Can someone with taste tell me if Shang Chi is good like Black Panther or if it’s like every other typical formulaic Marvel film before I waste my time? :p
It's not as good as Black Panther IMO but it's not a typical formulaic Marvel film either. It had some breaks from the typical formula.

We are still watching The Bureau (French spy series). We finished Season 4, which focuses on intelligence activities in Russia.

Overall this was probably my least favorite season so far. I missed having Nadia and Celine on the show. The Russian locale was somewhat interesting, but several of the plot points felt implausible to me. The emphasis on cyberintelligence was probably realistic, but not compelling to watch. And the new characters who were introduced in the French DGSE office (cybergeek spy, analyst with glasses, Liz, JJA) didn't appeal to me. The main interest of season 4 was still the original characters and their emotions/actions--Paul, Marie-Jeanne, Marina, and Raymond.

Now moving on to season 5 ....

Speaking of Homeland: We stopped watching it after Season 2. Some of what happened in Season 2, especially the ending of that season, just didn't ring true or seemed too sensationalistic.

Did it get better after that? Should I give it another try?
Yes it gets better - especially with Quinn (Rupert Friend) and once in season 4. it will make sense why when you get past a certain event.

Anyone watching 'Dopesick'. Excellent series about the opiod epidemic and the Sacklers. Micheal Keaton and Kaitlyn Dever are excellent as always. Jumps all over the timeline that gets a little confusing. Story is on multiple fronts - the Sackler family, gvt investigations (VA US atty and DEA) and impact on a small mining town in Virginia where Keaton is the doctor and Dever as a miner and patients of Keaton (he also delivered her) and the Purdue salesman that interacts with Keaton and then shows him at team/company meetings.
I read some criticisms that the Sackler piece is the weakest. I always wonder with shows like this and the people being shown are still living - do the producers have to be careful to not invite lawsuits??? Sacklers are shown as a typical multi-generational family that is super rich and completely F'ed up. Michael Stuhlbarg as Dr Richard Sackler is very good.

Recently I needed some lite content to binge on so can recommend:
Eureka (Prime Video)
Lost in Space (Netflix)
Eureka is really enjoyable, though I've forbidden Mr Bunny Hop from ever watching it, as I know he'll just get annoyed about the alleged science.

Finally watching Lupin properly. Now I have the sub-title thing figured out I'm really enjoying it. Great concept.
Still haven't been able to persuade myself to finish The Irregulars though.

Parasite is finally on Netflix Canada so I got to watch. It is just a wonderfully created movie on social disparity, Asian fascination with Western culture, and familial bond. Bong does a masterful job of handling different genres—the movie can be funny, scary, joyful, sad, grim and hopeful without it ever losing its cohesion. Pleas watch!

I thought the set design was amazing and the film had some outstanding moments, but had a major issue with it in that none of the characters were likeable, IMO. I didn't care about any of them.

I love PD James mysteries and had some trepidation about the new series "Dalgliesh" on ACORN because I thought one past Dalgleish did not fit the role at all while another was good. I like Bertie Carvel but his past characters definitely aren't the strong, silent type. Thankfully he is a fine actor and I love his interpretation of the role. I've watched two mysteries and am gearing up for the third.

My hubby is a science-purist and he loved Eureka, so maybe there is hope for you.

They are releasing the 6th season of Shetland - one a week - on Britbox. LOVE this show!

I've just got into this (am in the UK, so watching on iplayer and impatiently waiting for the 5th episode) but I can't find the earlier seasons anywhere!

I've been watching The World According to Jeff Goldblum. He is definitely marching to the beat of his own drum. It's about the history and future of everyday things you don't normally think about. He has gone over sneakers, denim, ice cream, bicycles. It's nice quirky fun.

THERE'S ANTOHER PSYCH MOVIE!

It's called This is Gus and is streaming on Peacock on November 18. Why didn't anyone tell me? :drama:
I still have to finish the previous one. I liked it, but I have zero attention span these days and have trouble finishing movies/series.

Agree with @manhn that binging works for the series.

Ultimately (having seen the whole series once and now going through it a second time with Mr. Japanfan), I would describe it as inspirational.

Anika Noni Rose's monologue in Episode 4 really stood out for me.

The first few seasons were originally on Netflix - then Britbox. Although we ended up paying for season 5 on YouTube before it made it to Britbox. Sooooo goood!

For you Shetland fans, I started the show a while back and got through the first few arcs but stopped. Is there any character development in that show? I found it to be an interesting show but one that seemed more about the cases than anything else.

It's about the relationships between the characters on a daily basis, so not big character developments. For the last seasons it's one case per season. Over the seasons each character had now or then live through more or less devastating experiences.
I love it. The personal business is not too dominant.

I have stuck with Foundation and while I still don’t care for the Gaal or Salvor storylines, I am loving the interplay between the Cleon clones.

We've stuck with it too. I don't know why. Maybe Mr. Mac likes it?? We do often forget to watch this week's episode until a few days later or even the next week so he must not like it that much.

Prime just dropped the first three episodes of Wheel of Time. Didn’t know Prime did the episode a week drop thing. Thought is was just Apple and Disney+. Now I am not sure what to do, wait until the whole season drops or watch one episode at a time. LOL

Same. But recently found Haven streaming free on Roku so I may rewatch that and see where we are on Wheel of Time by the time I finish.

I rewatched the earlier episodes this week and I found myself fast forwarding through the Terminus parts and just enjoying the Cleon parts.

I chose to watch the Finale first thing this morning (clearing up schedule for all sorts of content binging this weekend) and it’s the same story. I was totally  about the big reveal in the Salvor storyline. On the other hand, Lee Pace deserves all sorts of awards.

Honestly, rather than do all sorts of cosmetic procedures on the story and Gaal and Salvor‘s characters (Salvor is a manipulative politician in the books, not a warrior), they should have just focused on the Cleons.
