute segment. I still think, despite not all of the jumps being perfect in the LP, that Mirai should have won nationals in 2010. She had the performance of the night (not that I'm saying nationals should ignore under-rotations, it's more annoying how selective their calling gets for some people, and that they should consistently call everyone as needed each year).

I thought Mirai was modestly/jokingly saying that it's not like she would be pulling out a triple triple triple like Evgenia.

What a stunning jumping pass! I also loved her instagram post from the other day where she talked about how she has been working very hard to get to her current fitness level/posted a picture from her Carnival on Ice exhibition.
:cheer2:

My goodness. TRIPLE AXEL/TRIPLE TOE/DOUBLE TOE/DOUBLE LOOP combo!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::encore::summer:

Remember when she said she couldn't do triple triple triples like Med in her Golden Skate interview? Challenge accepted!

What the???? Is that CG?????

Are you kidding me? How many points is that worth??? If she can seriously do that, then that seriously needs to be laid down at GP!!!!

If Mirai pulls off this 3A cascade sequence in the GPs and/or the 2A-1/2R-3F I will scream and faint with joy. :swoon: And die a happy skate fan LOL! :saint:

May the skate gods and goddesses be ever on Mirai's side this Olympic season! :drama: :D

I don't care if I ever see it in competition. I am glad she has done it and I got to see :biggrinbo

I have never seen a woman do a 3A-3T-2T-2L ever until today, and that is good enough for me!

:shuffle: I don't know if I have seen a woman to a 2A-1/2Lp-3F, but certainly not by the same woman in the same day.

I respect Mirai for her hard work. She has my moral support in that effort.

HARD WORK PAYS! HARD WORK PAYS! ...

Me too! I am in raptures with that 3A cascade sequence! :inavoid:

Only other woman that I've ever seen do a 3A-3T (not in a cascade combo) was the Legend, the 3A :glamor: Empress Herself Midori Ito in this 1992 Olympic practice video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQgR0cBsK4Y
